    Diarrhea -help!

Do you all worry that the diarrhea will cause you to get dehydrated? I feel like more is going out than in! I can't imagine going back to work with this?

    Diarrhea -help!

I was sleeved 6 days ago and have had terrible diarrhea since I got home from the hospital. I asked my doc about it at my one week post op visit and he said it was normal. I've not tried any milk yet, so thats not causing it. I really have to keep hydrated because I have it so often! Yuck!
  5. First of all, I'm not a wimp and have had a lot of surgery over the years. I expected to pop back from this like I did from Lapband and hysterectomy. Of the 5 incisions, 4 do not hurt at all. But my lower right side is killing me! It was getting better but I had some vomiting last night, so now it's killing me again, like it did right after surgery. I'm 5 days post op and still taking pain meds, which is totally not like me. I normally don't even have the pain meds filled at the pharmacy. That lower right incision is dented in deep, which is weird to me too. Anybody else experience this? I go back to work on Tuesday.....only took a week off because I'm such a fast healer. Ugh! I see the surgeon tomorrow for follow up.
  6. I am from the DFW area and was sleeved a week ago. I would love a buddy with some success under their belt.
  7. We are definitely "sleeve soul mates", as I'm one week out today too. I've had the same down moments....and am so ready to feel good! I'm shocked when I read on here that people didn't have any pain and don't have to take pain medicine!!! I'm not a wimp, have had A LOT of surgery over the years, and have a high pain tolerance. One week out, I'm still taking pain medicine at times and feel pretty crappy! I had my one week follow up yesterday with the doc, and he said I'm doing great. I looked at him and said, "you can't be serious". He said to remember that I just had MAJOR surgery. I just had 2/3 of my stomach removed. It was a major assult not only to my stomach but to my entire body. My nutrition has completely changed, so my body is responding. No wonder we feel bad! I would like to enjoy this week off work instead of sitting around the house, but finally realize that I won't be running marathons for quite awhile and need to respect my body and let it heal. Keep in touch and let me know how are you are doing. My Dad always used to say, "this too will pass.....keep your chin up"!
  8. I used a heating pad for my back, but took pain meds for my front!

    So much pain

I'm feeling SO MUCH better now! Today is my 6th day and my first fever free day. My lower right incision area is still sore but definitely tolerable. I see the doctor this afternoon. Thanks for the support!

    5 days out

I'm envious that you don't need pain meds! Usually, I pop right back after surgery, but I'm still on pain meds due to the extreme pain in my lower right side.. All of my other incisions are fine and don't hurt at all.
  13. Do you have one incision area that hurts a lot more than the others?
  14. May142013

    5 days out

Hi! I was sleeved on Tuesday too and have had nothing but clear liquids: beef or chicken broth, gatorade, jello, crystal light and plain water. I don't get to start protein shakes until my doc sees me on Tuesday. It's interesting how every doc is different. I still have a lot of pain in just one of my incision areas, but tolerating pain meds well. Bless your heart' it sounds like you need some different pain meds that your new little tummy can handle.

    May 2013 Sleevers!

Well, I'm 5 days post op and had a big step back yesterday. I ran a low grade fever all day yesterday, then diarrhea and vomiting started last night. I ended up needing IV fluids and phenagran to get things settled down. I feel MUCH better today but the area around my lower right incision hurts like hell, so taking pain meds again. I think the pain is from the vomiting and the stretching to wipe (sorry...TMI....but diarrehea is not fun when you cannot properly bend to take care of yourself!) I'm praying it's all uphill from here!
  16. I'm 4 days post up and have been running a low grade fever for the last 24 hours. My discharge papers indicate to call the doc for fever over 101. I've been running 100 to 100.8, so have not called. It's just enough to make me feel crappy - light headed and sleepy. I'm doing well getting in my liquids (peeing clear and often) so am definitely not dehydrated. It makes me so mad because Ive been doing great! Has anyone experienced this? Thanks!

    Low Grade Fever

Did you have other symptoms such as burning when you pee?

    So much pain

I was sleeved Tuesday and am still taking pain meds off and on. The area on the low right side is what hurts the most on me. Walking helps....it's the up and down that hurts. I've also been weepy. I'm not sure why! I don't regret my surgery...but am ready to feel good again. I've been running a low grade fever which is making me feel crappy.....so I just cry and cry. My poor husband!
  19. I'm four days out too and have a lot of gas. Gas X strips help with all of the gurggling. I've not been truly hungry at all and I'm not allowed to have protein shakes at this point, only clear liquids.

Not enough time has passed but

I can see the difference! Keep up the great work! I'm 11 days behind you and this gives me such great hope!

if you like to make your own popsicles---

Use coconut water to make popsicles.....YUM and healthy!
  22. I was sleeved on the 14th too! If I don't sip and take too much in, then I feel nauseated, so have used a small medicine cup to help me remember. I've been sipping water, coconut water, G2, chicken broth, and sugar free jello. I also made Popsicles with coconut water which feels really good on my throat, which was a bit sore from surgery. I have four little cups lined up right now......reminding me to sip and sip often!

    May 2013 Sleevers!

I was sleeved on Tuesday and doing great! I'm not ready to run a marathon by any means, but the pain is tolerable. I slept 8 straight hours last night, so this morning was very painful, trying to get out of bed. So....tonight, I'm going to set my alarm half way through the night, so I can walk around the house and sip, sip, sip. 8 hours of not drinking or walking was way too long! My bed just felt so good after two nights in a uncomfortable hospital bed. The recovery is not as bad as my hysterectomy, but more painful than my Lapband. So....really not bad at all!

    Surgery Tomorrow :)

How are you doing three days out? I'm sore but doing well otherwise. Sip, Sip, SIP!!!!!
  25. I'm all hooked up with my IV, fashion gown and party hat! Ready to roll!!
