OMG I DIDN'T POST THIS MORNING - I AM LOSING IT !!!! I think I opened LBT and then the phone rang and I was on the go ever since... Karri - Yes baby girl I think that's the advice I have been spouting for a long time  - but I am glad you came to the realization - you are a typical kid - Mommy can't tell you anything you gotta learn in the hard way :sleep::tt1: How did the interview go - cuz I am coming to Vegas as soon as you settle in:w00t: Denise - Ultra sound with a band - that's werid - Some time I have a pain behind my port where I would imagine it the location of my band - Now that I am at goal - I am so afraid of loosing it... Maybe yours came unlocked - I have heard that happen before... Let us know the results on Tueday.. Glad you like the treadmil - I have an ipod w/my fav music and I rock out on the days I do the treadmil .. Donna when you say you could eat anything does that include meats like steak.. Steph - My dentist says that a toothach is due to infection so pump in those antibotics and it should help - if not get some pain meds - toothach & ear aches the worse pain Steph 15 x 365 = 5475 + 7 months x 30 x 15 = 3150 = 8625 miles - give or take a few :tt2::mad2::tt2: Phyl - it's time to go to the doctor on Monday !!!! if you still have the tummy & shoulder problems - oh - I am stuck on avocado.. I am hungry and I ate 1/4 slice way way too fast now I am about to pb -ok back - yep pb'd on avocado.. I think it's soft which it is - but I have gotten stuck on it before... Chili sounds good maybe I will make it tomorrow since it's suppose to be 64 and raining  I know that's warm for most of you but for us it's cold  I have a filet migon marinating - but chili sounds better and the lamb chops sound really good... Heck I am or should say was hungry - now still a little stuck.. Back to the tummy - it's only in the morning that it acts up?? 14 kids - no dh - no means of support - I heard her mom says you can't live with me - I haven't been watching much news - just way too depressing..
-
Rose I didn't get rain til about 8 last night and just a tad but should have some today by the looks of the clouds outside. Hugs on the Mom issue - I know how hard that is - I lost my parents 17 yrs ago - they died within 1 month of each other and I spend the last month w/my Dad in ICU and had been taking care of both of them for 6 months before they died.. food for the day was good... Exercise I agree w/DD as 6 days a week can be a bit much - you don't want to overwhelm yourself and make it so hard that when you miss that 6th day - you say oh whats the use - I found that if I gave my self some slack and didn't make exercise a chore - that I enjoyed it more - yes you read that right - ENJOY EXERCISE, that's a hard concept to beleive in the beginning but as you see your body transform you will come to the realization that excercise is part of it and it increases your endorphins too - which makes you feel better and you will need to increase lenght of time & intensty over time and as you lose weight - Heck in the beginning I would burn 100 calories just looking at the treadmill (really in the beginning 2 miles on flat surface at 3.0 speed I would burn like 300 calories) now I only burn like 75 calorie at 4 mph on flat surface - But if you are enjoying the 6 days then tell yourself - ok I will work out 5-6 days a week and if I miss that 6th day no biggie. I worked out MTWFS - took Thrus & Sunday off. Now I tell myself 3-4 days a week and if I miss that 4th day cuz life gets in the way - it's ok. But if I have been out of town for like a weekend and eaten a little higher than I normally do - then I make sure I get the full 4 days in... Tweety - Congrats on your 20 lbs and glad you now get to eat real food.. Congrats Long - I have always found that if I ate a little higher everynow and then during my weight loss phase that it would really help the scales move downward... Yep the next 5 lbs will put you in the overweight - That is a big big accomplishment for someone who was morbity obese - and before you know it - you will have a normal bmi !!!!!

