Post-VSG meal amounts = Normal Servings

I think of this every morning when I eat my 1.5 cups of cottage cheese and still feel like I could down another cup. Can't wait until 1/2 cup is filling. I don't WANT to eat 1.5 cups of cottage cheese, It's not like it's a food I enjoy pigging out on...but that's what it takes right now to have any kind of satiety -

Want to order protein from online?
SerendipityHappens replied to Fair2bslimLady's topic in Food and Nutrition
Pretty please can you post a link for the 3 pound isopure for $35.00??? I can't find it but if I can get it for 35.00 (including shipping) I'll definitely switch from Puritain's pride. since their price even with the 10% of coupon is 35.99..and I'm all about saving the dollars!!! -
Seat size will vary based on what aircraft your flight is on. Go to seatguru.com and put in your flight number and airline and they will tell you exactly what kind of plane you will be flying on, show you a seat map, tell you how wide the seats are and how far is between you and the seat in front of you.

I'm apparently a crazy person... I wrote unjury, but I meant Isopure. My post is about ISOPURE.. it's very good. Unjury, I didn't care for. -

Isopure is very good. It blends well too so it's nice since you can just stir it in. I like to put the vanilla in my coffee! My FAVORITE Protein is JayRobb but it's also VERY expensive so I use unjury and Jay Robb both. The cheapest I've been able to find ISOPURE online is through Puritain's pride.. for $39.99 for 3 pounds. Here's a referral coupon good for 10% off your first order. I have been buying my Vitamins and spices through Puritain's Pride for years and I trust them as a company.. Here's the coupon if you're interested: https://puritan.sparkrefer.com/5z7lLq5 edited because I originally stated UNJURY when I meant ISOPURE. -
My job doesnt have weight loss coverage
SerendipityHappens replied to shakur154's topic in Insurance & Financing
Come check out the mexico section on this forum.. it's near the bottom. You'll be able to read a lot of first hand accounts and learn everything you ever wanted to know about getting VSG in Mexico. -
My job doesnt have weight loss coverage
SerendipityHappens replied to shakur154's topic in Insurance & Financing
No, if it's not in the policy then you can't fight it. Many employers opt for coverage that does not cover things like fertility treatments or weight loss surgery in order to save money. What about Mexico? -

YAY.. not more Roman's catalog for you!... GOD, I HATE that catalog and everything in it! When I was at my heaviest: 360 at 5'5", Most Lane Bryant 26/28 were too tight unless they were stretchy and I was petrified of a lifetime of the Roman's catalog and other places like that. I'm so happy for you! Lane Bryant's sizes seem a bit larger than they used to be.... maybe a 28 might fit you now? You never know!!!! Also Old Navy plus size online clothes are much nicer than I expected and they are rather generously cut. I'm 300 pounds and have one pair of old navy pants that are a size 22 (and I'm DEFINITELY NOT a 22!) Enjoy all your new clothing options! -
lucky girl! I'd totally wait until you're in maintainence and then treat yourself to a "mommy makeover" But that's just me!

Ya know the big fat flop of stomach that hangs down??? That's a pannus.. and a panniculectomy is having your big fat pannus chopped off surgically. Often the fat that's left in the bottom of the pannus can't be lost through diet and exercise because it is not attached to anything and is just hanging there like a rock in the bottom of a sock... so they just remove the left over fat and the skin.
-
Depending on the size of the panni, I know sometimes the surgeon will just cut the damn thing off while weight loss is still occurring in order to rid the patient of discomfort and facilitate better exercise and then to a full on TT later when the patient as maintained a stable weight.

