    Yvonne - Welcome It doesn't matter if you are self pay or not - even us who have insurance have co-pays - it doesn't matter if you paid $3000 or $16000 this is about your health.. I paid quite a bit at my doc has a large program fee (almost what it would have cost to go to Mexico ) Was it worth it HELL YA... I'm 112 lighter than I was 22 months ago - I feel 10 yrs younger - I have 1000% more energy - This past March I ziplined and repelled a first for me and pretty damn good for a 54 yr old grandma - who 2 yrs ago could only walk a block without being exhasuted Lapband isn't a diet - it's a tool it doesn't make your food choices it doesn't do the exercise all it does is provide restriction once you get to your sweet spot so that you are full on a smaller amount of food - it' doesn't do a darn thing for head hunger - to be successfull you have to change your eating habits (what we consider normal is what got us fat in the first place) I'm not dieting - I am eating healthy I still have treats occaissionally - it's not that one piece of cake that makes you fat it's eating the 2nd - 3rd and 4th piece that does I exercise - you do have to make this a lifetime lifestyle change. If you want to improve the quality of your life - if you want to reduce your risk of dying from an obesity related illness - Ya it's worth it ...

    OMW - you were busy - You leave Saturday - 1 week ... I had a small lite mocha frap with extra shot of expresso after work yesterday - i needed the lift :0)... I thought Thomas's parents where going - who's going to ck on the kids while you are both gone :0) Isn't someone else going on the cruise with you??

    As already stated - weight loss is very individual - some lose it faster than other - some are slower - I wouldn't question it myself if it's fast :0) I would be happy and take it :0) (I know you are) I lost 105 in 1 yr 1 week. Susan - Hugs keep us posted - your are in my prayers The new cruves machines are suppose to not increase the tension so it's a harder work out - I go to the gym - I have a trainer for weights and do treadmil - The reason for me joining the gym vs curves - is that my gym is 3 blocks from my house - Motivation will come as you see your body transform.. That's what keeps me going back Lynn - Kick in the butt here girl - Move !!! :0) - go cut the grass - weed the flower beds - vaccum even if the rugs don't need it - mop - clean your cabinets out - put on your fav cd and dance around the house and sing :0) Go for a walk - just move...

    Julie who's going to watch GD when DD comes home and needs to sleep - Those are hard hours - I know my sis did it back in the day - I watched the kids at night but she had them during the day 2 under 4 and one in school - I know she napped when they did. 1Day - Hugs !!!! Lisa yes you will be sore and maybe gas pains in shoulder - gas xstrips help and so does walking - port site is what hurts/discomfort the most - about 2 weeks for me..     Good Morning Gang 1Day - sounds like you have a little restriction - you may need a fill - but as you said you need to get control of your eating... The restriction that the band provides is a big help but it's all about eating healthy.. Alot of pple hit plateaus - if you are eating healthy & exerciseing the scales may not move - but you can be losing inches and sometime the body needs time to catch up - I think the pouch test would be good - just to get you back in the mindset of your band and working with it.. Ok this has been bugging me since last night - I knew I forgot something when I posted (well alot cuz it was a fast post) but it's about the food scale issue - Yes I have one still use it everynow and then - it was a great investment (was even telling the lady I talked to last night to get one) Its a Salter - Nurti-Weight it gives you all the nurtrtional values of your foods that you are weighing - I only used the calories and protein grams it give - but it's was/is great - Ok - I gotta jump in the shower - ck with you all when I get to work

    Good Morning Gang Thought I would post EARLY but see Karla has beat me :0) Ruby as to your struggles - hugs -- You need to get back to the basic - Go back to the beginning - I know it's hard after you have lost your motivation - but I think doing that - Logging calories (you were good at that) and following a healthy eating plan and not allowing so many treats - that's what gets us all the time .... Remember food is our drug of choice - plan and simple - I was talking to a lady last night from back east she's getting banded 6/17 - and I told her clean out your kitchen - get all your trigger foods out of the house - you would not leave a bottle of booze on the kitchen counter if you were an alcoholic so why would you leave a bag of cookies (or whatever) in the pantry. You explain this to your family and they should understand.. We have no control when it comes to food. I know that you get plenty of exercise cuz you walk and don't drive - but are you still doing your gym and karate (or what ever it was like that) Oh ya - Ruby met Karla (cremark) Karla meet Ruby - She is one of our Original #7 - maybe cuz we were talking about how many pple have left she came back - Ruby, Karla is a friend of Steph and was just banded and cuz Steph loves us so much asked her to join us.. Karla - My doc is tough after a fill its 7 days liquids - 7 days mushies - 7 days soft then back to regular food - I pretty much did that the 1st fill but the 2nd fill I didn't - I did like 2 days liquids then mushies then soft then regular.. 1st fill felt right away remember eating yogurt and almost pbing - but that fill seemed to dissappear within 2 weeks so I called and made another appointment - then my 2nd fill took about 2 weeks to finally settle in. Kari - My friend who's getting banded next month has knee issues - I told her that you just biked - she asked what kind of bike do you have regular or recumbent?? I didn't remember.. I think I am going to invite her to join our thread Karri - Did you get some sleep - I saw on FB that you realized that you aren't super human and needed some rest - did you get it?? Denise - How goes the battle.... Phyl - How's the knee doing - how long with DD be gone on vacation - is this the one with the little kids (thomas) so far I remember Tracy has the 2 older ones (Adam & Alisha) Steph - How's the back doing... Candice - When to you leave for France !!! Ok gang it's 5:30 - I can't beleive how fast time goes when you are on the computer !!! Gotta jump in the shower... Talk to you all when I get to work...