OD (lol love those intitials) - I eat Catfish - I know you are going to wrinkle your nose , most pple do but it really gets a bad name for whatever reason - but I love it - I have been eating it for 19 months now... I think it's very mild - it's less fishy than salmon.. I rinse it - roll it in a litte evoo - then in some seasoned corn meal - spray with pam and bake 20 mintues 350 - or I would just use salt pepper and garlic - or top it with a can of el pato sauce - or a little parmensan cheese.. I have salmon everynow and then - I have had talipia - but catfish is meater - I eat scallops & shrimp too. A gf gave me some trout but I keep forgeting to bring it home - I like trout too.. Since I was raised cathloic back in the day - I grew up eating fish every friday night - back then we ate alot of sword fish - filet of sole (fried in corn meal topped with almond butter with shery in it oh it was good) also salmon corquettes (sp).. I don't really care for halibut - I do love good chillen sea bass but it's pricey and you have to go to the fish store to get it - I had it out last June - omw it was blacken and almost as good as a lobster tail - and I can tell you it was almost as expensive - but I had 3 meals out of that one piece of fish - I like a mosit fish.. Not dry.. Well, it sounds like you eat low fat - so ya maybe it's the meds - Welcome Miranda (love your style my kind of girl )- Julie (yep it's great to leave food on your plate and splenda is wonderful) & Peachwood (I cook for my GS and I do taste I just don't eat half the pot before I serve him ) like I use to) -
This stupid aol desktop every time i delete emails it locks up.. Phyl Do you still have your gall bladder??? When mine acted up when I was 29 - this is where my pain started... We never got any rain down here - just cloudy.. I think Thursday is a great weigh in day - cuz if you do have a treat over the weekend you have a few days to get it off I remember WW days and we had like a Monday or Tuesday weigh in's  Since I started using this aol desktop program - i like it cuz it has tabs for my diff open websites so I don't have to minimuize to move back and forth.. except for locking me up when I delete emails I think I may have pasta w/my chicken tonite sounds good Andrew had mac and cheese with his pork chops last night it looked good but I didn't have any.. You may be surprised there are alot of ladies here on LBT who have had tummy tucks way before they got to goal So don't discount it - due to the way you are built I think a doc would do it before you got to goal.. You should check into it this summer - I really think it would do you a world of good - it would be worth the $$ - it would do so much for your morale... Well it's 7:30 - TV time -- Oh did anyone watch idol last night - I loved the group white chocolate - they all had really good voices but I loved the guy with black hair and eyeliner (not his look) but omw he had a GREAT VOICE...
-
Good Evening Gang... It's been quite today - If I remember right (and that's a big if) yesterday was Longs busy day - so she must be recouping and getting ready for her 5/09 Reward crusie  Today - worked on some of my Brother's Estate junk this morning... Then just busy at work for the rest of the day... Breakfast - 1 cup cinnamon shreddit wheat - lunch Cobb salad - dinner will be roasted chicken - rice and a veggie - I made mex shrimp cocktail for lunch tomorrow. My night time Snacks will be sherbet ice cream cone 120 calories - lite cran grape juice - OH YA SHARON you don't like Water so try this stuff 40 calories 8 oz and you can dilute it with water in a 16 oz water bottle... and some walnuts and oj - right now not too hungry - had 2 triscuts when I got home from work.. Any Idol watchers??? Last night in the group thingie - I loved white chocolate - the guy with the black hair and eyeliner - OMG what a voice - they all had really good voices but to me he stood out the most - he will be in the final 11 Bonnie - how are you doing ??? Charlene - How are you?? Becky - Did you find the right paint yet?? Kathy - When do you come home Ellen - We haven't heard from you in a long time Joann - How are you doing Rose - Whats up with you - get any rain - it looked like we would but so far nothing Tweety - Hope you haven't eaten Itchy - hows the preop going Apples - how much longer is your holiday.... Well if I missed someone - please remember I'm 54 yr old  so it's allowed - it's not intentional ok :tongue2:
-
Phyl - You got rain yet - sure dark your way - I guess for once the weather pple where right - cuz it sure looks like rain.. I am a little concerned about the mamo - cuz the ultra sound girl did it then she went and got the doctor and he did it and the lumps are behind the nipple and hard to get - but he said they were ok - but to come back in 6 months - so - I guess it's ok - but that she called the doc in bugs me a little.. Glad to hear DS has a clean bill of health - that GREAT !! I bet you are releived... I could only imagine how scary that would be for a parent.. Hope the tooth thingie is not biggie - I need to go for a cleaning - Maybe I'll call next week.. 5 lbs last week was great - so don't sweat the .5 lbs - in 3-4 more weeks you will lose another 5 - it all balances out - Do you have a goal for your 2 yr anniversary???? Well I'm still in my work clothes - I ran by Stater Bros to get Andrew stuff that he likes that they don't carry at either Winco or Target - I am going to have mexican shrimp cocktail for lunch tomorrow and roasted chicken tonite... Steph how's the shoulder Denise how's the fill Karri - Hope life didn't suck to bad today.. Kari - How many miles have you put in since you have been banded?? heck you should have gone around the world by now.. Candice - Were are you - you haven't posted !!!!
