  3. Mel Those are the things you have to do and it's normal to be hunger in about 3 - 4 hours after a meal - My doc says 3 healthy meals and 2 healthy Snacks. I find distraction - keeping busy very important - as boredom was/is a big big food trigger for me - It' one reason LBT has become my transfer addiction - you can't eat as you type :0)

Yep just goes to show you that if a 52 yrs old woman can do it there is nothing that can stop a young one (29) from being successful too.. 1st thing to understand is that this isn't a diet - it's really about a lifestyle change in our eating.. Exercise - I am big on that - I started out slow and just worked my way up - and it's so much easier now.. I am glad that you are doing it at this age and not waiting - I think to myself why did I waste so many years being fat - You will see how much the quality of your life improves after you lose the weight Hugs Janet

Good Morning Gang... As of 3:15 a.m. this morning I am the proud Great Grandma to 5 kittens (don't think one is going to make it ) I have been giving it cpr - it was all alone under my bed (this is where Sheba had her kitten - I woke up hearing kitten cries) It was still in the sack and it's the biggest one it's breathing but that's about it - and the cutiest little runt that's strong !! They all are red tabbies like Mom - so I guess the bastard that took advantage of my under age kitten and got her pg was the other red tabby that I had seen around the house and not the white one. Went to bed about 10 - another no sleep nite - I helpped clean them up - they are all now in the box feeding - but Sheba's so furry it's hard to find her tits.. So here I sit drinking my french press coffee (need the extra caffine again today) another nite of not much sleep. Ok need advice - I was young and don't remember how I took care of Jasmine my other cat who had kittens a long long time ago - should I put food and Water and the kitty litter box in the spare room where we have them right now.. I don't think the dogs will bother them but both Andrew and I have work today... Anyone know ??? Congrat Cheri !!! WTG !!! I will ck out the pic's - love the avtar... Julie my gf you gotta come !!!!! You need to break out of your shell - You have done so well on your journey - you have lost over 100 lbs and for the last few months you have been thru hell and back with all your medical problems - We love you and you are a part of this group... We are all in diff stages of our journey - some are maintaining some are still losing - So Don't let your weight stop you from enjoying life - this is why you got banded in the 1st place.. And if your DH want's to come - that's fine too as long as he doesn't mind being around a ton of women - on our 1st lucky 7 gathering Phyl's Dh came - it's great with all us girls and the last gathering we had 2 dh's - they mostly did stuff by themselves but on Sunday Linda's hubby went to Elvis church with us and spent the whole day with us.. [QUOTE=melinda_205;1306070]Its been a while since I have been on this site. I find it a little ironic that before I had the lapband surgery I was on here just about everyday and since surgery I have visited less and less. Ok, I need some help. I had surgery on July 1, 2009. My doctor gave me a little restriction at that time so I wouldn't be hungry in the all liquids phase, after that he waited a month to give me a fill. Since then I have got a fill every 2 weeks, I am up to 5 right now. The doctor was only there for the first fill, since that time it has been the nurse. I tried to talk to her (not so friendly) to find out what I am doing wrong bc I honestly dont feel like I have very much restriction but all she told me was "it is very seldom that even a man goes above 7 or 8 so you will probably be through with your fills pretty soon". I know that the band doesn't do the work for me but I dont think I am filling up as fast as I should. I can eat more than I was told that I would be able to eat without feeling stuffed or sick. I am not measuring how much I eat by getting sick, I am just trying to find something that most of you can relate to. I want this to work. Can some of you bandsters that have been successful please give me a few pointers to help me. This isnt bandster hell is it...this is way too fast to be bandster hell right? Thanks everyone!! Melinda Hugs on your struggles - how much can you eat and what were you told to eat - what are you eating and pouch full is totally diff than what we are use to (thanksgiving full) If you are eating slider foods you aren't going to feel full (not even pouch full) and if you do it won't last long.. Give me what you are eating - are you eating off dessert plates and 1 cup bowls ... Bandster hell is when you don't have restriction. But like you say - you make the food choices not the band. Are you getting any physical activity in - I don't remember if you had a ticker or not - what's your weight loss been since 7/1?? Well Gang gotta jump in the shower it's almost 5:45 - GS went back to sleep - I woke him up when the kittens were born - but to me why go back to sleep at 4 when I get up at 5... Julies - Please reconsider coming - it will be good for you - it will be the 1st of many new experiences that you will be able to enjoy in this journey to lose our weight... I really really believe it with be therapeutic for you to come... You have all us to lean on !!!! We are your family now too

