Oh - I saw my commercial on t.v. last night - they really didn't do it like I thought they would - it's almost like a commercial for the station's health section and doctors - weight loss surgery they show a pic of doc bobby talking (but you don't here his words) then the couple's before pic and them dancing - then the other lady throwing her big pants away - then my before pic and then me standing there talking (but again not hearing my voice but the voice of the commercial saying - go to their homepage to check out the doctor) I look ok - you can see the diff between the before and after - but you don't here me talking - ... and the one guy who filmed with us didn't even make the commercial .. A girl at work who had seen this - said I looked big - she was just being mean - cuz I don't... But I'm dissappointed that you don't hear me talking... Well they are showing that commercial and the one with the couple so maybe - they have one of me saying how much wls changed my life - that was the whole pupose of the stupid thing..

Long my calves were the last place to go down - for the longest they stayed the same - but heck I have always lost weight like I tan (well use to ) head to toes !!!

Good Morning Gang !!! I got up late this morning - 6:28 a.m. but was at the gym at 7 a.m and did 4 miles this morning !!!! My normal is 3 miles but last night I had the rest of my seafood Pasta and then an very small real ice cone (cookies & cream - gs brought it home :tt2:) so since I ate the pasta and had that ice cream I thought I needed the extra mile :eek: - Just paid bills :thumbup: and now am sorta broke - but gotta say I loved my car gas bill only 96 for 2 cars - it was quadrupal that a few months ago.. Plus I had xmas bills to pay off Sharon - I didn't start exercising till after my 1st post op visit if I remember correctly and then it was 4 or 5 times a week but like only 1 miles those first few weeks - that was so long ago - I would have to pull out my food diaires to see what I did Ok got my books - 7/30 30 minutes 1.5 miles and here's what I ate that day Protein Drink 70 c 15 pt - oatmeal 130 c 5 pt - 1/2 c refried Beans 130 c 6 pt - v8 35 c - 1 pt - 4 oz fish 130 c 27 pt- 1/2 c mash tato 75 c 4 pt (skim milk) - Peanut Butter 100 c 5 pt - pudding 60 c 2 pt = 730 calories and 65 Protein Yep if you want the numbers - you gotta walk the walk and do the work and you will get them !!! Rose I really can't say when pple noticed - my gs who lives with me saw me everyday and he never really commented on my loss - I guess cuz he loves me no matter what - but I think that pple noticed after about 2 months - and again it will depend where you carry your weight - mostly they won't notice til you get new clothes in smaller sizes - and some pple won't say anything at all... Don't let pple not saying anything about your weight loss affect you - you aren't doing this for them - you are doing it for you - and if you use the excuse - oh well aunt jenny didn't notice I lost 20 lbs - so I guess I might as well eat that candy bar - what's the use... Don't go there... Good Morning Gang I did 4 miles this morning :thumbup: Now getting ready to pay bills :eek: Candice - What's the closes airport to you - need airport code to check out prices for airfair... Steph Hugs GF cuz I don't understand a damn thing you are talking about :lol: Sounds to complicated for my pea brain - heck school now a days is to complicated for me and I don't think the kids know any more than I did with this whole new teaching stuff - in fact I think most kids now a days don't know the common every day stuff - need to go back to the basic - reading writing and arthimatic... Now adays it all about teaching just to pass some dumb test so the school gets $$ from State - and not really teaching the subject - just have enough info to pass the test - if the kids had the foundation then then could pass the test - but when GS was in school it seemed like they were just concerned that they passed the test didn't matter that they really didn't understand the whole concept of math or whatever... Cornell notes in 6th grade - ok ya we have had this conversation before - All I needed to know was what I learned in kindergarden :0) well really up to high school but grade school was where I got my basic and I might not know who to do algerba or figure out the sq root to something - but I know how to run my life - with the help of adding machines - excell worksheet - word - email and internet... Well time to see that I am broke - cuz my bills are due - so I'll ck back after I am totally depressed :0) Phyl -- how are ya feeling - where are you going and doing I think I am staying home today - but got $$ to deposit and gift cards to spend so who knows.. We need a litte more info - see this is your 1st post - when where you banded - what's your starting weight - how much have you lost to date - what are you eating - are you exercising... You weight loss will depend on your bmi - your eating and exercise - but most of all know that this isn't a race - some have very good metabolisms - and some work extra hard to get their weight off