Glad you are going to change doc's give the fill some time to settle in - Ok gang sorry this is quick - I thought I posted last night but the kids were still here and I think I read but then went swimming with them cuz they left this morning Had jury duty this a.m. have to go back next monday - they only excused pple who had legal reason not to sit on a 25 day trial - it's a murder trial - Going to have to go sit thru jury selection next monday - and hopefully I get kicked off.. Family gone so now I can get back to my normal routine I promise to post tomorrow - but it's 8:30 and I haven't even cooked yet Oh Ruby 22 months out and I'm still eating fish !!! So hug and I am happy you are back Ruby - but I gotta go eat my usual dinner - How's your son !!! Sorry you didn't get to move and I skipped the gym yesterday and today - Going tomorrow for sure...     Hey Gang As you know jury duty this morning - have to go back next monday - it's a muder trial - haven't been picked yet - today they just talked to pple who could legally be excused. Meredith - I was like Apples full liquids as day after surgery - Protein shakes - creamed Soups, sf pudding - sf popsicles - sf pudding - dannon lite & fit yogurt - My doc sells Protein stuff - I love the brand proti15 I think it's called they are a clear liquid Protein drinks (like crystal lite) 70 calores & 15 grams protein Mushies - refried Beans, instant mash tatoes made with skim milk to boost the protein, egg beater - oatmeal - i think I even had spag sauce with ricotta cheese . I usually got most of my protien from pt shakes & the clear protien in the beginning - they make an unflavored protein that I would add to stuff but had to be warm curdle @ 130 degrees. Your doc should be giving you a list - My doc gave me a binder full of what to eat at each stage and there is a food thread on the main page that has tons of ideas. Bariatric Advantage is a good website too to get stuff - you can get the clear protein drinks there.. I am all about the homemade food too - it's more satisfying. I would make a pot of beans - pinto or navy beans - scoop out the beans and puree them add back to bean juice - cream of bean Soup Laura - a tweak may help - I am a big nite time eater still - I can manage my hunger during the day but nites are hard - I budget my calories to compensate/feed my hunger at night when I don't have as much will power Charlene - What is making the diverticulis act up and ya you sound tight - I have been having tmi problems but that's cuz I haven't been drinking like I should. Keep us posted Hugs.. Blklab - Ya you gotta chop up those big pills - I ate mine in pudding - but a plus is now I no longer need that pb med.. Barb - I wish I could break the night eating - it's better - it's controlled - but it's still there... Linda - I like fruit too but don't tend to eat it at home - but have it at work for bf or those times that I just can't ignore my hunger Ok gang - sorry this was short but got on the computer at 6 it's now 8 - I had a call from a lady who's going to be banded next month she lives in NY area - and then DIL called to tell me they are home safe and sound.. Your food choices aren't the best - but I think you know that What to you want - Do you want to be healthy or do you want to contintue to eat unhealthy - you can't have your cake and eat it too (pun intented) You were banded 1 yr ago - how much weight have you lost? Do you have a local support group that you can go to? How's your restriction? Sound's like you need a fill.. When was your last fill? Barb - I'm with you on Mother's Day - My Mom died 38 yrs ago and my stepmom died 17 yrs ago tomorrow - My Dad 17 yrs ago 6/15 - So I'm not big on these holidays... It's not about me - it's about my parents - But since my Ds & DIL are here - I did stuff for her - I got nice cards & flowers from them and my Grandkids... Being with them made my day.. Apples - I love blackberries too :0) - Dinner sounds good... and ya being a farmers wife or doctors wife has it's time when they aren't going to be around.. But the times that you do have w/you DH & Kids - sounds marvolus - so it makes up for when they can't always be there.. Meredith Oh I love the story about your Dad - That's so sweet - that's a conversation you are ALWAYS going to carry in your heart.. Hi Gang - I gotta be short - my DS is leaving in the morning and I want to go spend some time with them - was busy at work today my boss has gone fishing - and I got jury duty tomorrow... Had a good MD with Family - 3/4 of a biscut & 1 sauage patty BBQ chicken 1 wing & leg - 3 or 4 chips - aspaugus - and 1 slice of apple pie & ice cream and popcorn - didn't eat the mac salad..     Sounds like fun !!! Hope you are lucky !!! OMG THIS IS TOO FRICKING FUNNY PHYL !!! I figured you guys had more than enought - he's just tight and I bet he is scottish... Cutting paper towels !!! 91K on your car - ya you need a new one - and the whole issue of you getting stranded !!! I would hate that... It's the stress that's making you tight !!! Earl cooks the fish while it's frozen and meat too - Yuck - I think of it as defrosting too fast and it would make the meat bad - i guess not but - it takes about hr to defrost fish - meat longer - what about that shareing the cooking - are you guys doing that?? I KNOW you will be getting your legs fixed - I have no doubt !!! Yep spend it Candice - I wish my $$$ was cash instead of land - well do have some cash - but the majortiy is still tied up in land - I want to be able to live the life and not leave it all to the kids... OMW - these are all the reasons I'm single !!!! I'm too selfish to be married.... Well I'm off to watch a little t.v. I have gotten nails done- got md cards for dil - food for tonite (bbq ribs) - tomorrow mac salad bbq chick veggies = made a cake for ds & dil - choc - so I will be complaining next week about those 2 lbs again :0) - Planing on a piece (or 2) but that's it - I have some great strawberries... I bet your DH & fur babies missed you - 30 HOURS OMW:eek: - I don't know if I could travel for those many hours - I would need some drugs - thats just too many people to be around ... Glad you had a good time you DD & Family -- Yep slider I hear you on that one - My DS & Family are here - tomorrow is treat day - Choc cake - but we are have bbq chicken vegges and a little mac salad - I should be ok as long as I stay away from the cake !!!