I don't think the dogs will bother them but both Andrew and I have work today... Anyone know ??? Karla - Great score - it was meant to be - see good things do happen!!! I won't eat veal after I saw a 60 mintues thing on how they treat the calfs when I was like 20 - but lamb I eat - I grew up on it we had it every Easter. My dad kidded me that I really ate mutton - I use to buy new new zeland spring lamb (it must have been really cheap cuz this was when I was llike 18 - cooked it and my whole apt complex smelled of lamb (mutton) But to me if you are going to eat something like that it out to taste like lamb not beef - so I like it gamey - but these were lamb shoulder something - they were good. Well just had to report to my Family - You guys are the first ones I think about telling my life stuff to... Isn't that bizarre. Oh Phyl I didn't put the xmas blanket in Sheba's box but another red blanket - you remember how I told you Sheba loves red - she suckles & claws it - Well it's 5:18 now need more coffee - So I will ck in later. Steph - How are you doing??? Are things a little better today.. I am so happy that Michael & the family is going to get the help that you all need.. Karla - Yes our Karri is ocd - really another word for it but she is totally focused and a total perfectionist - but when she was here for her visit in July - She did get to relax and last night on facebook I read where she had a great workout - so she is taking care of herself some.. I told her to come and report in on our new thread...
  7. I was 52 when I was banded 7/07 - I am now 54 and 112 lbs lighter - feel 10 yrs younger - have tons of energy - the quality of my life has improved 10 fold... It's the best thing I have ever done - Don't know why I waited so long... Good Luck on your Journey..
  8. My 1st fill was either 6 or 8 weeks out - I can't remember but I think most doc do them during that time. Some do it earlier but your band is still healing and imho not a good idea.. You are in bandster hell - the time before your 1st fill My band didn't take away my hunger - it keeps me full on a smaller amount of food and most of our hunger is more head than physical - I can be physically full right now (and I am at my sweet spot) and I still want to eat - and it (head hunger) for me manifest it's self into what I think is physical hunger.. Just eat healthy - if you are starving have extra serving of veggies - this isn't about dieting but changing your eating habits and try and get some physical activity in.. You can do this - you didn't have major surgery to continue to eat unhealthy - Our band is only a tool - it doesn't make our food choices - We do - and even with the band it takes will power to make these changes... You can do it - Like I said have an extra sf fudgesicle - or pudding - low fat string cheese - a piece of fruit - or a little more meat at your meal time or extra veggies.. Good Luck...

Apples - President's weekend would be good time - that way I could like take Friday off and don't have to be back to work until Tuesday.. As far as full I usually get full on my hard Proteins - then wait a bit to eat my veggies then my starch... Like you said you know your full - and sometime it takes more to feel full than others... Laura - when we went to Mall of America we stayed in hotel (homewood suites - loved those they were like a studio apt) When we went to Canada - We stayed at Candice's house - she had a basement so there were like 2 other bed rooms down stairs and 3 up stairs. Well I have gym tonite - arms - I didn't tell you all earlier - but grandson came home late - and woke me up (2:15 ish) and I couldn't go back to sleep - I stayed in bed til like 4 then got up and colored my hair - can't believe I am not exhausted - but will see how my workout goes - I bet I fade fast...