-
Mamo/Ultra Sound was fine - I did find out I had 2 lumps not one but they only tested one - cuz of it's look (last August) - I go back 7/27 (already made appointment) for a full mamo & maybe another ultra sound on right boob (that's the one with all the problems)- that's when they find stuff in my July Mamo's - it seems like in the 6 month follow ups in Feb they never find stuff - but when I go back in July - whamo - something shows up... So we will keep our fingers cross Dentist - OMW I understand and feel for you - I love my dentist - but still hate going.. Ok signing out - will ck in tonite Hugs Ladies !!!

D I only counted protein and calories when I counted - but to me low fat is not frying stuff and I don't use as much butter/margine as I use to - I ate VERY high fat before being banded - the greasier the better in my opinion :bananalama: - lard in refired beans - i would make a bacon sandwich and dunk the bread in the bacon grease - i love fat - i miss it... that bacon sandwich story made my mouth water I use EVOO (olive oil) when cooking and I can't beleive it's not butter spray on my veggies - as you all know I eat fish most nites - and I cook it with a little evoo and I still eat the skin from chicken sometimes (I'm not a big chicken eater but if I make a bbq chicken thigh or breast or buy a baked chicken) I don't eat much red meat nor cheese low fat orr otherwise - and that's something I use to eat tons of was red meat - fat - cheese -
Steph - Glad you had a good day - enjoy the time with your mom - you make me jealous.. Karri - We are truly related !!!! Cuz you know what when I came out of surgery I was a real "B" too - every other word was the "F" word (per my DIL) said I was very grumpy and I remember being mean to this sweet nurse - she was really nice but I was in pain wanted more than 2 oz of ice chipsI was hot - etc and you know what the next day when I was walking around the floor - I saw her but she wasn't my nurse that day - so I bet she asked to be transferred So Work Comp screwed your Bro around for a month - that sucks - but glad he is on the mend. I would die without time for myself - so I understand - yep Saturday morning is going to be your time !!!! Donna Glad to hear that all went well with the doc and you don't have any major problems. As you know I am a BIG ADVOCATE for tracking calories - I remember you dont like to - but it will show you how many calories you are eating a day - and we truly all under estimate how many we eat..

Lap Band surgery worth it?