    Barb Congrats on your weight loss you have done great!!!:glare: I wish my band helped with head hunger - yesterday all day I was starving - Full Moon :eek: Glad to have you join us - for me I find that post here and giving back has helped me stay on task.. Hugs on the knee issues - but glad that you are doing exercise that you can with your limitations.. Look forward to having you join our little group.. Hey Kathy - glad you are doing well on your liquids - it's hard but doable cuz you really do want your band to heal - and going back to normal food isn't hard - Just make sure it's healthy - remember this isn't a diet - its about makeing the lifestyle change in our eating habits.     Ok you have been given plenty of suggestions LOOK FOR ANOTHER PS DOCTOR ETC FROM THE OTHERS - Earl is just being tight - YOU NEED THIS FOR YOU AND FOR ALL THE WORK THAT YOU HAVE DONE IN LOSING 100+ PLAN AND SIMPLE - YOU WORKED YOU CONTRIBUTED TO YOUR RETIREMENT - TAKE OUT A FRICKING LOAN IF YOU HAVE TO AND MAKE PAYMENTS ... I KNOW THAT DR BOBBY HAD PHAMPLETS ABOUT MEDICAL FINANCING AND ALL THE PS DOCS TO DO. I WANT YOU TO KEEP LOOKING AND FOLLOW KARRI'S ADVICE ABOUT THE MED SCHOOL.. AND NOW ADAYS WITH MSRA/STAPH YOU DON'T WANT TO TAKE THAT RISK. DON'T GIVE UP - YOU MUST HAVE THE PS AND REPLACEMENT NOT ONE OR THE OTHER.. Karla - it's the full moon - I was STARVING all day today - and last night too... Had 1.5 pizza - a big bag of popcorn - then a fudgesicle - then a pudding - I just can't seem to get full - and we still have days like that - it will never end imho.. But like Karri says we aren't going to die if we don't eat for a couple of hours - that's the way I look at it too - and this is another reason I don't keep dangerous foods in my house... I went to the store tonite to get dinner for the family I was STARVING - I want fried chicken and gravy with mashed tatoes - but you know what I did - I cooked my fish - bought this big thing of strawberries for $3.00 a watermelon and bananas - Why you ask - how did I do it - cuz I KNOW I can't eat like I use to or I will end up like I use to be... Plus we are cooking for MD and I will have some macaroni salad - with the bbq chicken & veggie and maybe a piece of cake that I will bake for my DIL... Planned treats... I know that being hungry isn't going to kill me - and I was thinking this afternoon why am I starving (had salad for lunch but it didn't have much meat mostly just lettuce and dressing) so I made some ice tea (besides I was sleepy and wanted the caffine) and it helped some... But what helped the most was not giving into my hunger - I didn't buy the stuff I wanted to at the store - I bought fruit and that made me proud of me... I will not let my alter fat ego (I don't know what to name her - lets see - Big Jan that's her name) win - she isn't going to win... Some days she may - but I do my best to knock her off my shoulder when she's telling me it's ok to over induldgue .. Hugs !!!!! GREAT ADVICE !!! I love the meat story - and I guess you are wright on the # of meals 1/2 lbs per person is Big Jan talking/thinking - I just bought 2 fish fillets - they were less than a 1 lbs - and it will be 4 meals..