Good Morning Gang.... Thanks for the Bday wishes gang - You all will never really know how special you are all are to me - you say I am helping you - but you don't really know how much you are truly helping me. I am blessed to have all of you in my life.. Gotta share this - the receptionist calls me around 3 and tells me I have a delivery at the front desk and that it's an Eatable Arrangement - and the first thing I think - is who in the hell would send me a cookie bouquet !!! That's just bad bad mean terrible thing to give me... But when I got up there it was a floral arrangement made of FRUIT !!!! (well it did have a few choc cover strawberries), And guess who it was from - My X-DIL (my GS mom) - Just a great testament on what a GREAT MIL I was to her.:w00t:. But truly I love that little girl - her mom didn't have much to do w/her when she got pg w/gs and even after her & my ds broke up and she needed help, I was there for her - She will always have a special place in my heart... I took a pic an will post it - I had to take it apart to fit in the fridge - and I have fruit this morning for my breakfast... And one of the choc strawberry's for this afternoon :eek: Went to a place called Mimi's for dinner - really couldn't make up my mind - so picked that - it's sorta like a Coco's I guess - but a little better.. Has seafood fettuccine - shrimp and scallops - did well ate my seafood and just a little pasta didn't have a martini cuz I wanted CAKE - and the trade off was so worth it.. My GF who I have been friends with for 30 yrs now - was shocked to see that I could eat the whole piece of cake but just a little of my dinner - I told her the bad stuff goes down with no problem it's the good stuff that makes you full... So another indication that I am doing the work 75 % of the time and it's not just the band - Not that she doubts that I have made changes in my lifestyle - but just a little affirmation as to my dedication to making healthy food choices... The transformation that I have gone thru in the last 18 months has been unbelievable even to me.. Like Apples will contest to.. I feel so much better - healthier - stronger - more confident (and I was confident even fat) and the icing on the cake - is size 4 pants even a couple of 2's... Again - Ladies thanks you for all the love that you show me and for all the great birthday wishes - it's so very much appreciated !!!! :wub:Love & Hugs to all of you - Janet

Jacob's Mom - Welcome - Yep tracking and gym = caloires in vs calories out = weight loss - not rockect science :0) and now we have the tool to help us... You are not defeated Girl I know you ain't gonna let stupid old food control your life - it's time for you take back your life and start living as a healthy active person... 48 lbs is nothingt to sneeze at - without the band you wouldn't have lost that - so just pull up those boot straps and get back on track.... Oh ya I might not be on tonite - It's my Bday today and going out to dinner w/some freinds... 54 yrs young and feeling 20 yrs younger - at 52 weighed 250 - at 53 weighed 180 - at 54 138 - loving life !!! I hope to take some pic's tonite - so I will post the transformation in the last 2 yrs... I have attached a sample menu ok here comes my boss - bye :thumbup:

Thanks Kari - Ya those sites collect info and I bet this one does too.. cuz I see doubleclick when pages are loading and I am pretty sure that's and adware something - Car or Phyl our resident computer literiate pple would know - I just know enought to be very dangerous.... Heck in my office - they barely want to give us holidays - infact when we were HRH I had 27 pto days - when the guys bought themselves back my pto went to 20 - then we bitched enough and got it up to 25 but still lost 2 days... xoxox J Steph Thanks - it's 2 yrs really I was banded 7/07 and this is my 2nd bday since banding - last yr I had a fill that was way too tight and on 1/24 184 - 1/31 180 - but what was worse was I couldn't go out to eat for my bday last yr cuz of that fill - well don't have that problem now - and haven't had a fill since then and heck he took out all but like .01 of the fill on 1/23. xoxoxo J Aw GF hope the tummy gets better - we have pple running around with colds - so I am staying away from them.. xoxoxo J