Good Afternoon - just a quick ck in.. Apples - I should be able to swing Feb and fab that you will orginize Watermelon - ya I can eat it more than 1.5 cups (w/salt too!!) but I have gotten stuck on it sometimes - but that's usually cuz I eat too fast and don't chew :0) But again I am not so tight as some are - Like you I can eat just about anything.. Meredith - Congrats on the loss - You will learn during this journey how your body is going to lose it's weight - we are all diff and I don't think it's too early to share your story... Eva - I never went to college - did upper bacularrett (sp) classes for my designations (I have intial's behind my name AU Associate in Underwriting & CPIW Certified Prof Ins Woman - but these were home study programs and then you went to a college and took 9 essay questions test that each had 3 parts to 1 question) I was in my 30's - Right now I don't have the time to study/learn - I guess I could on my own - Like you maybe when I retire :0) Laura - you just go to the lapband site and sign up - I did that along time ago (1st banded) have been back once or twice but in 6/08 I was invited to be on a advisory council and went to las vegas on them :0) Glad your Dad is doing better - Hugs with Nelson and yes the babies sometimes are more grown up than the older ones Great - I got these wonderful cookie from Baratric Choice Peanut butter 160 cal and they are huges & soft with 15 grams of pt - Proti Diet - I orderd choc & oatmeal yesterday - I keep them at work - they are my pre-workout snacks Also got some pt bars double peatnut butter (barwise) again 15 grms pt & 150 calories again to die for - ordered choc yesterday... Again I don't know if I will keep these at home cuz they are too good and during the day I have will power and nite - it's not so good - so I don't want to tempt myself.. Larry - Thanks - I feel great !!! It's normal to be nervous we all were - but as you can tell by reading the post here - we all feel it's the best damn thing we could have done for ourselves - and pretty soon you won't be able to sign off with your Fat Friend Larry :0) Well gang gotta get back to work - ttyl Hugs

Good Afternoon Gang !!!! I dislike teenagers very much right now - and guess who I am disliking - GS came home at 2:30 - dogs bark and then I can't go back to sleep !!!! I maybe napped a bit but gave up at 4 and colored my hair - then had huge fight prior to going to work - he says he's moving out - well right now I hope so.. Yep GF I am a jail bird - go back and read it's pretty funny now - then it wasn't.. Glad to hear that things are at least going in the right direction with Michael.. Will continue prayers and hugs and being here for you... Karla - Excellent advice - I have a GF who is just like this - she keeps blaming herself for how her kids have turned out and that they are not who she wants them to be... I told her this morning she needs some counselling as she was a good mother (but just like most of us gave too much to them) they are adults and make their own choices and that's on them not her.. I Karla - I saw on FB that her & DH were at the beach last weekend - I haven't gotten any emails lately - she has a big vitiman defency - due to adrenal gland failure - the doc said it was due to her rapid weight loss - but when I googled it I read that it was mainly caused by stress - and we know our girl stresses :0) Thyroid issues too have something to do with it - don''t remember all the specifics - but she is on tons of vit and is feeling better - I bet it's the b12 shots :0) Well just cking in !!!! I have gym tonite - that's if I make it... Right now I am still wired from all the coffee

Foods that I try my best to stay away from - Sweet (mostly any and all kinds except I don't care for chip ahoy cookie they can be in the pantry and poptarts) cheese and High Fat foods. I baked Cookies at Xmas when I was 6 months out and still in my weight loss phase - I just didn't eat any of the sweets at work and did an extra day or 2 at the gym - didn't gain weight that xmas - Did the same thing this last Xmas (but gotta say it almost got out of control this year) I love raisins (oatmeal raisin one of my fav) I love cocunut too - Gotta say there isn't really anything I don't like. If it's in the house and I can't say No it goes into the trash or into GS room... I grew up with the whole straving children in china - and Popeye clean plate eat your spinach - but these things are what made us learn to eat past full - (well me it didn't cuz I had do dishes and I was alway scraping the pots for the last bite of this or that - I was the only one in the family (us kids) who wanted 2nds) Ya it's wasteful - but I really beleive in better in thee than in me - and if I have thrown something out - I am less likely to buy it again cuz I know I can't say no to it.. Laura - Hugs on the Dad's med problens - Continued prayers - I know how frustrating it is.. Fill - Only you know if you need one or not - if you feel restriction and are losing weight then you don't need one.. I really only had 2 fills - cuz all but .1 was taken out of the third cuz I was too tight - My last fill/unfill really was 1/08. With my doc you go in every 2 months for the 1st year - he won't give you a fill if you have lost weight - When I went Dec 07 said I needed one he said no you lost 17 lbs since your last one - but called in January said I need one that's the one that got me too tight.. They say as you lose weight you are losing the fat around your stomach and that's why you have to keep getting re-adjusted - well - I must not have had much fat around mine cuz I don't need one.. Sometimes I think I could use a tweak - like today had salad for lunch wasn't full at all then had some watermelon - lunch was over and I was still straving - went and found some peanuts and had a handful and was fine after that.. Our bands are very fickle - some days you are tight others you aren't. It up to you - I'm comfortable eating 1 to 1.5 cups of food for dinner and being full - I never want to only eat 1/4 cup or 1/2 cup of food for the rest of my life - I love food too much - being banded has changed that - What has changed is me - in knowing that I can't eat tons of unhealthy things and expect my body to stay as it is now... Cheri - I would love to go back to school just for the sake of learning - not getting a grade and writing papers - too much work :0).. I would hate writing and correctly at that :0)