You CAN DO IT :eek: - For me the little journal that I could carry with me was the best - cuz it's to easy to forget that one little cracker here and there if you wait to sit at the computer to journal - in the little book you can jot down what you eat and then total the calories when you get to the computer if you don't know them while eating... You go girl - so proud of you for taking the horse by the reins !!! Glad to have you back !!!! 1Day - you are still young and kids (yes dear my DS will be 38 in July - so to us oldies you are still a kid:tongue:) now a days it seems that kids want things right now - instant gratification it will come - you need to work on you and being happy with who you are right now - everything in its time - if you do the work it will come.. ----------------------------------------------------- Good evening gang !!! DS is watching Lakers - 5 yr GD washing dishes most likely using up the whole bottle of soap :eek: 14 yr GD is with friend - DIL is visiting with friends and GS is out jogging - the boy weighs maybe 110 and he's about 5'6.. So I thought I would ck in and see how everyones doing.. Well, will ck back in a few - gotta check my other threads and maybe fb.. Today's food BF - Protein bar - 190 c 20 grms pt L- Cobb salad & Ranch - 300 calories D- Baked fish - small ear of corn - 1/2 c rice. 385 calories S- Fresh strawberries 80 c and popcorn 100 and who knows what else it's only 8:13 here in cali.

    MeMe There are many online sites that will compute your calories for you - dailyplate.com - fitday.com - sparkspeople.com CalorieKing.com My Doc gave me a small calorie counting book - you can pick them up at any book store - mines' calorie king.. Plus I have a scales that when you put 4 oz of fish on it and type in the name it gives you the calories and all the other info including protein.. Also you gotta read labels.. Gotta say that your food yesterday wasn't ideal. :eek: Healthy eating is low fat and fried foods & gravy arent - I know you are a southerner... but you are going to have to learn to cook differently if you want the weight to come off. I was a total high fat girl (my mom from texas) I loved fried greasy foods - I could be Paula Deans Daught I Love butter. I eat catfish most nites - but it's no longer fried - it's baked in the oven - and I guess if I wanted fried chick I would bake it too. I use I can't beleive it's butter spray. You were banded in Jan 09 right??? Please forgive me its hard to keep up on eveyones dates ;0) I think you may need a fill - you can eat 2 whole fried catfish??? During my weight lost phase I didn't bread my fish - I baked it plain with just garlic salt and pepper or withl pato (spice mex tomato sauce) or cajun seasoning. Those 8 oz of OJ are like 125 calories each - Why aren't you drinking your water or doing your walking.... MeMe - What instructions where you given by your doctor - what were you told to eat A Healthy lifestyle is eating Low Fat - Limited refined carbs (anything white) - limited sugar - Exercise.

    45 lbs of meat :0) that's too funny that's 45 days of food :0) - Glad you aren't stuck maybe this will be the fill. Rest til you have to do all that food saver crap - I have one too - but to use it the correct way you gotta sort pre-freeze meat so all that juice doesn't mess up the seal - I use that new wrap/seal stuff - It's easier and faster and cheap cuz i aint washing out the bags and reusing them.. Kari no you aren't forgotten - I knew I was missing someone - but it does go back to who had just posted - I apoligize- Hugs cuz I do love you and look forward to meeting you this summer. why do you have dial up !!!!

    WTG KATHY as you all know I am all about the exercise - and this is comming from a person who wouldn't walk any more than she had to before banding - I was a total slug bug.. MeMe.... No problem - we all need support and help and theres' nothing wrong in asking for it.. My food yesterday 1 c cantaloupe (sp) 75 cal 1 c dry banana Cheerios 130 cal 1 Cup Navy Bean Soup - 180 Ccal Popcorn - 300 cal 1.5 piece of pizza 400 cal Veggies 25 cal 1 sf fudgesicle 100 cal Raisians & Cashews 1/4 c 200 cal Total for the day 1410....

    Pj it will depend on how fast you walk the 2 miles.. in the beginning I did 2 miles on the treadmill and at 250 burned like 300 calories - now if i do 2 miles on flat surface I burn like 180 calories