They just don't know.. Yep I bet your family is feeling a little threatend - Pple look at us as the fat chick - they feel safe around us - we aren't a threat to them - I don't know why they think that cuz we aren't obese any more that we are a threat - We are the same pple - but I have read where pple here have lost freinds as they have lost weight - Go figure... I guess I am lucky - my friends and family are truly happy that I have lost the weight - heck right before my bro passed he called me after our visit and said that I was looking good and you could see that I was working out.. I really would like to see pic of all of you - I know this is the interenet - but heck - pple aren't going to find out - they aren't that interested... So post pictures girls - you all have seen me - I would love to see you guy and your progress... Sharon - Dear you are just like the rest of us - When I am out and about and haven't eaten and then say go to a restraunt - my old brain orders the food - taco & enchillada & Relleno & Beans - I think (operative word) that I can eat all this cuz I am STARVING... BUT - My band will not allow it and then I have left overs for 2 days... You gotta understand this is a learning process - and even now I still miss food - I miss pigging out - I am lucky that even with restriction I can eat almost any kind of food. I just choose to eat healthy 98% of the time and if I over do it like this last weekend (biscuts & gravey - candy bar - ice cream) I just make sure that when I got home I went back to eating healthy and exercise - and you know what - the scales is back down 138 from 140 on monday.. You just gotta stay on your liquids and don't eat - it's not worth the risk of damaging your stomach while it's healing... And yes other pples food smells so good - but look at what they are eating - normally a heart attack waiting to happen and as you move along in this process - you will notice how much pple over eat - don't chew - eat way too fast - and it will sort of sicken you - and you will think OMG that's what I use to look like.. Take that shake and keep it in your purse or fridge at work - get those cup of soups from Campbells that you can just heat up in the microwave. #1 make time for you - I too get busy and don't stop to eat sometimes - but have learn that taking 20 minutes to eat is for me and my health and I am worth it... I really try not to let myself get to starve - but occaissionally I do - but then my band stops me from eating too fast - not chewing and over eating - it does it's job - I just have to do mine.. Ok gang I gotta get my butt in gear - TTYL

Thank you Denise & Phyl !!!! 54 yrs young today :cool:. well I really won't be 54 till 9:30 tonight .. I am going to take a picture this morning and compare it to 52 (250) 53 (180) 54 (138) Pretty damn good if I do say so myself :thumbup: May not get it posted til tomorrow - going to dinner w/GF to night - to bad I have to work today - I think that we should all get our Bdays off.. :wink: Last night I didn't get on cuz I had Fedx when I got home My DS & Family sent me a Garmn W/bluetooth (gps) - so just after I got my tom tom figured out - I have a new one to figure out. So I was messing with that till like 11 :eek: last night. Thanks Again Girls !!!!

Sharon - I am a nite eater too - I think that a lot of us are.. This is how I handle that situation - I usually don't have a morning or afternoon snack - I save those calories for nite when I am the hungriest - even in the beginning in the evening I would have 2 sf pudding and a sf fudgecicle maybe 2. I still do this today - I rarely eat a snack in the morning or afternoon (and yes I am hungry but I know that I will have no will power at night so I muster thru the hunger during the day cuz if I ate snack during the day and then at night when it really strikes I would be way over on my calories )- but at nite I will have my sf fudgecicles and snack pack pop I feed my hunger - I just do it within my calorie budget BensonRN Apple gave great advice... NO don't wait it out... Here's my 2 cents - being too thight is not good you can damage your stomach eroision slippage etc. This is one of the issue with the band for some pple - finding their sweet spot - I don't concern myself with the cc's in my band or the size - due to the fact that what works for me isn't nessecaryly going to work for you... Talk to your doc - I think you are going to have to have some taken out - go on liquids for a few days but your doc will advise you on this - let us know how it goes.

Slim&healthy - Welcome - yes it takes some time to get use to but the more you are here the more you will know how to get around etc... Have you join the January 09 monthly support thread - Go do that and introduce yourself to other 1/09 banders - then just look around and ask questions - you will find someone who will answer - When I 1st joined I ck'd out the the banders who were banded in 7/06 - also since I am in the 50+ range :0) I posted alot their as they had pple who had been banded and could answer my questions. #1 thing I learn on here (and I joined prior to being banded) is that our band is only a tool - it's not the magical cure to our issues with food...