IndioGirl55 replied to leelevy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for the props Karen & Jazzer - I didn't write the letter it has gone around LBT before I saw it when I 1st joined in 5/07 - another bander who's a friend of mine did a little skit in her TOPS meeting using this letter the other day - So I posted again - it's so very true and maybe would help the o/p Jachut - OMW I take that as a complement from someone whom I admire and respect and look up to as a truly experienced bander !!! I think you are better and a little more concise in expressing your thought than me and I don't think you are meaner than me - We just have a diff style in the way we express ourselves - and I just try to soften the message a little so that pple don't get put off by the words - so that they can get the message Thanks Marmite - I wish that I could full express how good I feel - it is so great to get control of your life one day at a time - you still have problems - there will always be issues - but not lugging around 112 lbs of extra fat - does help in dealing with life unending issue... -
Rose Congrat on your baby getting married - hope you like your SIL :0) As to the arms - I would have to become a professional weight lifter on steriods to build enought muscle to take the place of the fat and to fill up the extra skin :bananalama: The skin issue will depend on many factors - your dna - how long it was streached out and age.. But excess skin isn't going to kill you like the fat would have.. That's my HO. My arms are terrible - My tummy area is saggy but no apron just excess skin - legs saggy - I say I have the body of an 80 yr old lady - but a pair of high wasted spanx's takes care of the tummy - pants below the knee covers the leg issue and elbow length sleeves takes care of the arms. They are cut if it wasn't for the skin - I work weights 2 x week one day legs and the other arms - do various things on diff machines... Chest presses - tricip stuff - curls Take your measurements now - and then in a couple of months take them again my waist went from like 44 to 29

Karri Hugs baby girl... Wish I could help... What did your Brother have surgery for ?? Is he ok?? Student teacher can you get another one - how long to you have to have him - tell him it's your way or the hwy.. 152 may just be your happy weight - how do you feel about that weight.. You need to carve out at least one hour just for you to do nothing if you what - you gotta or you will snap - So this weekend - 1 hour ok promise me that - go take a walk - hot bath or watch tivo of Idol.. Something mindless or just take a nap... OK one hour - you can do it !! Kari Good for you and getting to they gym that was a lot of exercise... Smashbox is a makeup line - it's high priced max factor (or one of those lines they sell at the drugstores) make up - made supposely for movies stars etc but now they sell it at Ulta - sephroa and qvc.. Ya - plastic surgery - it out of the window for now - I need to hold on to $$ cuz who know's what's going to happen - heck I heard thru the grape vine that they may be laying someelse in my office off.. So time are just to unstable to go and spend $10 on surgery.. Well, going to go cook some dinner CBL
-
Sharon Browines with walnuts are one of my most fav things - I would make the batter and just eat it sometimes.. Avoidance is what I did - I just didn't go around it and the more you stay know the stronger you will feel as you will realize you are the one in control. - I am lucky my office is in another wing not close to the lunch room where all the junk is - I just stayed away and also for me I was highly motivated so it was pretty easy to say no.. Even today when I want junk - I look at the calories per serving and that right there usualy does it for me At the corner store they sell individual pieces of cheesecake - 1 piece (and who eats 1 piece) is like 700 calories - that was all most all my daily calories in my weight lost phase and it's half my calories now - nope cuz as soon as you eat it you will want more that's what sugar does to me - I have a little and then just want more - I am still a volume eater really to a degree - I want the most food for the least amount of calories. Well back from the gym did a mile before my arm work out w/trainer - need to go see what I am going to fix for dinner - I am a little hungry.. CBL

He needs to write this letter to the other women (food) in his life and break up with her Dear Food, I’m breaking up with you. Don’t be surprised. I’ve certainly tried to do it many times before, but I always weakened and went back to you. I finally woke up and realized this relationship is not good for me. I’m not getting what I need from you. It’s hurting me, not allowing me the space to grow in the ways I need to grow. You’re holding me back. I know I’ll have separation anxiety, but I’ve stayed with you too long, way past when I should have. This just isn’t working for me. You don’t listen to me. You don’t give me attention. You don’t care about what I’m going through. It’s almost like you don’t have any feelings for me at all, yet I’ve stuck close to you, helpless and dependent. I know you won’t let go of me so easily. I know you’ll keep calling me, asking me to come back. But please, let me go now. In the beginning you were always there, ready to calm me and soothe me, but it went too far. I came to rely on you. I