It is kind of depressing. I went to visit friends that I hadn't seen since the day after my surgery. Not one of the three said anything! I had lost 40 lbs! But remember, you are doing this for YOU, not them!

The first week is rough, no energy. After any type of surgery, you have to make yourself get up and get moving. Do you have any specific complaints?

I can't wait to walk from the parking lot up to the time clock without panting.

I walked in the corridors of the hospital the first evening after surgery. It's so important to help with the gas. The first week I was totally exhausted. I remember being in the grocery store, needing to go a couple of more places, and telling hubby that I just can't do it. I wanted to go home.

A&D is really thick, incision can't "breath". I put betadine on my incisions. If it stays red should talk to your doc.

the first day was pain and sleeping, second day was throwing up....then smooth sailing! you can do it!

what about diet Jell-o and pudding? I also ate yogurt, the fruit flavored, no small pieces of fruit though.

I had decided on the RNY and was in the admissions office at the hospital. The clerk told me that my insurance would only cover a certain amount and my difference would be double what I had planned, and they wouldn't say why. Hubby called his insurance provider, they had previously said that they would cover the difference, but upon hearing the amount they wanted a special meeting with me. During that meeting the head Doc told me that they had had 3 patients die, and was I sure about this. This hit me in the face.....I started thinking of my children, I want to see them get married, etc. I changed to the sleeve and had it one month later. I am so pleased with my decision. I'm six weeks out tomorrow, I've lost 40 pounds.

I was extremely weak the first 10-14 days after surgery. I had back pain before surgery.....after, my back felt great. I agree with the others though, you're probably compensating by using other muscles to protect your abdomen.

VNana I live in Lebanon and things are different here, to say the least. I guess the insurance doesn't pay the Dr enough so he takes cash in his hand before the surgery.