Car - ya 2 nights of not getting to bed til 3 or 4 in the morn... Party animals that we are :ohmy: Yep My Dear GF - I had a good time toO - but it was just too short and as you know by the tears when you left - I was going to miss seeing & being with you - it's so awful that we live so far apart - I think if we lived in the same town we would have a great time OK THAT'S IT GANG WE ALL HAVE TO MOVE TO THE SAME TOWN !!! ISN'T THAT A GREAT IDEA - NOW WHERE... Lucky - it's my Exercise for the month - My goal is to exercise at least 3 x a week for maintenance - some weeks I go 4 (this week for sure since my Vegas trip due to what I ate and drank) My Lucky #7 gang had an exercises challenge last year - so we would all log our exercise in - we just have kept it up since - it's another way to keep tract and be accountable. In my weight lost phase - my goal was 25 days and I usually made those if not more - But since I am at goal - I go minimum 3 x a week - 2 days weights 1 day treadmill and if I have extra treats from going to a party or whatever - I go to the gym more to burn off those excess calories I ate.. IMHO exercise is key in losing and maintaining my weight - I was a total slug bug prior to banding - and HATED EXERCISE but as the weight came off it got easier - I liked what I saw in the mirror - If it wasnt for my bat wings - I'd have Kelly Ripa arms - when I were a tight sleeve - you can see my muscle definition. You can see it in my legs too - and most importantly - the more muscle you have the more calories your burn just being - it take more engery to feed your muscles that it does your fat.. So another incentive to get out there and build muscles... Inch by inch - Congrats on your weight loss you are doing great !!! Yes if you are eating hard Protein in that meal and not totally slider foods then yes I would say you need a fill - I would eat my 4 oz of meat then 1/2 cup rice and 2 cups veggies - I needed a fill. That and the amount of weight that you lose between visits dictates (with my doc) if you need a fill or not - my 2nd fill was in October 07 went back 12/07 lost 17 lbs and he wouldn't give me a fill when I wanted one (cuz that's all we talk about on here is fill this and fills that and we really don't know if we need one but we think we do - I wrote about being physicologically addicted to fills at one time - but I can't find that post for the life of me - it was pretty good) so when I went back in January 07 he gave me one - well you know what I was back in his office within the week getting all but .01 of that fill taken out and I NEVER want to be that tight again and I haven't had another one since... You should be able to drink Water comfortably - not guzzle but comfortable and I love your doc - cuz his mindset is like mine 1 to 1 1/2 cups per meal - I think that's a healthy normal about of food - and even with that amount of food for dinner - I will be physically full but still hunger (head hunger - saitey) I still want to eat even though I can't - It's why we are fat in the first place - it's not that we weren't full physically - it's the mental part and the taste of food - it's our addiction.. How has your weigh loss been since your fill?? Like I said with my doc that's what dictates getting a fill or not... and girll you don't want to ever be super tight - it's awful..

BSWhip Congrats on your 50 lbs 1st of all I don't think you should concern yourself with how many cc's you have in your band - we can have the same size band and I can be at my sweet spot with 2 cc's and it could take you to 7 to get to yours - People on here are to worried about the number of cc's all that counts is that you have restriction.. Truly what is a real indication if you need a fill is how much you can eat at one sitting - by that I don't mean mashed potatoes - ice cream - chips - cookies or anything soft - those are all slider foods and that band doesn't really restrict the amount of those foods you can eat... What it does restrict is hard proteins ie meat - I can eat anywhere from 1 c to 1.5 cups of food per meal - 4 oz meat 1/4 to 1/2 cup veggies (depending on what kind) and then 1/4 to 1/2 c rice for dinner - thats about 300 calories - I am physically full after this meal - I might not be mentally full -and that's where most of our problems lie - we don't eat cuz we are truly hungry - we eat for the joy of eating - the comfort of eating - the dull the pain from eating - for each of us it can be diff - but we really do eat just cuz it taste good.. Your band is only a tool to restrict your portions - it doesn't make your food choices for you - it doesn't exercise for you... Losing weight is all about calories in vs calories burned - the band is in place to restrict/force you to stop eating - to make you full on a smaller amount of food - but you can eat around the band by eating high calories foods (fat & sugar) and slider foods and by grazing (eating something every couple of hours) A fill doesn't make your pouch smaller it make the hole between your pouch & stomach smaller - to make you full faster. We can't tell you if you have stretched your pouch only your doc can by running test. Suggestion - keep a food diary - track your calories and that will tell you what you need to do - In my weight loss phase I ate between 800 - 1200 calories a day and I varied them and I exercised 4-5 times a week. You need to learn to eat healthy & exercise for the weight to come off - this is a lifetime lifestyle change that only you can make - your band will help in making the change but IMHO it only does 25% of the work by providing restriction the other 75% is up to you by making good healthy food choices and exercise... Talk to your doc - give him a copy of your food diaries that's what he's there for to help you - does his office have a support group and are you posting on your 4/08 LBT support group...

