Good Morning Gang Happy Thursday to all !!! Phyl - yes I like your theory - wine makes you pee :laugh: that's a great justification. On the theft issue - you are just asking for your segway to be stolen if you aren't locking it up and leaving it outside... We aren't living in the 1950's or 60's or even 70's (my parents never locked their doors) Gates are a total false sense of security - really they only keep the good pple out not the bad - it's proven that all you have to do is wait like 2 minutes and you can always follow someone in. Yep I think I did pretty good on hooking up some deals - it was my very 1st time at every trying it - and it worked - so from now on - I will keep at it - can't hurt ... I had auburn hair when I was like 15 it went good with my skin coloring and green eyes - but I have been a blond too long - every time I have tried to go darker I haven't liked it - but some of that was cuz my hairdresser would never put enough gold in my hair - she would make me ashy - and I hate green ashy hair - for some reasons hair dressers don't like gold blonds in warm shades - they always want cool blond - beigy ashy - this is one reason I have gone back to coloring my own hair ... Candice will be landing in Vegas @ 9:30 this morning they were leaving their house at 2 a.m. to get to airport for 7 a.m flight... OMW she is having a long day today... Tweety - I started 250 banded 7/17/07 on 5/8/08 got to my goal weight of 160 - then by June had lost 100 lbs - then by 7/24/08 got to 145 Normal BMI - then just kept eating healthy and exercising and got to 138 I think in Sept or Oct 2008 and I have been maintaining that weight. I was a 18 pants - now 4's with one or two 2's- was a 22 top now medium... I am 5'4 and was 52 when banded.. Exercise -I did the treadmill only for the 1st 8 months - 4-5 times a week - started out very slow then every couple of weeks increased my intensity and lenght of time on it.. 3/08 I was 173 felt confindent enough to go talk to a trainer - and added weighs to my exercise 2 x week - Now I do weight 2 x week - treadmill 1 or 2 times depending on my schedule. my speeds on the treadmil now vary from 3.5 to 4.2 inclines 1 - 6 and the I will slow it down to like 2.7 and put the incline on 10-12.. If you can afford a trainer (also know if you have a buddy the rates are lower) I would highly suggest it.. The more muscles you have the more calories you burn just being - Also I told trainer that I was too embarssed to come to him when I weight 250 - I though he would think I was a joke - what's this fat 52 yr old lady thinking.. You know what he said - that's stupid trainers are here to help and they want to see you transform your body I now have muscles in my legs - my arms are cut (well would look like Kelly Ripa's if it wasn't for the excess skin) but I have defenition for sure.. Thanks !!! Gone4ever... I'm looking forward to a good time. Apples - I do play the poker machines - and I like the 3 hands one - that's what I won $250 last June at the Wynn. I will try it out - $20 bet right for one hand - I may give it one shot - but ususally play quarter machine max bet whatever that may be - but I don't think its $20 - When I won last time I was on a dollar machine trying to lose my $12 so I could go back to the room as it was late and I was tired.. Well winning woke me up - but I cashed out... Peaches is fun and yes she's a character - great sense of humor... Met her last summer and we have talked on the phone a few times - as I am trying to help her get to goal.. Your DH has eatne 2 bf so far and you still are going out for bf.. He must have a great metabolizam :0) Enjoy your day - you really deserve it after all the work you do harvesting - volunteering - partying :0).. Yes Life is good.... Charlene - are you mad at me for saying - better food choices - I hope not.. Didn't mean to hurt your feeling - just want to help you stay on track... Hey Gang Just checking in - I'm back from the gym - Arms tonite Have I told you all I will be gone this weekend - Vegas Baby...:thumbup: My Friend Peaches & her gf who lives in Canada are coming to Vegas for a girls weekend - so since I live like 4 hrs away - I'm going too (and a gf of mine) - We met last summer on our Mall of America trip - she's a lucky #7 too.. I'm staying at Trump hotel and called them today to tell them that we would be a late check in - the girl said OK is there anything else I can do for you - and I say - well could you upgrade us to a strip view as this is the 1st time my gf has ever been to Vegas and we are meeting some other friends for a Girls weekend - she put me on hold came back and said yes we will up grade you to a strip view for FREE - AND gave us $50 coupon for their restaurant and some spa discounts... Then I go to the gym - my trainer tells me he can hook me up with a guy who works as door man at a club - so that we can get right in - you know be those kind of pple who don't have to wait in line - who walk up and get right in :smile:-- OMW - I am thinking like a 30 yr old - but I hope that my body can keep up... Does anyone have any old diet pills in their medicine cabinets that they can overnight me :0) I don't have Apple energy ... Leaving Friday after work - washing right now - will pack tomorrow and hopefully be on the road no later than 4..