looked to you for everything. In all fairness, it was too much to ask of you. No way could you fulfill all my needs. For so long I’ve settled, afraid to go out there and find something better for myself. I need to do that. I now withdraw my heart from you so I can be free to put it elsewhere, some place where I can be loved back. I’ve tried to break up with you before. This time it’s real. I want to be on the cutting edge of my own life, and I can’t do it while I’m still tied to you. Thinking about being free scares me, but I want it. I must have it. I know I’m brave enough at last. I know I’ll long for you. I know I’ll think of you a lot, especially during those hard times. I know I’ll be tempted to come back to you. But this time I’ve got a plan, things I’m prepared to do when I get lonely and sad. I’ve been thinking of other ways to Celebrate when I’m happy or proud. I have remedies in place for being bored or tired. At this point you’re a troublemaker in my life and I intend to keep my emotional distance from you. So in a way, this is goodbye. Of course, I’ll still come into contact with you day to day, but let’s just be friends, not lovers. Don’t cry (although you never do, it’s me who does all the crying). -

Lee No he won't be able to eat the 16 oz steak loaded baked potato - Soup - salad & dessert after being banded - but isn't that what got us in the posititon to need the band in the 1st place. I can eat 4 oz of a good steak (filet migon from costco) 1/2 of a reg baked potato and some veggies - If I go to a mex restaurant - I use to eat the basket of chips - taco, enchillada rice and Beans - and sometime would add a relleno to that plate.. Now I go out and eat a few chips & salsa - 3/4 of my taco and few bites of my beans - I bring home the enchillada and have it for lunch the next day. Is it worth it - HELL YES for me it was worth it - I am loss 100 lbs in a year - I feel 10 yrs younger - the quality of my life has improved ten fold. I now hopefully have extended the years I have left on this earth (God willing) Food is our drug of choice - and it's a very hard thing to give up - do I miss it ya sometimes I do miss sitting down and pigging out - just like a person who quits smoking misses it - but it wasn't good for them so they gave it up - or like an alcholic missing drinking or a druggie misses their drugs but then know that it was killing them ruining their lives so they chose to give it up... Food is that for us.. How much you can eat will depend on how tight your band is - I usually eat 1 cup for Breakfast & lunch and dinner maybe 1 to 1/2 cup. I now eat like a normal person - I eat normal portion sizes - I eat healthy & I exercise - ya for me I can no longer eat a submarine sandwich - but I could eat the inners just not the bread - I am lucky I can still eat most food that give other banders problems - shrimp Pasta rice and even a little bread. The band is the tool that I needed to help get control of my life - but it only does 25% of the work the other 75% was up to me as I am the one who chooses to eat healthy (and not around my band) and exercise Our addiction to food is more mental than phyiscal - so its up to him - does he want to stay obese so that he can continue to eat like he does now - or does he want to lose the weight improve the quaility of his live and hopefully his longevity too.. Good Luck on your journey.... -
Thought you might be interested in this post on another thread " Top tummy fullness - lower tummy still hungry"... You bet and I am 19 months out - banded 7/17/07 & am at my sweet spot and I feel this exact way after mostly dinner every night... This is called head hunger - satiety it's a whole new thing - we aren't satisfied with lets say 1 cup food - yes our tummies are full but we still want to eat - we are not satisfied mentally with the amount of food that we just ate as we are use to eat 4 x as much. Think about it you are full physically and stomach growling means that it's digesting food that's all - its not that you are really hunger - as you just said you are full - but menatilly you are not full - remember they banded our stomaches and not our heads and IMHO that's where the majority of our problems are.. I say for me that my head hunger manifests its' self in to what I think of as real hunger - but how can I be really hungry if I eat another bite I will pb.. Like you said the new tummy is full.. The full nerve is at the top of the stomach not the bottom - so really this is just head hunger Gang - this is a whole new arena for us - most of the time we didn't eat cuz we where physically hungry - we didn't stop even when we were physically full - we ate cuz it tasted good - it how we got our seratonin (sp) hormones going which reduces our anxiety - soothed us do to whatever was the reason we ate was - and it could be just something as simple as being bored. Food is our drug of choice - Please understand that it's not going to let go of it's hold on us just cuz we got the band.. Yep the band makes us fuller on a smaller amount of food - but it doesn't deal with the reason we ate. Only we can do that. But I will tell you I am right there with you - most nights I eat my 4 oz of fish 1/2 c veggies and then try and stuff in 1/4 to 1/2 cup rice - and really truly I was physically full from just the fish... Just a little bit of my experience as a bander for what it's worth.. Good Luck !!!