Phyl - That's a great picture - yep prior to my dog ticket I was the only person in my family never to have gone to jail (between bro's & sister) and it was fact I was very proud of.. I am the joke of the family - about that dog ticket - and ya it was a good story now - but that cop pissed me off hand cuffed me - tightly - had red wrist for a few hours after wards... You may be stressed - or flu - either way - don't try and eat - I think you need to go on full liquids - and if it doesn't stop go to the doctor... Karla - there was nothing wrong with your sandwich - you are suppose to eat foods to make you full on a smaller about - 1/2 sandwhich is a reasonable about and cal were fantastic - I had salad w/lunch meat ck - onion and avacado and then a piece of watermelon - should have been full - but wasn't - had a hand full of peanuts which did satisfy me.. I have sandwiches every now and then - Well back to work

Good Morning Gang... Welcome Dee - My secret - following the rules - eat low fat mostly sf and limited starches - Protein 1st then veggies then starches - Eat slowly - chew and no drinking with meals During my weight loss phase I kept my calories between 800 - 1200 and varied them daily - and I exercised 4-5 days a week by walking on the treadmill. Food - Dannon lite & fit yogurt - weight control oatmeal - egg beaters - tons of fish and I still eat tons of fish. I still eat alot of fish - but I also have chicken, pork and beef. I made a lot of what I call one pot wonders - protein of choice - veggies - tomato sauce - seasoning (go back to page 1 and read forward to find the recipes.. and I took these to work for lunch for the week - eating 1 cup. Snacks - sf pudding - fudgesicle - 100 cal snack pac popcorn - I really just followed all that I had learned in my previous attempts to lose weight - You know in WW they say this isn't a diet - it's a lifestyle change - well I finally understood what they were saying - our normal eating is what got us fat in the 1st place - it's not about dieting its about eating healthy and exercising - I am not on a diet and never have been through this whole process - I am just eating healthy - I have treats now and again - I live life - but I just do my very best not to over indulge. I feel 10 yrs younger and have tons of energy.. Don't know why I wasted so many years being obese and trying to tell myself I was ok with it... Sharon - It sound like your DD is in a rehab - I have had same problem with DS - He's ok at the moment - and I pray for his continued success in beating his addiction - he's gained like 80 lbs - but I rather have him fat than on drugs - if I have to pick between 2 evils - I would choose food any day.. Drugs are the reason I got my GS back when he was 11 and have had him ever since.. If – I am glad you stuck up for yourself and demanded an earlier appointment – our bands are only tools and the tool isn’t going to work unless it’s maintained … Eva – I have a hard time with food when away too – especially fast foods – I was never a big ff eater to begin with. The last car trip to see DS I did take my own popcorn to much on in the car Great – Yep those little tweaks make all the diff in losing just 5 lbs over a period of time. Courts – there will be delays after delays – Hopefully the guy pleads out and your dh doesn’t have to testify… Laura – Glad your Dad is doing better – Your menu sounds fine.. Especially the tequila ) – I have only had bander company – so it was easy to cook and when DS & Family is here – I just cook what they eat and meat and veggies are always band food.. Julie – So glad to here you are feeling more like yourself – On the fill issues tell your doc to numb you up before they start sticking you – that’s what my doc does.. Charlene – How are you doing Meredith – you are doing great and yes salad is a good filler.. OneDay – Thanks Girl Apples – I know how hard it is to catch up – TTYL. Well gang I got to get to work – I will cbl Hugs !!!

Lucky #7 are still going strong !!!

