I hear you about the money I'm saving everything I've got and my mom is loaning me some money to cover it all. I'm nervous about the passports, I haven't been able to get the photo done let alone get the application turned in. I'm having surgery march 4th, need to get my passport! I have some chicken broth and Protein shake mixed stocked up, I do have a shopping lust put together but going to wait until feb to go shopping for more. I'm super excited and can't wait to have it do and be back home healing and losing it's all I think about. I keep planning things I wanna do once I've lost weight

Low Bmi'ers...how Long To Goal?
fletcherette replied to Carrie's Journey's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I'm a low bmi'er. I stand 5'3 and cw is 193. I am having surgery in march and can't wait! For those who say they are losing weight slowly with the sleeve did you also lose weight slowly when dieting before the sleeve? -
New guy here, you've GOT to read this!
fletcherette replied to BigFrank's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I have to say iggys story shouldn't be ignored it definitely is a cautionary tale for anyone considering this surgery. However I feel that some posters sometimes can be unnecessarily harsh and rude in their responses. I get that they are passionate about this but there, in my opinion, is never an excuse to be rude when someone is posting questions or looking for support because you can get your point across without attacking people. that's the negativity I see here, and just because some have stated their dislike for this negativity doesnt mean they are ignoring truth or should find a different site. It would be wise to remember you catch more flies with honey then vinegar -

fletcherette replied to BigFrank's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm glad someone finally said what I've been thinking. I have learned to avoid any posts by the negative certain people. I agree, there isn't enough inspiration on these forums, I understand the risks and have enough fear and worry on my own without the constant postings to remind me. Thanks for posting your story its encouraging to read stories like yours! -

The Top 5 Things You Will Not Miss After Vsg
fletcherette replied to SkinnyMinnie2Be's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I will not miss 1: sweating profusely even when the weather is freezing and having people ask if I'm sick 2: looking for any excuse to wear pants with an elastic waist band 3: feeling my chin on my chest when I'm curled up in bed 4: friends trying to set me up with overweight males because apparently that's all I can attract 5: the feeling of being embarrassed to eat anything other then a salad in public because I think people are judging me That's just the tip of the iceberg there are many other things I WON'T miss -

Anyone had the sleeve done in MX with complications?
fletcherette posted a topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I've been reading various posts about people who've had some horrific complications after the surgery. I was wondering if anyone who has had the surgery done in Mexico (any surgeon) with complications afterward wouldn't mind sharing their complication story? I am NOT interested in hearing stories second hand, would like to hear from people who have experienced it themselves -
Getting sleeved 3/22/13 in TJ, Mexico!
fletcherette replied to AmandaL's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome Amanda! I understand the lack of support because I am a "low" bmi people think I should just exercise more. Problem is I have busted my buns exercising and dieting for numerous years to only see the weight and then some come back. Thankfully my mom has had wls because she was morbidly obese and understands my struggle. I find the people who think I'm taking the easy way out are those who have never struggled with weight or want to keep me down. But I know without a doubt that I'm making the best decision for me so haters can hate -

Pre-op "what ifs" without medical insurance?
fletcherette posted a topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I currently do not have any health insurance but am covered by my countys medical program (which allows for PCP care, ER visits and most hospital stays). I am concerned that once I have the surgery in Mexico IF I have any complications afterwards I may not receive care, or will have to foot a very large medical bill and being a college student money is tight. I am going to call and see what the county program covers BUT I am paranoid that if I call and ask such a specific questions about being covered after out of country surgery they will like note it in my file or some such thing. Is this crazy thinking? and if the county program won't cover any pre-op complications what would be my options for receving care? Lying about where I had surgery? Or just being prepared to pay a large hospital bill should anything happen? Any input is appreciated-thanks! -

Back issues-Spinal block in Mexico?
fletcherette replied to Curtoña's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I had the same concern ( have steel rods fused to my spine for scoliosis) I'm seeing dr Garcia talked to my coordinator she said he doesn't do it but to remind him prior to surgery of my back condition -

Stretch Marks Please Help
fletcherette replied to Carol Watts's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As everyone has said they wont completely go away but they will fade with time. I have found that strivectin or bio oil helps speed up the process of them fading. IME strivectin worked the best but its a bit pricey -
Today I Was Called A ...
fletcherette replied to does not matter's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
As a teacher you deserve more repect, regardless of your weight or of the students. I also teach, but chose elementary education because I knew I wouldn't be able to handle being called names by older students. Teenagers are rough. Stay strong, your new life is right around the corner. Being called a skinny B***ch would be a compliment to look forward to in my book -
I'm 5'3 and 195. I'm not being sleeved until march but am so looking forward to it! Being overweight and short is difficult -not much body space for the extra weight! Loved reading through this thread, yay shorties!
