Lisa Mason is one of my most fav - she seems very real.. Ya on saw on FB that Bob had gotten too big for his briches - I like David better anyway.. Smashbox stuff is new - you shave it off - they have a regular foundation that's mositurising and then the glow which I love this time of year for color. Some days our hair and makeup go on faster than others - I too hate when you have 15 min to kill nothing really to do in that period of time cuz you are watching the clock - I just come to work... WTG JULIE NO PIE !!!!! So proud of you girl you are doing fantastic !!!!

Pangeaone My doc instruction 3 meals & 2 healthy snacks - IMHO you have to take the info your doc gives you and make it work for you - if you need a snack between meals - then just make it a healthy one - around 100 calories and stay within your daily calorie budget.. If you want to eat 5-6 mini meals then do it - this is a lifestyle change - you gotta take the rule and molded them in to what works for you,... There are pple here who are morning eaters - there are pple here like me who are night time eaters - some consume the majority of there calories in the morning/afternoon - then pple like me save my 2 snacks and eat them after dinner - it's what works for me.. -
Kari You are living a normal life - we all go a little hog wild every now and then especially after 2 yrs - but the main thing is to get back to eating healthy (no soda :0) ASAP... I like your challenge - it's reasonable - the 5 in 2 weeks was a bit challenging and not really feasable - that's alot of weight for us to lose in 2 weeks - it's doable but hard.. I vote for the drink - not the hot fudge :0) less calorie in the drink :0) -------------------------------------------------------- Good Morning Gang..... Not much to report since last night - had fish - fake taters (cauliflower - oh it was good) then a little more popcorn and fudgesicle... Meeting another Dr Bobby patient for lunch - we do chinesee chick & broc... Well that's about it for now - Hope you all had a good Fathers Day yesterday.. Hugs J

Hi Gang Phyl Sounds like you had a good Father's day with the family and did good eating... You know your body - it loses big then doesn't for a while and this is why I can't wait for your knee surgery cuz then you will be more mobile and I think that will help tons in the weight lost dept - do you have any water arobics up there like you do down here... I think Linda has bible study tonite - so we might not hear from her til tomorrow.. Gosh Candice gone - Steph traveling so is Karla - Denise & Kari where are you girls !!!!! Went and got nails done - looked around Marshalls bought some lotion and DGD some hair stuff - then Target - Then winco - home - had a piece of chicken & popcorn - read a little took a 1/2 nap and then cooked lunch for the week BBQ chicken - Steamed some cauliflower for dinner to go with my fish - but I'm not hungry - I think it's the popcorn - ate a big bag around 3.. Called DS and wished him Happy Fathers day - it's not one of my most fav holidays - since I don't have my Dad.. And that's about it... Well I'm hot - from being outside BBQing - it's suppose to be 113 on Wed ugh !!! Well I guess I have to count my blessings - its the end of June and just now getting hot... CBL

Well, I agree with you 100 % I love my band - and have been very lucky - luckier than most 2 fills to my sweet spot.. I like the BE eyeshadow - I like the smashbox bare mineral stuff better than BE - BE is to yellow for me and felt like a mask one my face.. And Leslie bugs me - one time she was sorta rude to one of the models... I know her and lisa are ace coom boom buddies ... I love the phylosophy lady - she seems really nice - can't think of their names at the moment - you know 50 moment ;0)
-
I don't venture to the 50's often - don't have the time between here and my #7 thread and a life :0)... Do I didn't know there was stuff going on about the sleeve person ?? And well HH is a butthead... Like I said our paths have crossed before - There are many on this board who like to get personal and attack others - I have seen some big fights - This is why I am so careful with my post - I want to give tough band love but you can't hear the tone of my voice or the expression on my face when I post - so I am very mindful of my tone and really truly try not to come off to abrupt... Yes GF I knew you weren't offended - and I always admired that you are reaching for the brass ring - I was exactly like you - but I really really wanted that normal bmi... Ya we will call it the Platinum Ring with some diamonique :0) Girls - Long use to work at QVC and I'm a big Qvc girl :0) Hugs gf - you have and are doing wonderful !!! And like I said you have been around the longest - I sent beckyo and email the other day - but no reply I miss her - you her charlene - I hate losing my kids :0)