Good Morning Gang Yep I am all unpacked and nested. But this morning I forgot my new pictures that I was going to bring... Today will be my 1st real day over here - the biggest problem is that my back is to the door way (openning I have no door) so anyone walking in can see what's on my screen  - but luckly I will hear most coming so should leave me enough time to click my work screen At my other desk anyone walking in couldn't see my screen so I was lucky there.. Karla - No leash laws - omg I got a ticket years ago (20 at least) for my little muffin - I ignored it - then one Saturday morning after an all night party on our way to eat mexican - I california stopped a stop sign (ran it)- there sat a cop - he pulled me over - ran my name had a warrent for my arrest for the stupid dog ticket - guess what he did - he hauled my ass to jail - Yes ladies I am a jail bird . I looked like a damn hooker I had on one of those strapless smock dresses a pair of mules (heels) and my hair was long and blond and very wild - we had just woke up and on our way to eat - All the cops in the Sheriff station were laughing on why the cop had brought me in for - My gf went and got my bail $82 and had me bailed out by the time they finished booking me - and then the stupid cop - said I was lucky I got him and not some asshole - well I held my tongue - he could have told me to take care of the ticket on monday - he didn't have to haul my ass into jail.. Just keep sticking to your healthy eating you are going to drop 3 lbs in one week.. You fish sounds good - Phly 1 week from today is your surgery... I bet you are excited.. How was Earl's hike - Hiking just doesn't appeal to me - 6 hours hell no 1 to 1.5 hrs is my max at exercising. Yes we all want to know what you cooked Candice - touch up already ?? Have you figured out where you are going on your maiden voyage?? How's your mom - only 2 months til wedding - what's the date. Steph - the place where Michael is should be able to help you I would think - continued hugs - prayer and love - we are here for you... Linda - Just go to work - do what you have to come home and let it go - that's what I am doing... Denise - Shout out to you - hugs & prayer on Mom. Kari - Hope you are enjoying the time w/Mom Karri - I guess we have to go to FB to talk to you - I saw where you guys were at the beach. Did you have fun.. Well I need to ck other thread and get my butt in gear before everyone gets here. Hugs :hurray:

Had gym tonite and then had to go food shopping since I didn't this weekend... Ya could have been the chocolate or the whole Andrew rummaging thru the house - After I got back from bf on Sat morning - I told him to call Goodyear and see if he left them there on Thrusday... Sure enough that's where they were.... Gf -I know just how you feel - a gf at work asked if I was down as I wasn't my usual self - I'm ok - still trying to adjust to my new work station and I was tired... Didn't sleep well last night. For the reason you stated - I feel that's why alot of us over eat - I know it was for me - It's what I could do for me to comfort me cuz I was always taking care of everyone else.. I didn't have the perfect sibling sistuation as you have - but I always felt that my brothers had it a lot easier than me growing up - they lived on ranch property didn't have mortgage or bills - where I was the struggling (somewhat my dad did help) single mom - But when it was all said and done I know my Dad was proud of me and how responsible I was - So I'm lucky in that - Hell I'm the only one left - of my blood brothers mother & father.. So I don't have that stuff anymore - just the loss of them... Hugs - We understand - We are here for you... Nope Candice Did the penance on Saturday:0) Well birth order - I am the eldest of the children from my parents marriage - but my Sister is 7 yrs older but we have diff Dads and she didn't come to live with us until she was a Freshman.. And yes I know I am blessed and that these little problems are really nothing to complain about ... But it was bugging me that I was so bummed about nothing.. I'm with Linda - I am sick of responsibility - I have been responsibility since I was 16 - (well most of the time ;0) Karla - yep the battery issue was contagious - my gf candy who picked me up from the shop and took be back to work Friday - called friday nite to tell me - that while she was out and about Friday afternoon - her battery died on her too.. Are you actually logging every bite that goes into your mouth or are you guesstimating - and it could be that you body is catching up with alll the weight you have lost - just keep plugging along and it will come off Awe Steph GF Hugs !!!! Ya sometime life is nothing but the shits!!! Hugs & prayers that things smooth out real soon.. Come and vent - it does help to do that I know last week with my minor crap - I felt better after I typed it all out.. Well gang I wanted to post so that you knew I was alive - it's 8 and I gotta figure out what to fix for dinner and make my salad for the week.. Hugs & Love & Prayer to all of you ---- J
