Pre-op diet tomorrow... TIPS?
Alikfield replied to Alikfield's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
9 days. Then two days of clear liquid before surgery. What's unjury chicken? Is it a broth? I heard broth is good but has to be really hot... With noodles. KIDDING! -
Pre-op diet starts tomorrow
Alikfield replied to emmyjeep2's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I start tomorrow (Friday) too... I was given Optifast shakes and bars from my surgeons office. I'm sure it will all taste like crap but I'm so looking forward to starting to feel better i don't care at this point. How's it going for you? Was today your first day?? -
February Sleever!
Alikfield replied to alexagonzalez's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm February 12 as well... Don't worry about the pre-op diet (check with me in a week and see if I'm still saying that!!)- think about two months from now when we will be smaller versions of ourselves and that pre op diet will be a distant memory. :-) Hey, when we're hungry we can meet up on here and chat about all the things we're going to do and wear when we're thin! Good luck girls!!! -
Anyone else?!

That has to be a great feeling!!! :-)

Yay! That's all I have to say! :-)

What did you tell your children?
Alikfield replied to Linda 66's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was really excited to read this thread but what a disappointment. :-( Can't we all just get along? I have a 4 yr old and almost 2 yr old And have been wondering what to tell the 4 yr old- since she will notice my absence the most when I'm in the hospital. Going into details about the surgery and why is way too complicated for their little minds to understand. Not sure what to tell them. -
How long did it take for them to approve you once they had all your stuff? I have my last nutrition appt on Monday next week and then they are sending in my "packet"... Curious to know the wait time! Obviously super anxious!!!

Shooting for early-mid February. Have completed almost all my appts. Just one more meeting w nutritionist and ultrasound. Very excited. Congrats on your weight loss so far! Inflamed gallbladder huh?? I hope it's ok! :-/ it's hard enough to have to go through the post op process... -
Haven't been able to take ibuprofen for the last five days and fighting some viral thing. Hope I wake up tomorrow feeling ok! Very excited about getting knocked out so I can have some uninterrupted rest (said the mom with two kids : 4 and 1 1/2 old) :-)

And if you think about it- a big bag of dried dog food is 20 lbs! Imagine that!!! -
Sounds like they are taking good care of you- that's good. I'm sure you'll be happy to get home though! Good luck with the rest of your stay. Hope you are feeling less nauseous by the minute. I hate that feeling over all so that must suck! :-/ looking forward to your next update. :-)

How are you doing?? Updates!!! :-)

Need thoughts on this... All of you who've had the upper endoscopy... I'm able to do it on Christmas Eve morning. My husband and I are both off of work that day and the two kids will be home. We don't have plans other then a nice dinner together that night and sitting around the tree, fire and Christmas movies. Will this procedure ruin my entire day or should I just do it that day and get it over with?

How exciting! Thanks for letting us know how you feel so soon after. I think a lot of us are worried about that part. Hope you're having a nice restful sleep. :-) Congratulations on the first day of the rest of your life.

4.5 month post op before and after pics
Alikfield replied to LLuce's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
That's fantastic about the 5k!!! My goal is to be able to run one next October. I did that particular race in 2011 and completed it in 46 tubba lubba minutes. It was really hard to do but I wanted to try and get into running. I obviously didn't keep up with it. It's so hard carrying all this weight and running. I told my physically fit sister who runs 5ks often to imagine herself running and carrying both of her boys (5 and 9 yr olds). 85 lbs is fantastic! You'll definitely lose that 40 you're trying to get rid of by running. You look phenomenal too!! Just showed my husband your before and afters and he said "wow she clearly works out!!" -
does anyone have a similair experience?
Alikfield replied to Lhollingsworth's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm sure all the protein has something to do with not being hungry!! Sounds pretty decent though. I'm a teacher too!!!! How long are you going to take off after surgery? -

I'm in my appointments stage (2nd appt out of 3 with nutritionist coming up, GI specialist tomorrow, mental eval next week)... Shooting for mid Feb surgery. Surgeon said as soon as I'm done with appointments we can arrange it to whichever works best. I've been doing the food funeral thing lately but now I'm stopping because I've gained about 5 very unwanted pounds in the last month!!! How's your pre op going? What did you have today????