Toi Protein Shake for BF s/b 20 grams - then 20 for lunch then 20 for dinner.. and water between - yep it's hard but just sip every few minutes... My doc's office sold stuff - I had these clear protein drinks like crystal lite - that were really good 15 grms pt and 70 calories - go to bariatric advantage and look up clear protein drinks.. Congrats on 12 lbs - I think I lost like 9 that 1st week- but remember it will slow down - so don't let that deterr you Joann - When I first joined lbt they only had a thread called how is weight loss for pple over 50 - then when they changed the site back in june - they started more age specific - We take everyone - that's why when I started this thread - it says 50 & over gang - didn't want to lose the pple who where over 50 to another thread just cuz this say 50 :thumbup: Ruthi Glad you are doing better... -
Car you sound like me except - I do go to the gym 2 or 3 nights after work - but it's usually home = computer - dinner and bed... But this weekend Vegas Baby.. Now my trainer just gave me the name of a bouncer at a club - who can hook us up - you know we can be the kind of girls that don't have to wait in line.. Pretty cool IMHO - We'll see if we have the energy - oh I wonder if anyone has any diet pills... I may just need some... for the weekend. :0)

I am pretty sure I said something on the 50 thread - but ya my doc was doing a new commercial - 4 of us - 2 banders and 2 bypass pple but you know what - we didn't say what kind of surgery we had 10/1 we filmed - like I said I haven't seen it yet - I have seen the one with the couple (bypass) but not mine - they are suppose to give us dvd of it - when I get it - if I do - I will upload it to facebook... Going to Vegas this weekend - to meet Peaches from Canada(she post sometime on the 50 thread) she's one of my lucky #7 girls - we met in Minn last summer when we did our mall of america trip - her & her gf me and mine - are going to have a girl's weekend.. -
Ok you ate one of those fried fish mcmuffin thingies (I forgot what they are called) Did you make this at home or where you out and about and got something to eat.. Suggestion here - said with love now - but there are better food choices a hamburger patty would have been better than that fried fish patty with breading It's not that we can never eat bread again - it's just that it's not something to eat often - Like I said I treat bread as a treat - but agian I really can't say that - I use to love sour dough bread with either cheese or butter/garlic in the mircowave I could probley eat 1 small piece now but then I would want another piece in a few hours and that's what I would do - so I just don't do it.. Like I said - I do have a sandwich everynow and then - but I use the lite bread .. I haven't even attempted a roll/bun since being banded..

Hey Apples - Hugs Gf about those damn kidney stones - how awful... Glad you are doing better though... Seafood a fav of mine too - in fact I think I am having scallops & shrimp tonight... Too full to eat - well I wish that was my problem - I don't know but for the last couple of days I am hungry - but lunch was total slider food - tuna salad - crackers & 8 oz of green Beans - I am drinking a grape crystal lite right now (target brand) - I find that if I am doing something (work doesn't count) then I am not hungry - but I think the stress makes me want to munch - that's why I don't keep food at my desk.. Gain weight back - OMW child did you really say that... I know you are tall but how much more have you lost that much.. Go out an have a few cocktails :0) that should do it.. Glad you had a good visit with DS - 7 hrs drive - OMW.. Well, enjoy your vacation - we will talk to you later and oh ya WE MISS YOU AND LOVE YOU TOO.... XOXO J

Yep 4 wks of liquids is a "B".. I had grits during my mushies stage - not really grits per say - but yellow corn meal mush 1/4 c with like spagh sauce (very very fine ground turkey meat) over it with a little cheese - but you gotta becareful grits don't have any Protein and you gotta get your protein in. LF refired Beans - Mashed Potatoes made with skim milk- Weight control oatmeal (make it thin - use skim milk to boost the protein) I think tuna salad with lite mayo. I also had well done veggies like yellow crooked neck squash & zuchinne cooked together with I can't believe it's not butter spray - go to the forum tab above - and then look for the food thread - they have tons of ideas there - it's been 17 months since I was banded and I don't remember all the good things I came up with to eat - but I remember how glad I was to get to that stage...

Hey Terry - It's been ages.... Congrats on 93 lbs gone !! Yes I think your DH getting banded will be a big help getting you back on track and to goal.. You can do it - you just gotta make up your mind to do it - with the help of your band and your brain - you will get there... Hugs Janet -
Charlene - during my weight loss phase I really limited my carbs to my 1/2 cu rice at night - What are you doing trying to eat bread??? Come on now GF - Bread is a treat no longer a daily staple (I only eat a 1/2 slice when I go out for dinner)- well it's ok if it's lite bread for a sandwich - but bread & butter - gone for good - efined carbs waste of calories and to filling and no nutritional value... Congrats Long 97 frickin lbs in what 7 months - weren't you banded in June - thats FANTASTIC... Baylee - Welcome Yep you are in bandster hell we have all been there GF... I am a tad confussed if you were banded 1/13 - 1/27 is only 2 weeks.. or did you have 2 week pre-op and say it's been 4 weeks since you ate food.. Refired Beans seems to be everyones fav once they get to move to mushies.. You doc fills one month out?? I think most don't fill until you are 6-8 weeks out. As to going on liquids after a fill - that's up to your doc - some say for a few hours - for the next meal - for one day - or a coupld of days - or a week.. All our doc's give different orders - so you will just have to follow what your doc says... Congrats on being banded....