Don't talk to the nurse talk to the DOCTOR... You can hurt your self being too tight - being too tight will lead to eating around your band (ie slider foods - milkshakes etc) ... Do they do blind fills or fluro - I have a gf who's nurse thought the same thing - the tighter the better and she was always running back and forth getting filled and unfilled - finally they got a new nurse who knew what she is doing and now she's getting to her sweet spot... -
Doodle Gotta tell you there were a few items that I hated to give away - the were in my "plus skinny size" I hung on to a few - saying I was going to get them altered - but I would alway look at those as my fat clothes - so I got rid of everything- i didn't keep anything.... I had wonderful ladies who helped me along the way - That's why I call Long my Jedi Warrior - she as been posting since day one of this thread and look how far she come - it's not just about the weight she's lost (oh someone said why doesn't she have the gold now - well it's not that doesn't but it's about striving for something that has been totally out of our reach before - even with the band we are only suppose to lose 50% of our excess weight - I think that's saying something about fat pple that we can't do it - and in 10 lbs - she has proven the #'s pple how wrong they can be - and another plus - is our age - we aren't spring ckickens any more - but look - we can lose the weight even at our age.. She's my jedi warrior cuz she knows her stuff she understand the changes in our mind that have to be made to be successfull I always say if they could only band our heads - the real problem with our weight would be solved - cuz the majority of our problem with food is more in our heads than in our tummys.. The statistics prove that threory...

IndioGirl55 replied to IndioGirl55's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yes if you can't eat at least 1/2 to 1 cup of food I would say you are way too tight - eating is mental as well as physical you have to be able to eat enough to be satisfied in both areas to a degree (espeically the head issues - as our head sitill want to eat that whole cake and will tell us we need to) What you should be eating - Protein 1st then veggies then carb/starches if any room - 60 grms of pt a day - general rule of thumb 1 oz meat has 7 grms of pt.. Low fat - sugar free for the most part and limited carbs Calories 800- 1200 a day and vary them daily.... -
Karla - yep have them design one small though - and I have to figure a place to put it.. I have one on my ankle already - I just don't know where I would put it - Yes darlling you have to add a #7 to your turtle !!!!! Connie - it will be here before you know it.... Karla - that's the problem you didn't weigh in when you got back so you don't know how much you actually gained while away - so you don't know if you had a loss this week - since the scales are the same... So hiding your head in the sand didn't help - it just made things worse.. You have to deal with a gain - not getting on the scales after a bad weekend - is denial... Denial is what got us fat in the 1st place. So after a bad weekend of food you have to learn to deal with what the scales says - most of it's usually just water weight but depending on what you ate it can be real pounds - remember it take 3500 extra food to gain a pound.. And it could be when you got on the scales today - you are retaining water - scales are fickled things and our weight can vary from hour to hour by as much as a pound.. So after I scolded you for not weighing in after your weekend - you can't take that weight as an absoult but you do have to deal with what it said.. You need to start counting calories - you give us what you eat but not the calories - how is your restriction are you still to tight?? As for the July Challenge - I think that 1 lbs a week is a good starting point - as most of us #7 are 2 yrs out and we aren't going to lose quickly - and pple like Phyl will lose 3 -4 lbs in a week and not lose for the rest of the month - That's really up to you guys - Karri & I would be strickly maintance... Candice is gone for 15 days and I assume that she will have a bit of a weight gain as she is on vacation and food choice along with adult beverages And then at the end of the month we 5 of us are going to Canada - so again our mini vacations we won't the perfert banders - but again since we are all together it will be an all or none kind of thing - we will all choose to eat good - or bad which ever the case may be.. So I don't know how good a challenge would be - those of you who want to participate can - challenge each other - Maybe you and Steph can have a challenge - See me and my DD had challenges without even posting that we were - I wanted to keep up with her and she didn't want me to get a head of her - we talked about that when she was here - it was never a public challenge and never really spoken between us - it's just the way we were - one time I got a couple of lbs to her and that made her focuse to get the 10 lbs that she usually was infront of me :0) Cuz Gf we are food addicts - cuz everything we do with others centers around food - we don't want to feel deprived - it's a b to find the happy medium... You are even - so that's better than being up !!! I know you are not an exercise girl - but if you would I bet you would see a difference - just a suggestion - try it you may like it :0) and gf it's ok to be selfish !!!! I think it's a good thing... I do it all the time !!! Steph Happy that you are .7 lighter have a safe trip.. Well gang - napped yesterday afternoon - went to bed at 9 and up at six - have been on the computer ever since and it's almost 9.... It takes along time to reply to post..... My mentor thread which I didn't post to yesterday - had a poster on my Dr Bobby thread - the 50's thread - and here and then emails .. I still haven't gotten to my paper yet !!! Well today is nails and food shopping for the week - I need to get my butt in gear.... Weather report - next week we are suppose to hit 110 !!! For me anything below 105 is fine - but 110 is hot.... ok going to go get paper another cup of coffee CBL:wub:

Dr Bobby is really located in Palms Springs, CA You want a Doctor who will actual sit down and talks to you. You want a Doctor who has a whole team ready to help you (scheduling - insurance approval - nutrition) Then go see Dr. Bobby !!! He's the greatest !!!!

Dr. Bobby Bhaske Rao - Dr Bobby
IndioGirl55 replied to IndioGirl55's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Yes Kathryn Dr Bobby has a big program fee - but you never have to pay for any co-pays or fills for 5 yrs (that's what I was told) IMHO it's his way around what the insurance companies pays and he also gives you the food for the preop diet in that program fee.. He has a nutristion on staff and you visit with her everytime you go in - Dr Bobby does your fills not an assistant - and he sits and talks to you and listens - it's not just a 5 minutes in and out with him.... I LOVE DR BOBBY - he is worth every extra penny that you have to pay... You can get care credit to pay the program fee (loan) ... Also for me having a local doctor was very important... You get his cell # incase you have any problems you have 24/7 access to him personally... There are other doc's out there who don't charge the program fee - Dr Philllip Q somthing - he's in LA and I didn't want to travel that far to get fills and ck ups as that would be a whole day off of work.. Again you can get a loan thru the Care Credit (I think that's the name) and what isn't paid by insurance is tax deductible too Again like I said Dr Bobby is worth his weight in GOLD AND EVERY PENNY WAS WORTH IT... Good Luck - Talk to them - They will help you figure out a way.. Janet -
Good Morning Gang - I read some post yesterday but had a full morning - My Fur Babies had Vet appointment at 9 - had to get to the gym by 7 so I would be home by 8 so that I could shower and dress - then didn't get home til after 12 (went and got new collars for the babies and food) then I read and napped most of yesterday :0)... 1Day - That's great - keep it up and you will get the hang of things - the more you do of that - the more it will just become habit.. Linda - You are too kind !!! The game I play in my mind to help with the fat chick vs skinny chick - is to say to myself when I meet new pple is this is how they know me - they don't know I use to be a fat chick - so I am a skinny chick as that's what they see - it takes awhile - and I have freinds who roll their eyes at me when I complain that I have gained 3 lbs... But I am very aware that those 3 lbs can have be back to 250 if I'm not careful and stay on top of them.. Congrats' on your 16's !!!!! You know what as I went down in sized - about once a month - I kept thinking that this was as low as I would get - but then I would go shopping again and the next month I was in a smaller size - Just make sure you have freinds to give your clothes away too :0) cuz that's what you will be doing in another month :0) As to your weekend a few drinks -eating a little more than normal (and gf it's sure in the heck a lot less than what we use to eat) is normal - it's life - it's what skinny pple do - they just don't do it every day - they just do it now and again.. We have to live our lives as normal pple and normal pple have a couple of drink & higher calories food - but just like you did they skip the bread and butter... WTG... And yes - trying on clothes is considered exercise ~~~~ Laura GF let me tell you when you were a 4 or 3 all you could find was 2's and when you are a 2 all you can find is 4 and 3's well let me tell you its always going to be that way no matter what size you are when you are looking for 16's you won't be able to find them - you will see tons of 2's & 1's and 14's then when you are a 14 all you will find is 18 16 -12 & 10 It doesn't seem to matter what size you are when you are looking for stuff in your size it's never there.. always tons above and below but never your size.... Who would