IndioGirl55 replied to IndioGirl55's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Congrats again Long :cursing:- I am just so proud of you and so happy for you - I know how wonderful it is to say 100 lbs gone - and those 36 will be gone before you know it and we will all be shouting in joy for you when you do hit your goal weight.. WTG GIRL KEEP IT UP !!! :tt1: -
Stomach irriation - eroded band - I don't remember exactly what - but was told no advil aleve ibprobron (sp) etc - I am lucky rarely have to even take liq tyenol - I just don't get headache or anything else that cause me to need the stuff.. Where's the pic's of Rose - I would like to see them... It's 59 here now with sun - that's cold for us :cursing: Donna - you are in Texas right??? Houston ??? - Can't remember and I hate that we can't see ticker or info about person - when responding - I do remember something about evacuating so that means you aren't close to Fort Worth cuz I am going there 2/13 and am meeting another bander PJ for breakfast on Sat or Sunday as my Aunt isn't an early riser.. Ok went to lunch w/2 dr bobby pple both bypass - it was nice... Lunch for 3 with leftovers $11.31.. Ok back to work... CBL:wink:

Beachlover - You are doing fantastic 47 lbs in just a little over 2.5 months - That's really great - and yes you have been losing quite fast and it's going to slow some - but you know like I said before at the end of 1 yr all those losses average out to one huge loss - don't lose sight of the end goal - forest for the trees thingie... Ya and I am a big tough love person - but love is the operative word her cuz I really do want all of you to feel as good as I do today... I truly do - words can not really explain how wonderful it is to be free of the fat - we all convince ourselves that we are happy being fat - but you know what as the lbs come off - we turn from the ugly duckling to the beautiful HEALTHY swan ... Sharon - Oh I was lucky I was on full liquids as soon as I got home from the hospital - and that was hard - just don't eat food before you are suppose to that's very important - I don't know how well I would have done on just broth - and truly the diff between the 2 IMHO isn't going to hurt you but I will never tell you to go against your doc's orders.... Sorry about your recent separation (except if it was a good thing :tt1:) But as a single person I think you will find it a little easier as you don't have the junk in the house and others eating in front of you - I have my teenage GS and I do cook for him most nights - but since we do eat different and always have (he's picky to a degree) I am use to cooking 2 meals - last night he had carna sada (sp) rice & Beans - I had fish - veggies and white rice.. Your Friend could have taken the beans and pureed them added them back to the broth and you would have really died and went to heaven - I don't remember if it's Charlene - or Long but one of the 2 love my cream of soup idea... and it's a good source of protein.. I like real food not processed foods so for me I cook - you will find out what works for you - but you can pick one day and cook that way you will always have something healthy in the fridge to eat... I started ww on the exchange system and that's the one I know best - Have done points but it's not ingrained in my brain like exchanges - but I tracked calories and protein grms for the 1st yr... On the treadmill oh ya I can relate - let me tell you it was so hard at first - by the time I was done I was sweating like a pig , exhausted and beat - but it does get easier as the weight comes off I go to the gym - I have an Ipod loaded with my fav fast moving music - I couldn't do it without the ipod - too boring in fact one day it ran out of battery power after 1 mile well I walked another then quit - I felt really good that evening but without my music to rock out to - I couldn't do my usual 3 miles... Do you have a t.v. in front of the treadmill - record your fav show and watch it while walking on the treadmill - even if you FF thru the commercials you will have walked 40 minutes. Distraction - I use that word alot.. You got find something you enjoy to do - that's key - do you have an ipod or heck turn on the radio - read a book or listen to a book -

CONGRATULATIONS LORI !!! :cursing::thumbup::tt1::thumbup::tt2: WAY TO FRIGGIN GO GIRL !!!:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup: I just so very happy for you and proud of the work that you have done to get to this milestone - and yes it was/is work and you should be very very proud of yourself... Just keep up doing what you are doing and Onderland will be here before you know it.... I promise you - if you do the work you will get to goal - and once you do - you are going to feel so much better about yourself - so much so that you aren't going to want to every go back to be obese - HUGS HUGS HUGS - I AM JUST SMILING EAR FROM EAR RIGHT NOW CUZ I KNOW YOU ARE ONTOP OF THE WORLD TODAY....