Donna - you sound just like me !!!! I have work to do but just don't want to :thumbup: Oh ya I forgot to tell you guys what a great deal I just got... I called Trump Hotel to tell them we were going to be a late check in on Friday - so the girl made note of it and asked if there was anything else she could do for me and I said yes that we are meeting some other friend there in Vegas for a Girl's weekend and that this was my freinds 1st time in Vegas and could we get an upgrade to a Strip View - she put me on hold and came back and said "YES we can for FREE, PLUS give you a $50 coupon for their restaurant in the hotel and discount coupons for their spa" Pretty darn good if you ask me - and all I had to do was ask !!! I am pretty proud of myself- this is the 1st time I ever made this kind of request - but I figured at "Donald's Place that this kind of thing is done all the time - now I feel very VIPish":lol::smile:

Hi - I have been lurking :0) I read this morning - but had stuff I need to get too and bet you guys are sick of me being the 1st poster most days :0) Kari & Phyl isn't Amercia Great - we can have diff view... and whomever is President - be it a dem or rep - he's all of our President ... Kari - I almost went red a few months back but she didn't have the color in stock and to take me to a dark red would take a while cuz of how blond I am - so she ordered the color - but by the time it came in I chicken out :smile: - I have gone back to coloring my own hair - Saving $35 buck - the box only cost $10 - WE WANT TO SEE A PIC... Phyl - I hope that you can stay in touch with that lady so that she can get the support she needs .. Steph - I guess you are right about a hotel - but it's hotel guess only and they usually have camera and sign a wavier. But do the homework and see what you turn up.. I'm not that brave :thumbup: Only $39 to Vegas OMG that's CHEAP... This was totally impromtu - Candice said she was going - and since it's so close - I thought I would butt in and go see her.. Sorta just invited myself & Phyl too - but she can't make it... So I really think that when Karri moves there - we should plan a trip !!! Charlene - sugar really ise like carbs - carbs have tons of sugar so if you are eating 40 grms of surgar you will be limiting your carbs at the same time - I am looking at a can of green Beans at my desk - 4oz has total carbs 4 - sugars 2 South Beach ceral bar 15 carbs - 10 sugar - so they really go almost hand in hand.. Becky- Yes stress can make your band tighter - Now redoing your kitchen should be fun not stressful... well not until the construction part - that will be a pain - but you gotta look at the end picture and quit sweating the small stuff - it will work out - just think about it - one way or another everything we every worry about usually works it's self out.. (that's my personal phlisolphy anyway - not to say I don't worry at times cuz I do - but I try to always find the lesson to be learn and know that this to shall pass) Becky GF I want you to eat more regular foods!!!! I bet if you start eating regular foods and not all this Protein powder - Protein Bars those lbs will start coming off. How's your hunger - It just seems like I ate more food than you are at this stage - yes I was working out more - but that's cuz I have a gym - ok old age here - didn't you join one or were looking into joining one??) Small bites - slow & chew... Sometimes if my meat is dry it will cause problems.. I want you to carve 1 hour out of your day for you... You can do that can't you.. Weather permiting go for that walk - if not drive to gym - or turn on the TV or Radio to your fave music and Dance around the house.. Move your butt in some way- Heck we are the same age - Were you a disco girl or a rocker chick - well just think back to those days and let loose... I agree Michelle looked wonderful in her gown - and I gotta say you can see the love between the 2 of them.. It will be nice to see youth in the White House.. Ruth I think you need to take your pills or call your doctor - that doesn't sound good - My Dad had congestive heart failure and his legs swell up like that ... I don't know of any home remedy that really works besides water pills Please call your doctor... -
Hey Kathy Yep - your doc sound like he wants the $$$ from the surgery but he thinks that all the work is up to you - it that was the case - then you didn't need surger - remember tell him about the steak.... If you had proper restriction you couldn't eat that much steak... Period end of story and tell him I said so.:thumbup:

History is being made today - regardless of your political view and I firmly beleive that we all have the right to our personal opinion without being attacked or critizied.. Hey Gang.. Charlene - great about dh and bypass - I think it's very individual too - I know 2 pple who wanted bands but ended up with bypass the are both doing great.. QVC - Ya I too have to take a break everynow and then myslef - really shoud never watch it again - that polish stone wear will look great in your new kitche.. ok - it's 9 I gotta hit the hay - will talk to you all tomorrow