have ever thought that looking for 4's would be a hard thing - well pple I am here to attest that it is - there are always 12' 10's 8's & 6s - I have a hard time finding 4's who would have thunk that !!! Doodle - You have the right attiditute!! and 18 is smaller than a 24 or 22 - and yes it's hard to even think you will be a 10 or a 12 - I thought the same way (and I started out at 22/24 tops and 18 pants) I was happy when I got to a 14 pant and xl tops... I thought that was going to be it - but as long as you keep working your eating healthy & exercise - it will come - I promise you it will.. As to that 1/2 lb dont' sweat it - 39.5 IS EXCELLENT WTG!! Meredith You can't get discourage - I know it's hard - cuz we are eating so very much less than we use to we think that the weight is just going to fall off - well it doesn't I know that you expected a big loss on that scale and when it didn't show it to you it depresses you - but as you say your freinds are seeing a diff and your clothes are looser - that shows you - that you are losing - that's why it's a good thing to take measurements too - there will be weeks that you may not lose on the scales but your clothes will be looser and you will go down in your sizes... Your body is re-adjusting itself.. It can just be Water weight - if you got on the scales every day - every day it's going to give you a diff # - we need our scales - but sometimes they aren't a true reflection of our progress - So please don't let that # get you down - you are doing great - just keep it up and in the end it WILL all work out... As to the 10 20 lbs - it all depends on how much you have to lose - and most of that is just water weight - I weighed 250 on 7/6 - I don't remember weighing in the morning of surgery - but weighed when I got home 242 - so on the pre-op (which was only a 1 week for me with 2 days of Clear liquids and 2 colon cleanings (had colonoscopy on 7/13 - I didn't lose crap like I thought I would have) BSW Welcome.. Congrats on your 30 lbs - Remember banders are expected to lose 1-2 lbs a week - so you are right on schedule... #1 this isn't a diet - please please don't think of it that way - this is a lifestyle change in your eating and exercise... Eating healthy isn't a diet - What we consider normal eating is what got us fat in the 1st place... What are you eating - how much are you eating per meal are you full after a meal.. Like I have said a million times for me my band doesn't take away what I think of has hunger - most of our hunger is head hunger which manifest it's self into us feelling hungry when are tummys are actually full.. But again if you aren't full after a meal you may need another fill - but we need to know what you are eating hard protiens vs slider foods. Joanne - I live my Wii fit and it's a great starter - I also got the EA but if you haven't been working out it's harder - so I say that the fit program is a good starting place - As you all know I do work out - cardio & weight training and the Wii Fitness - does make me sweat !!! My LB DD tried my EA (now remember she runs marathons now so she is in shape) when we 1st started the EA she said - oh this is to easy - well by the time we got 1/2 way thru she was sweating and it takes a lot for her to sweat,, Long, You are my jedi warrior !!! CONGRATS ON YOUR 178!!! Kath Fantastic - it's funny how pple think that some of our clothes are new - when they really were old and that we had just got too fat to fit into them - I too had tons of stuff to wear like that :0) - In fact - I had this dress I just loved - and I put it on and it was one of my skin fat dresses - well it hung on me - that was such a great feeling Remember hope is not an option - You WILL be needing new clothes by this fall :0) Well, gang - I started this an hour ago - my paper should be here - gotta see what's on sale - get dressed and go get nails & grocerys done - Will CBL Hugs