I have been trying to reach out to some more pple - so that they can see - that this does work - in fact I bragged:wink: about you today to a person in the So Cali thread and hopefully they will join us here. Sharon - Personally in my marriage my dh was good he didn't hit or cheat - just to friggin controling - and was jealous of my DS and Grandkids - I married late in life (40) so I wasn't use to someone telling me what I could and couldnt do - so we parted ways - we are still friends - but I just couldn't take the drama - he loves drama - things would go along real smoothe and then he would find something to fight about. So Hugs - It will all work out - usually does - and look you got a guy freind bringing you soup :tt1: Charlene - I thought it was you but you know my old brain - I sometimes get you and Long mixed up - I don't know why - I was just thinking that you and her knew each other from Dr Phil - but it was her and Ellen - who we haven't heard from in AGES - I am going to email her... Well, gang I am hitting the treadmill after work - can't skip tonite - cuz I ate some treats in Vegas and a couple of drinks along with some not the best food choices - so since I did the crime - I gotta pay my time to the treadmill :tt2: So will check back in around 5:30 ish Cali time...

Chayamom I am a firm believer in weighing and measuring and keeping a food diary(dailyplate.com or fitday.com) - you don't have to do this forever just until you learn what is a normal portion size and how many calories are in your foods - knowledge is power - as fat chicks we think a pint of ice cream is 1 serving of ice cream - when in all reality it's 4 really 4 servings. A normal serving size is usually 1/2 cup - look on the container your food comes in - it gives you the portions per servings - calories - carbs - Protein etc - you gotta read labels.. 1/2 c refried Beans is like 126 calories and protein 6 grms I was able to eat this amount per meal when I was at your stage. You are going to find out every doctor is diff - you gotta follow only your docs rules I didn't get my 1st fill until 8 weeks out and that's pretty normal It really doesn't matter what size your band is or how many cc's are in it - a lot of pple here concern themselves with that and I don't know why - cuz for each of us it's totally diff - we both can have 14 cc band - I could be at my sweet spot with only 1 cc and it could be 5 cc for you.. So don't worry yourself with those numbers - the only thing you should care is the # of calories in the foods you eat and the #'s on the scale... Losing weight is all about the math calories in vs calories out - Our bands are only tools to help with the amount of food we eat. You will be in what's called bandster hell time between surgery and your 1st fill - during that time you need to concentrate on eating healthy I am not dieting - I am eating healthy and exercising.. and for me that's the secret - I allow for real treats (cake cookie chips) but not every day- I eat low fat - limited to sugar free - some carbs/starches - when I want sweets it's normally sf stuff - -

Bonnie Sorry for your struggles - {hugs} - and have a little recommendation here since you have restriction but have been eating around your band - and KNOW this is all said with love & concern for you - Have you considered seeing a counselor??? There are alot of pple who see them in connection with their bands.. IMHO the majority of our problems are in our heads and not our tummies... Cuz I still want to eat even when I am physically full - I don't eat around my band - but I am totally there with you on the head hunger issue and that's all craving candy and chips is... I see you have a mentor already - but feel free to visit us on "I'm here to Help" thread - I am very much known for my tough band love (operative word being love). I will give you that kick in the butt when you need it really hate excuses and will tell you when I think you are making them but in a nice not rude way.. You just gotta get your mind in the right place - it is doable you can achieve your goals...