Bev - Since my doc doesn't do fluor and I haven't had a fill since last January - I don't know if my pouch is stretched - don't even know what the symptoms of a stretched pouch are... They have a five day pouch test - which is suppose to bring it back to it's normal size - Phyl has done it - google 5 day pouch test - we learned about it at the one support group I went to .. To me if you can't eat hard protein - you could be just too tight - My doc wants me to eat regular food to get my protein - not shakes or protein bar (that was only in the beginning) he wants us to have real food - there are 7 grms of pt in 1 oz of meat - and I am lucky I can eat chicken - pork - steak - the meat just has to be tender.. I can eat pizza and sandwich bread too - I haven't tried like a sub or anything - doubt I could do that much bread.. Toy Thanks for the props - and congrats on being banded - the next few weeks will be a hard "bandster hell" when you are hungry to chew food and are still on liquids - but #1 follow your doc's order - your band is healing and you must do what he/she has told you... Homemade soups will get you thru the liquid stage they are so much better than the canned stuff - make a pot of beans - pinto navy whatever you like - after they have cooked take the beans out - put then in the blender - puree them add them back to the broth - cream of bean soup - it's was my life saver... Yes it's possible for 50+ pple to lose 100+ in 1 yr with the band - I am not typical as most commercial have that disclaimer - but it is possible - I am just a fat chick who understands how we all feel and not afraid to put it out there - you all have the same feeling as me - I've made the same excuses as all of you - heck - I had myself convinced that I was happy at 250 lbs -Hell No I wasn't happy - I was in total denial - how can you be happy when all you did was sleep and eat your weekends away - how can you be happy when just going to the mall for a few hours was killing your feet or that you would break out sweating from trying on clothes - I am talking sweating like you do when you exercise...- we are more alike than you will every know - once stories start spillling out - you will say - Oh that's just like me.. So GF welcome to LBT - It's a great place for support and freindships... No Lizalee - it wasn't me who forgot dinner (I think it was Denise/OregonDaisy who said that)- NEVER !! It's my main meal - it's the meal I look forward to it.. Now I can go all day without eating if I am out and about busy doing something - but I was that way even at 250... I am a closet eater and a night time eater... Once I start - I can't stop Even to this day I can be physically full from dinner - but I still want to eat - and I will tell you it feels like I am still physically hungry Girls learning what full means is a whole new thing - just think when you get that stuck feeling and can't eat - but you only had 2 or 3 bites - you got stuck you are full - your stomach can't take anymore - but are you really full - nope your brain is telling you - oh you had 3 bites of food you can't be full - You just wait it will pass and then you can eat again - this is why we can tend to gravitate to slider food - they are easier to eat and you can eat more (quanity) of then than you can hard protein.. Our band is only a tool... Plan and simple... But really losing the weight isn't simple or easy - it's hard work.. Yes girl you can do this - just put your mind to it and when you think you want to eat - sit and try to figure out what's causing you to want to eat.. I know when I am frustrated at work - I want to munch - but if theres nothing to munch on then I cant' munch - so i don't keep food at my desk.. AVOIDANCE has worked for me.. Apples - Glad you and DH are having a good time and relaxing- OMW - I bet he's having a hard time keeping up with you - 30 vs 35 ... Becky Hugs !!!! Ok ladies - it's 8 and time for me to eat... Fish - butternut squah and rice.. -
Kari - I will put a quarter in for you ok GF... We will take pic's and post when I get back.. Denise - Ya I can't wait to see it - at lunch today they showed the other couple who filmed that day. There were 4 of us well really five but I count the couple as one who filmed that day so I guess they will run as separate.. Can't wait to see it - I hope they give me the dvd - then phyl can help me upload it if I can't figure it out... Can't wait to see what they kept ... Sal my boss said I sounded normal - I was nervous but trying to act casual... Phyl - you don't get antena tv - you guys don't watch local news - It' won't be on LA station just KESQ 42 on antenna. Well back from the gym - cooking dinner - parking my cars and oh ya Denise - If you want to form an aliance on parking wars - I will be your bud and not ticket you - Phyl gave me some secerts on how to be a millionaire .... I did get my 4th car today..

Joann you are so right no one needs the junk - I usually bake and give to others - but know what - thought to myself when I was baking why would I give this crap to others - when I myself preach to eat healthy - so you know what I did - I gave 4 cookies on a cute plate- (one for gf & her dh) - some earl gray tea - some nice mugs - instead of a plate full of cookies like I did in the past.. Phyl does the jerky too... I have some and it is filling... -