Rose My weight loss varied 1 lbs one week 2 the next then maybe 2.5 or 1.5 and a few weeks I may have lost 3 and a couple times for and then some weeks just 1/2 lbs - But If I remember correctly it was usually around 1.5 a week.. double Click on my ticker - and it will show my history - but truly I was just happy that each week was a loss - cuz it all added up - if you take 105 lost (250 to 145 1 yr 1 week) that averages to 8.75 a month that's 2.19 a week average even though it did vary... It's gone so that's all I really cared about and I strived and worked very hard to get the weight off in 1 yrs time. The statistic say that we will only lose 50 to 60% of our excess weight - well heck what are they saying that fat chicks don't have the will power to lose all their excess weight - I wanted to prove them wrong and I am a little competitive and stubborn :tt1: I didn't like someone saying that I couldn't do it - I am the kind of person that will show someone I can do it when the say I can't:sneaky: Exercise - I did the treadmill for the first 8 months started slow like 1 mile in 25 minutes and every few weeks I would increase my speed and # of miles walked (1 hr max workout time and i think in the beginning I did 1/2 hr then worked up to 45 then 1 hr - occasionally on a Saturday morning I might do 1 1/2 hrs as I have the time and energy as I go after work each day) and I went to the gym 5 times a week - M T W F Sat (took Thurs & sun off)- I am up to 3 or 3.5 miles in 48 speed 4. on flat surface and 3.5 on inclines up to 8 - 3.0 on inclines above. In March I got a personal trainer and started working weights - so then I did weights 2x week and treadmill 2x week - some weeks I might only get 1 day of treadmill - but I still have my trainer and do my weights 2x week. So in maintenance I strive for 4 days a week but sometimes life gets in the way and I only make it 3 :cursing: Janet

First of all - take the word HOPE out of your vocabulary - replace it with WILL - Posititive affirmations  You want to know the secert - it's to focus on eating healthy - allow for treats occaissionally and exercise - this has never been a diet for me - this has been about a lifetime lifestyle change in my eating and exercise habits - I eat low fat - limited sugars most sf - and some carbs/starches... I exercise... BF - Weigh Control Oatmeal 160 c - Dannon Lite n Fit Yogurt with 1/4 cup granola 150 c - Eggbeaters Omelet 1/2 c with a little cheese 100 c Lunch - for me it's usually left overs from the night before (fish or turkey meat loaf - chicken etc & a veggie) - plus I make what I call 1 pot wonders on sunday nights and then I have lunch for the week - a one pot wonder is just stuff thrown in a pan and cook - example - ground turkey - onion bell pepper garlic zuchinee tomatoe sauce - or chicken bell pepper onion garlic - whatever veggie your like and tomato sauce - you got the idea?? 1 cup is my portion size - I go out to lunch maybe once every couple of weeks - and have a few lean cusines in the fridge for emergencies - but I don't like processed foods much rather have home cooked foods Dinner - I eat tons of fish - I still eat fish most nights - I eat catfish (and it's good pple always turn up their noses at it but it's not as fish as salmon) Salmon - Talipia - Chicken - Turkey meat loaf - or one pot wonder - veggies with I can't believe it's not butter spray and 1/4-1/2 cup of rice 4 oz of protein - 1/4 to 1/2 c veggies and then 1/4-1/2 c rice.. (sometimes have tatoes or pasta instead) Snacks - 100 cal popcorn snack pack - sf fudgecicles - sf dark choc pudding - LF string cheese - fruit - sf yogurt.. My GF had surgery there too (bypass Dr Philip French last name) and they do have a support group here in the Desert for his pple.. So ck w/them they might know of one in your area... For me LBT has been my support - my Lucky #7 gang and my 50+ gang - LBT is open 24/7 - I went to mine once - it's like 25 miles away - I like lbt better - but some pple do better in a group setting -
-