Welcome EE... Yep the pre-op is a "b" I was lucky to only have 1 week of it and it included a high Protein dinner (fish/salad) But it is in preperation to your new lifestyle... When I first joined LBT a 50+ bander told me to make my own chicken broth instead of the canned stuff - and she was right it's so much better.. She told me to freeze the meat & veggies that I used to flavor it - then once I got home I could add it to the both and have my own cream of chicken Soup (you gotta blend it really well).. I also made cream of bean soup - cook a pot of Beans (whatever you like) take the beans puree them add them back to the bean broth and you have cream of bean soup... It was a lifesaver to me - cuz after awhile you get sick of all that sweet stuff... You will be in our prayer for a safe surgery and speedy recovery on the 2nd - look forward to chatting with you.. -
Ocotillo IMHO the pple who quit posting aren't doing well in their journey to get healthy - my Lucky #7 had tons and tons of pple - now we are down to like 9 and 3 are adopted (banded in diff Months & years) and the ones who quit posting will pop in everynow and they tell us well I've only lost 30 lbs or have gained 15. I can't say I have a data to back it up really - So don't take that as an absolute 2 reasons for staying 1 is I have made new friends - my lucky #7 gets together every july - last yr we went to the Mall of America - this yr we are going to Canada to get together. I have a whole new family of friends. My lbt DD just came to visit me from Oregon - I have gone to Vegas to meet one of my #7 since she was so close - When another bander is in my area - they look me up and I am in another state I have met other banders from my mentor thread or 50's thread Also, for me LBT keeps me focused - I am not one to not practice what I preach - I had great mentors when I started and this is just a way for me to give back
-
Karla - sounds like you are doing great... I have a tattoo - sun on my right ankle and my nose is pierced - I wear a little tiny diamond - did it all before banding though... Well you know what they say about bike riding you never forget - I haven't been on one in years either - wanted to get one - but the window to actually ride it is to short - either it's too hot even at 5 a.m. or to dark when I get home from work - Phyl - I love the idea of Lucky #7 Tattoo... I'm up for it.. Canada is You, Me, Linda, Peaches of course she since she's our hostess - and Kari... I think that's it this yr. Hopefully next yr we will do the cruise out of New Orleans and then Denise will come and Karri said she might do that one cuz she would like to see if she likes cruising.... So Next yr - you me linda peaches denise karla steph karri kari that would make 9 of us - I hope I'm not forgetting anyone - I'm old too.. That would be just too much fricking fun !!!! Ya I figured that since your kid's lived in your area that's why you were living there and not here in the Desert.. Heck when it's hot you just stay in doors - no biggie Karri - Monday when I hear the street sweeper - I will think of you ;0) but ours comes around 7 a.m. - Yep never thought about living in a residential area opposed to living in a commercial area that those things (sweeping trash) would be any diff..

Lynn Most of us in this age group really have some major skin issues - but that's why they make Plastic Surgery My arms are TERRIBLE - but I will take the skin any day over the fat Headhunter - I don't have the right to tell you to stay off this thread as I don't own it - and we have crossed paths before - You should stick to the threads that are nasty, negative and attacking. IMHO you really should stick to bypass thread since your band didn't work for you - how can you give advice on the band - you had issues and if I remember correctly it was more about the doctor and surgery - but I could be wrong so don't take that statement as an absolute.. There are many here who don't want the major intestinal surgery and that's why they have chosen the band over bypass - That's their right - that's what's right for them. WLS is an elective surgery - just like plastic surgery - so it is up to the individual to choose. This is not to say that pple shouldn't do their research on all forms of WLS - but once they have - it's their decision and their decision alone. I had to fill a questionnaire out at my doc office on my eating habits and what I ate - based on that he suggests what type of surgery he would suggest - but again - it was up to me and what I wanted to do with my body. I agree too that some need the malabsorbtion process of bypass due to their eating habits - but like I said that after a few years the intestines start absorbing again - so if they haven't changed their eating they are going to regain the weight... But again this is an elective surgery and it's their choice... So I guess you are saying that I have more than weight issues - since I still want to give pple choices on how and what they do to their bodies.. ah - well I might be a bit of a control freak but not that much that I want to take away their constitutional rights ! And if you noticed my ticker - I think I have a pretty good handle on my weight issue - Since I'm a food addict it will always be a struggle - but today it's under control !!! Peace out HH - Wishing you a pleasent life - with some joy and happiness and not all the negative b.s. you like to spread. PangeaOne - No weight loss surgery is what it's all cracked up to be - if pple don't follow the rules - change their eating and exercise habits - People think WLS is the magic cure to their issues with food.. So many pple out their think that WLS is taking the easy way out. So it really depends on the individuals perspective. I don't care what kind of surgery you have be it bypass/band/sleeve - the weigh can be regained or not lost at all or not all the weight that should be lost is lost - With bypass they have the whole malabsorbtion issue - they don't asorb their calories - that's why they lose the weight so fast - but eventually their intestines adapt and they will start absorbing more calorie as the years go by.. Heck yesterday I say a lady who had bypass - she weighed about 200 lbs and had the surgery 4 yrs ago - well was told that she use to be double that size - even with bypass she didn't get down to a normal bmi.. Thanks Ladies - like I said HH & my paths have crossed before - He's a bit all or none - and just like other on this board it you make a statement the can twist that statement to suit their purpose.. Example I never said you weren’t “fine”. My post had nothing to do with you. Did I say that he said I wasn't fine - My statement was to the statement of his " Somtimes, a fill WILL help, to a certain degree.....usually, a limited degree, though." That's not true for everyone... What should have been said is that it can take more than one fill to get you to your sweet spot - or if he wanted to he could have said - You know that this is one of the issues with the band - finding that sweet spot can be hard for some and easier for others and I wish you the best.. Well I gotta go get dressed for the gym ... Thanks again for your support ladies!!!! -