Welcome Trenia OMW you are the worse that I have met about getting on the scales at 3 in the morn :frown: That's just too funny. Yep girl - stay off the darn scales - the doc visit is a good idea - I only went to the doc every 2 months so I just picked one day a week to weigh in... Congrats on your 25 lbs gone - that's really good Alot of pple don't feel much diff after their 1st fill - I felt mine for like 2 weeks then had to go back for my 2nd one and that one got me to my sweet spot - but I seem to be a lucky one getting to sweet spot so fast.. Look forward to chatting with you... -
Kathy Ya 2 weeks of resturant food - is a bit much - and even though we love vacation - it's alway good to get home to your own house and bed.. But I still would like a week on the beach - with a couple of cocktails of the day.. Yummy.. Yep napkins are great - I find that after I have taken too big of a bite and know if I swallow I will be in trouble - I am always glad to have a good napkin in my lap :cursing: When do you come home this weekend - heck it's been in the high 70's if not 80 for the last few days but a cold front is coming in 68 tomorrow and 64 on Sat & Sunday... This time of year it can't make up it's mind to be warm or cold...

Katy What a great post - You will be in my prayers too.. Hugs Janet -
Good Morning Gang - Sorry I didn't post last night - I had a meeting with a lady who's going to house sit/babysit my fur babies when I go on my cruise next month and then when I did get on the computer - I couldn;t get to LBT.. Sharon - I really feel that it's ok to be selfish and I really don't think selfish is the right word - even though i use it to - it's about taking care of you. This is our life too - and for the most part all we do is give give give - to our kids - our DH'S - to our jobs - and we never think about us - well ya we did - we fed our faces with food that was our reward for taking care of everyone and everything else it's what we did for us. And look where it got us - being obese pple - who really felt bad about ourselfs and were in so deep we didn't know how to get out.. I really feel that we have paid our dues and it's about time that we do stuff for US... Coffee - I can't do without it - it's what gets me going in the mornings - but mine is leaded :cursing: I need my caffine in the a.m. and sometimes in the afternoons too... Gotta say that most of the stuff I preach here is from all the stuff I have learned through the years - my life experience you would say - I am just in a place now that I am really putting what I have learned into practice... The most important thing I learned when I joined LBT - is that the band is only a tool - the ladies who use to post in the 50 thread told me think day one... So for me I knew that this was going to have to be a whole lifestyle change.. Becky - You band sounds like mine - somedays I can eat others I can't still have to eat slow - but food doesn't always stick w/me for long... I will tell you that just .01 can be enought of a tweek to get you back to staying full longer.. Rose - Yep the booby issue - it's kind of scary - but thank God all my test have come back negative - and I love our local breast institue - they are really great.. Yep don't let the scales get you down - there are alot of pple who might not lose for a week or 2 then drop like 3-4-5 lbs in one week - and the clothes fitting loser if a great incentive. Did you take your measurements in the beginning - I did and I think after 6 months I took them again.. Nope Tweety you can't eat soft foods when you are suppose to be on liquids - NO EATING TIL YOUR DOC SAYS ITS OK .. Have you made some bean soup and then puree the beans - it's a real lifesaver -
-
HERE'S MY POST FROM LAST NIGHT WHEN THE STUPID COMPUTER WOULDN'T LET ME ON - I EMAILED IT TO ME AT WORK SO I WOULDN'T HAVE TO RETYPE !!! pretty smart  I just lost my friggin post - hit submit reply - can't find the web page you are looking for - stupid ass computer... Phyl - Yep I still get gas pains in my shoulder every now and then.