Steph No Advil or Aleve - not good for the band !!! I think maybe you should get ck'd out by the doctor - just to make sure you didn't break anything.. Yes it's day 2 and usually that's when I get sore after exercise.. Ok I am at work - Well all I keep hearing is about pple getting laid off - I guess I should be happy I have a job - I know things are tight here too - and one person didn't come back after a leave of absence - but after 30 yrs (well 7/09) it will be 30 yrs here - I just can't get excited about work.. OMG - you know what my GS told me last night - he wants to move out when he's 18 !!! I am glad and happy that he wants to strike out on his own - that's great - but he's my baby... He thinks it's going to be easy out there - talking about moving out of here (desert) getting a job & going to college.. In his mind $1000 a month is a lot of $$$ - but not after you pay your share of the rent - utlities etc.. But I guess it will be a learning experience for him - I love that he is independant - not like my GF kids who are 28 & 26 and still live at home... Ok better get to work - I will cbl

Good Morning Gang... Darla - If you are a picky eater I understand - my DS is a picky eater and so is my GS  If your doc says to have a protein bar then have one - but not 3 - the usually are like 200 calories each - and we sometime treat them like candy and eat too much - Just focus on eating healthy and exercising the weight will come off - Vary the calories and don't go over 1200 a day and you will do fine.. Remember we didn't have bypass so weight isn't going to drop off like we think it should - 1 to 2 lbs a week is what is expected w/the band... As for my Vegas trip - no I didn't win anything really - the last machine I played on Sat night - I cashed out $5 ahead but I did shop :cool2:- got one pair of pants size 2  could not pass those up.. Tweety - Are you counting your calories - how much are you eating alot of pple gain when they move to mushies - you are in bandster hell right now - time between being banded and your 1st fill - Eat your prescribed meals - and when you are hungry - get on the computer - go clean out a drawer - distraction always works for me.. Again Focus on eating healthy & exercising and the weight will come off. Hey Becky - Didn't have time for a show - we weren't there that long and my gf Peaches wanted to do the karaoke so that's what we did Sat nite... I know you are just going to love your new kitchen you should take some before and after pics then post them - I would love to see your kitchen transformation... Congrats on your 59 your 60 will come Long - Do I hear you yelling yet?? At the outlets - I got stuff at Ann Taylors and Ann Taylors loft - You and I would have so much fun shopping - Kathy - take some long walks on the beach while you are on vacation... Ok here's a pic of me & peaches (my gf from Canada and Lucky #7 band mate) I gotta go jump in the shower - I am already 15 mins past my schedule cuz I got on the computer
-
Going to try early - maybe the site will work this morning.. Ok it worked
-
I am going to have to read my book the night pic's aren't too great... Ok gang something is wrong with the site -it won't let me open manage attachements - it's 8:30 I need to go eat - so will try again tomorrow Denise - Hugs on the DS issue - I totally understand Karri - How the tummy better Steph - How's the shoulder - I am STARVING - Tomorrow gang
-
Welcome Sharons - Yes you can rely on me. Yes this is hard (liquid stage) but you can do it... Full is a new feeling - it's something you really have to concentrate on - it's not the same full feeling that you use to get - you use to feel physically and mental full after you ate - now cuz you are eating so little you will feel physically full - but not mentally - you won't be really satisfied in other word - satiety - well this is my struggle still and I am 18 months out... When you want to eat - just get up and do something else - clean out a drawer get on the computer (that's what I do) Are you eating canned' Soups or homemade soups - I highly suggest that you make homemade soups they are more satisfiying.. - how long do you have to be on liquids? The main reason to follow orders is that you are healing right now and you do not want to damage your stiches that are holding your band in place.. This is still hard for me at time even now - right this second I am hungry - I want to eat - but I don't want to be obese any longer - so here I sit sipping tea - I am beat today went to Vegas over the weekend - but I have gym tonite - could I