HH I've only had 2 fills and I am just fine and almost 2 yrs out.. As to focusing on surgery you prefer opposed to the surgery that's right for you??? It's up to the individual to determine what's right for them... -

Like I said you are in Bandster hell - It will all depend on your doctor if he is agressive or not with his fills. My 1st fill felt right away - but was gone in 2 weeks - the 2nd fill didn't settle in til about 2 weeks out and have been at my sweet spot ever since. Don't give up yep - your band is a tool and that tool isn't going to work properly until it's been filled and it may take more that 1 or 2 tuneups to get you to your sweet spot. In the meantime - just eat healthy and if you are diabetic you are staying away from carb/staches and sweets - if you are hungry eat extra veggies - that's what I did.. -
Peaches al la mode ;0) Have a great time - Remember we want pictures !!! just eat like the french do and you should be fine :0).. We are going to miss you... OMW only 4 weeks til Canada !!!!! (well starting next Thrusday ;o)) So it sound like your dog or another dog bit DH's dog and that's what cause the infection - I guess I missed that story.. Glad she's on the mend that's what's important.. Hugs again have a great time !!! xoxoxo Janet

PangeaOne You are in what is called bandster hell the time between surgery and your 1st fill. You say you are hungry - but are you full after eating your prescriped meal. IMHO my band didn't take away my hunger issues - I will be physically full after a meal and still feel like I want to eat more - I can't but my body wants more food.. I do stay full longer on a smaller amount of food - but my head hunger issues manifest themselves into me thinking I'm still hungry. I had a salad for lunch today - I am physically full - but right now I want to eat - I would give my right arm for those donuts in the lunch room - but I know that - it's my head talking not my stomach :0) Gotta say that it takes time to understand what your new full feeling is all about - after a meal (1 cup) I would sit and continplate my stomach - I still wanted more food - but i realized that it was my addiction wanting to be fed as when I really sat and thought about it I was physicall full.. -
Linda It was so funny I remember sitting there with my frapaccino and you saying you would be right back and saw sorta where you went - but I hadn't remembered us going into that store - but when Karri and I walked in - It hit me - Oh this is where Linda went - so you had special scented stuff made up for you DD & DIL.... I like the frapaccino's but not addicted to them they are a once in a while treat when I need caffinee and out and about Have you tried the ice coffee's - I never thought in a million years I would like an ice coffee the whole thought discussed me - but I thought oh I drink a frap so really what's the diff - you get the sf hazelnut and lite - I think the calories are like 80 when made with skim milk that's for a medium... Yep everything does seem to evolve around food... All you can really do is say ok today I am going to eat this and tomorrow I am not going to eat that.. Today I brought a salad w/avocado & one pot wonder for lunch - well - I was looking at it - I brought a big salad with 1/2 of an avocado plus dressing 280 cal estimated - then my 1 pot wonder 250 cal estimated - well combinded that would have been 530 just for lunch !!! So I froze the one pot for next week and ate the salad.. I wanted both - I could have most likely eaten both - but truly I am not physically hunger So you just gotta choose your posion - today or tomorrow and stick to it - and remember gf you like those adult beverages :0) - so if you have an adult beverage - no dessert that's your dessert :0)..
