For a once a month meeting...Denton and Keller aren't that far. We have people that come from Forney,. Waxahachie, Oak Point, Prosper, Ft. Worth.... And no reason to wait until after surgery for those that are pre-op. This is a great opportunity to get questions answered from people who've been thru it and you can find people who've used most of the surgeons in the Metrolplex too!

THINspirations Weight Loss Surgery Support Group THINspirations is one of DFW's only patient-led support groups. We meet the 3rd Saturday of each month in the Plano/Frisco area. We used to meet at Season's 52 restaurant, but that is changing effective January 2014. In the 11 months that THINspirations has been around its members have lost well over 2,000 pounds and counting as a result of WLS and hard work! The comraderie and friendships that have come from this group are nothing short of amazing as many of our members can attest. I'm on Gabapentin for neuropathy in the lower legs and feet. I was also taking this post surgery as well, It doesn't help with the incision pain. In fact it doesn't help a whole lot for the neuropathy. Google it, it's prime function is for seizures.

Sounds like your creatinine level is high. If I were to guess, you are most likely diabetic also. If so, has your blood pressure, diabetes and any diuretic (for swelling) medication been adjusted? The Protein in the urine doesn't come from too much protein but in the way the kidneys process it. Think of your kidneys as a strainer. When diabetes attacks the kidneys it tends to make the holes of the strainer wider, allowing the kidneys to dump protein in the urine and not process the protein properly in your body. I spent five nights in the hospital for this during my pre-op diet, and have my surgery delayed 18 days until my creatinine level returned to normal.

120g of Protein is extremely high for what's needed post WLS. I'm not going to argue with your doctor, but you sould be fine on 60-80g of protein. The 60-80g of protein isn't just for a phase, but should be the goal in the new nutritional habits you're forming. You don't want the weight loss to be a loss of muscle mass, you want the weight loss to come from fat loss. Vegetables and grains initially aren't as important as the protein, Fluid and protein first.. Veggies after protein

Greetings! Would like to let you know of our informal support group that was started a month ago. Many of the hospitals have more formal support groups led by nutitionists, nurses, etc. that are more topical in their approach. We get together once a month on the 4th Saturday as a group of WLS patients. They range from people just considering surgery or pre-op to those who are quite a few years post-op. I myself am within 90 days of having my surgery. This month's meeting (as was last month's) is at Season's 52 in Plano on Saturday, March 23rd at 12:30. If you've never been to Season's, it's a restaurant that specializes in serving fresh seasonal offerings and everything on the menu is 475 calories or less. It's perfect for most of us, with the exception of those on pre or post op liquid diets. We'd love for you to join us. Dallas Area 2nd Informal Support Group Meeting!!! Last month's luncheon meeting worked out so well, we're going to do it again, on Saturday March 23rd at 12:30 at Season's 52 in Plano at the Shoppes at Legacy!R RSVPing is very important as I gave them a number last month that was larger than the number of people that showed up. The meeting yesterday was great! We had 16 people there and i think everyone enjoyed it and got a lot out of it. Everyone found something enjoyed on the menu and the service was great. We had our own private room, too! We all agreed to continue this on a monthly basis on the 4th Saturday of the month and agreed to go back to Season's 52 next month and probably ongoing until we outgrow the space. So...