skip it ya - but will I NO.. I had a few treats this weekend (drinks & sweet) since I had these treats - I must exercise so that I don't gain any weight back cuz you know how it goes - oh it's only a pound - then it's 5 lbs then 10 - well you know the story - you have to stop it at 1 IMHO. Sharon - this is a journey and yes you have to retrain your brain - and this will be a struggle at times for the rest of our lives - food is our drug of choice - and it's easy to let it get its dirty little hands around our heads - telling us it's ok to over eat.. Well GF it's not - you are only 48 - so by your 50th bday you will be in such a better place than you are right now... Come back often - daily really - I find that lbt is my transfer addiction :0)
-
Welcome to you all Lilmisscarell - doesn't your doctor offer support group... Mine does at Desert Hospital in Palm Springs - if you are in Riverside area - I think that might just be a tad to far to drive.. mroseharvey - you have a lower bmi so you won't lose as fast plus you should most likely switch up your calories to 1000 -1200 a day - in my weight loss phase - I kept my calories between 800-1200 varied them daily and worked out 30-45 min 4-5 days a week and never hit a plateau..
-
Yep GF made it home just find.. Must have been posting at the same time... Oh ya gang - I cryed when I had to say good bye to Candice. That's the impact that you all have on me - I really do consider you all my family and everyone has to live so far away !!!
-
Good Morning Gang... Back from Vegas !!!! Had a great time.. Didn't get to bed each nite unit 3 or 4 a.m. !!! We didn't do anything crazy - just hanging at the machines or in the Karaoke bar.. Y'all wanta know something our "PEACHES" can SING !! Trip to and fro was great 4 hrs - and I didn't speed to much average was 70 mph.. We gambled & had a few drinks & dinner Friday - Saturday I saved Candice & her GF (really great gal enjoyed her immensely) from the slots cuz we went to the outlet stores.as they had 2 day of gambling .. OK you all know me "The Shopper" well I shopped !!- 2 pairs of jeans - 1 pair Capri's (size 2)- 1 white jean - 2 summer dresses a few tops - a pair of shoes reg 70 for 20 and a little coach cross body purse.. Saturday night dinner at this little Italian restaurant that Candice knew - oh inside was wonderful like being in an old 50's restaurant great ambiance (sp) then to the Karaoke bar - there were come character in there we laughed so much. but gotta tell y'all Candace has a GREAT VOICE - she did 2 songs. Then yesterday had lunch around 1 - and then Candice & her GF had to leave for the airport - she didn't get home til around 3 a.m her time and has to go to work today around 2...:w00t: We left at 3 got home by 7 - unpacked by 8 - in bed around 9:30 - up at 5... Didn't win anything but really didn't lose to much maybe 100/120 bucks I'll post the pic's tonite when I get home after the gym - yes that's right I have gym tonite will see how much energy I have - I think by 5 I am going to be pooped - and yes I need it - not too bad of food choices - but gotta say I did have some sweets but I always do when away from home and biscuits and gravy for bf 2 days :tt2:. Ok I gotta get back to work - had 2 messes on my desk 1st thing that's why I'm so late in posting this morning... Ok before I go - Karri - omw hugs on the tummy issues and moving - yes I really hope you move to Vegas cuz I really think the whole gang will come to see you there.. Denise - my machine has 4 cycles (hand - delicate- casual & heavy) then quick wash cycle and then the reg timed cycle. but my machine is just a regular old fashion top loader.. with agitator - I don't like the new ones without - my DIL had one and it took forever to wash one load. Phyl - yep when I got home last night at a breeze -and this year hasn't been as windy as last year.. Steph - be careful girl you could have really injured yourself !!!!! Ok now I am going to work :cool2: CBL:tongue:
-