Cost of post op diet?
SerendipityHappens replied to bringiton's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Do the wafers not work for you? Puritain's and vitacost both have calcium/d3 wafers that are much lower than the chews. I tried them and bought some for right after surgery when I can't take the calcium petities (which by the way are definitely NOT horsepills- they are about half the size of a pre-natal multivitamin) The wafers don't taste fabulous but for someone concerned about the cost of Vitamins this might be an option. -
Frustrated by the NUTs hard sells
SerendipityHappens replied to sheetmetalgirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
REALLY??? She told you that you would need to drink protein shakes for the rest of your life? I wouldn't be able to trust anything she said after that. Perhaps if you were getting duadenal switch, you MAY need protein supplements for the rest of your life due to malabsorption, but EVERY reputable program that I've researched recommends that after about a year, VSG patients should be getting all the recommended protein from foods. -

Milk Duds got the better of me!
SerendipityHappens replied to ISleevedIt's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm preop, but have been on a very strict diet for the past two months. I work in a convenience store and those foods call to me all damn day. I HAVE had a few moments when I cave and eat.. Two weeks ago I ate 1800 calories in 10 minutes. YIKES. BUT.. I counted all those calories wrote them down.. and went on to have a protein shake for dinner. Now the old me would have said.. oh, well the day's ruined now... I'll get pizza... And I would have really felt guilty for a long time.. The new me recognizes that this isn't about "perfection" It's about progress and I am progressing. -
Cost of post op diet?

I have been stocking up.. I found an acid blocker from walgreens for a good price and it's buy one get one half off. I got calcium citrate, Iron and sublingual b-12 from pilgrim's pride. I got the puritain's brand which are buy two get three free. Puritain's pride also had Isopure for 39.99 and I used a 10% off coupon so that is a really good deal. If you go with puritain's pride, here's a 10% off coupon https://puritan.sparkrefer.com/5z7lLq5 Also, vitacost has JayRobb Protein for a good price. GNC has buyone get one half off of their Protein powder and you can use your gold card so you wind up getting six pounds for $45.00.. but I don't like the taste so I pay more for what I like. Cost: Bariatric multi vitamin: $12.50 per month 1500 mg of calcium citrate $6.00 per month B-12 (3x a week) $1.04 per month Iron (good quality) $1.02 per month omeprazole (acid reducer) $9.07 per month Protein (isopure) 80 grams daily $72.00 per month (assuming this is your only protein source) Total cost for a month is $101. 63 Of course you'll eat more that just drinking liquid Protein but this should give you an idea... Now, there are people here who spend $50.00 a month on calcium supplements alone because they take the good tasting chews, but you don't HAVE to.. the quality isn't any better, it's just because it's a chewy candy instead of a pill. -
Calcium HELP- almost choked on it
SerendipityHappens replied to Misty_eyes's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am preop so I realize that post op, you might have a more difficult time with larger pills... but yes, I find citrical petites to be very easy to swallow. They are also coated so they don't really taste and they're not chalky. I actually take two citrical petites, 1 b-complex and 1 prenatal multivitimin all at once and nothing gets stuck. The multivitimin is about twice the size of the citrical. I just hope and pray that I will be able to get back to swallowing vitimins quickly following surgery. I can't STAND chewables. -
Pre-op Liquid Diet Blues
SerendipityHappens replied to LizTex2587's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
By day 4 you will be feeling less hungry. I've done a 30 day juice fast in the past just for the hell of it... and I've also done liquid diets in the past for weight loss. Personally, I find them easier to stick to than trying to eat 1500 calories a day. For me when I draw the line in the sand that tells me "YOU WILL NOT EAT. PERIOD" then it's easier for me than getting just a tease of food and then still feeling hungry and accounting for calories and realizing that it's 2pm and you've already used up all your calories for the day... I said it's easier for me... but it's still not EASY! Just embrace the experience and be proud of yourself for doing this! -

Mexico?
SerendipityHappens replied to SuchaPrettyFaceBUT's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Here in the Northeast USA, cost is no less than $20,000. There are places in the USA where you can get the surgery for around 10,000 (often as an out patient procedure) but nothing local for me and if I'm going to have to travel anyway then I may as well go to Mexico and save even more. For $4,500 I can go to Mexico and have an experienced competent surgeon, two nights hospital stay and then another two nights at the hotel to recover before flying home. -
coffee or no coffee?

My PW says to limit caffeinated coffee and black tea to 2 cups per day.
