I'm sure it's been discussed before but I'm having a terrible time with acid. Lots of churning and gurgling in my stomach. When I eat it feels like the food is getting stuck and it doesn't matter if I take 2 bites or five it all comes back up. I can keep liquids down. Protein shakes make me sick to my stomach but I manage to keep them down. This has been getting worse over the last week and I have called the surgeon's office three times and no return call yet. Any ideas? Could this be a hernia. I take prevacid once a day as per doc and it does nothing. I'm 9 weeks post op

Where Is Everyone From?

Omaha, Nebraska -
Thanks. I went and talked to a pharmacist at Walgreens about over the counter acid meds. She was way more helpful than the doc. Got some Lansoprazole ( the same as prevacid i think) 15mg. She said to take it 30 min before I eat in addition to my prescribed daily dose. So I'll try that as well as a few days of full liquids. And hopefully I can get this under control So frustrated with my doctor made me feel completely dismissed. I'm glad the upper gi was fine but I feel like this appointment was a complete waste of time and money. I feel like I'm on my own. Oh and I asked him since I'm 9 weeks out should I see the nutritionist, he said no since I can't eat anyway. Really. Thank God for VST. Stats are good I think. I was 262 at my highest this summer, 256 before pre-op diet, 246 day of surgery and today 214.6. Honestly I feel like I should have lost more by now but I won't complain to much.

Help I do not know what to do. Had upper gi. Doc said there was no problem was maybe a little tight but nothing that was a problem. As for acid I asked can we increase the dose of pevacid or try a different medication.... he said no that won't make any difference and I can double up on the prevacid for awhile if I want. But wouldn't change the script. Said to do full liquids for a few days and try to work with it. I then asked when I should follow up about this and he said 2 months WTF....left the office bawling. Help please

I'm very crabby today.... anyway I just saw the doc and I am now waiting to have an upper gi. I'm hoping I can still get some answers today.

PA finally called back. I have an appointment tomorrow afternoon and hopefully this will get figured out and I will have some relief soon. Thanks for the support, I'm really isolated in my life right now as I closed my business for a while to concentrate on getting healthy and my husband is out of town two weeks every month and the kids are at school. So I'm alone most of the time....didn't realize what an impact feeling sick and being alone would have. Anyway I digress. Thanks again

Thanks lessofme I will try your suggestions. I'm in Nebraska my surgeon is Dr. Hovey who up until now has been fantastic. The PA is Dr. Robby and she gas been inconsistent at best. I had trouble with dehydration the first three weeks and my husband had the same issue getting phone calls returned unless it was after hours and Dr. Hovey is on call.
-
Just called again... this time I was told the PA is in surgery and the receptionist has no idea when she'll be able to call me back.
-
Thanks. Talked to receptionist an hour ago and told her the problem... said the PA would call right back. Hasn't happened yet.

You are simply amazing!!!! Thank you for the inspiration. I sooooo needed this today.

I understand that some people have had a terrible experience with this surgery. I read your story and truly feel for you. That said your attitude with people and the ugliness you spew at a simple question is uncalled for and despicable. Perhaps you need a new outlet for your rage. This is certainly not the place for it.

Why Proteins Are So Necessary After Surgery ?
tearee replied to indian's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
With the small size of my sleeved stomach it would be impossible to get all the protein I need without shakes. Especially at 4 weeks post op. -