Good Morning Gang !! I'm back - had a wonderful time - No didn't win any $$$ - I really didn't gamble that much - a little Friday night - Shopped at the Outlet stores on Saturday - Sat nite dinner and then to a Kareoke Bar as my friend Peaches sings... and that night lost 20 - then put in $20 in another machince cashed out $25 - I lost maybe $100 - $140 max. I am not a big gambler - spend more $$$ on clothes... Lucky - can't help with the port flip situation - but have read that it does happen - you are right it's more of an inconvenience than a problem. Long - WTG GIRL!!!! .8 LBS TO GO Kathy - I really don't feel sorry for you - lucky girl - be careful of the bahama mamas - but have one for me..:w00t:
-
Drho729 I responded to this yesterday !!!! I don't know what happened to my post:cursing: 1st of all you have lost 36 lbs since surgery and that's great !!! Ok now on to the work - are you tracking your calories - keeping a food diary - losing weight is all about calories in vs calories out - I am a big proponent of keeping a food diary/logging your calories (dailyplate.com or fitday.com) it's a great learning tool - I kept a food diary for the 1st year. Those protein bars are like 200 calories for most of them - why aren't you eating real food instead.. Lunch salad - how much dressing - you are just eating protein for dinner - no veggies no starches. You could not be eating enough calories too - I know that sounds strange but eating healthy doesn't mean starving yourself.. Also how much are you eating per meal - just cuz you slime doesn't necessarily mean that you have enough restriction it could mean that you ate too fast, took too big of a bite and didn't chew well enough. For me EXERCISE went hand in hand with my eating healthy - for first yr I went 4-5 times a week.. Your Wii just might not be strenuous enough - do it twice aday till you can walk outside again (1 hr total) - do you have a mall close to your house go walk there. While watching tv - during commercial stand up and walk in place.. The more you move the more calories you are going to burn.. During my weight loss phase I ate between 800-1200 calories a day - low fat - SF - I ate 3 meals plus 2 or 3 snacks depending on the calories of the snacks.. You can do this - you really can - you just need to get your butt in gear - you know what you are doing wrong - you know what your little secrets are - so quit making excuses to yourself and get back on the band wagon - You deserve to be healthy - you deserve to be fit - Love yourself enough to make time for what you want and need to do to get healthy.. Hugs - Janet

Does Your Band Stop Your Hunger
IndioGirl55 replied to IndioGirl55's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I only really do parking wars - Phyl got me hooked - there are tons of lbt pple there.. I can barely keep up with my mentor thread - lucky #7 and the 50's - I do have a bit of a life - and all this takes up so much time - you sit down and think you will answer something in 10 minutes and the next thing you know an hour has gone by... -

Steph - Congrats on the food choices when shopping that's the key just don't pick up the junk and I too am usually hungry when shopping and it's very hard not to throw the crap into the basket - I look at the calories of the things that tempt me - and that right there makes me put it back on the shelf !!!! Well, I am all packed - just waiting til 3 so I can leave work p/u deb - run by the house kiss GS and my fur babies and will be on the road... CBL :tt2:

Treating Weight Regain after Weight-Loss Surgery
IndioGirl55 replied to jzervios's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
WLS isn't the easy way out - it's work... It's only a tool - you gotta eat healthy and exercise It doesn't take away our head hunger which for me manifest it's self in to physical hunger even when I am physically full. I love my band as it did help me get to goal but gotta say it only did 25% of the work and I did the other 75% of the work - I eat healthy and I exercise - I don't eat around my band. -
How sweet that you were HS sweethearts and still together.. I am with you on the food issues - just don't start that way you don't have to stop... I will have a pinch and I mean pinch of the bread basket - but that's it... it's not so much the bread as it is the butter for me - well really the combination - I love butter too much... and just too many calories ... I have been up since like 4:20 this morning and that's with not falling asleep until like 10:45 last night... I could use a nap in a bit myself :0)... Ok back to work :0) Hugs
