6 weeks post op...what do you think?
DawnL replied to Kim Ster's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I work in a call center so I am on the phone and talking all day so I am constantly drinking. Usually not just water mostly unsweetened iced tea or crystal light. I try to concentrate on proteins sine I just went to full diet yesterday but don't think I'm going over 500-600 calories a day. -
6 weeks post op...what do you think?
DawnL replied to Kim Ster's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
So I am currently struggling. Went yesterday for follow up. Had my sleeve done on Halloween. At my 2 week I was down 15 pounds two weeks later another 4.5 which didn't thrill me but I was ok with it. Yesterday which was 3 weeks since my last weigh in I was only down 1/2 a pound!!! This is so not acceptable to me. I feel like this is like a repeat of all if the diets I have done for the last 30 years. I spent 4 weeks on clears post op, 2 weeks of purée and got the ok for regular food yesterday but it still takes me 2 1/2 hours to eat a 3.3oz Greek yogurt not hungry not cheating and not loosing. I am also struggling with not properly using the restroom. I don't know if that's why I'm not loosing but I'm only going like once every 7-10 days. I told my surgeons PA who said that it was ok to use an OTC laxative but I am afraid to rely on them and I have taken 4 dulco-lace since last night and still nothing. Could this be the reason for my stall? -
October Sleever - 2 Week Stall! Not Happy!
DawnL replied to pittmom's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
My doc sets a goal for your 2 week follow up at 15 lbs. fluids salt, your period could all affect it. Stick to your program and it will come off. I was sleeved on 10/31 and only get on the scale at the surgeons office at this point but when I look in the mirror I don't see changes. When I put on clothes I'm starting to see it. Doc's scales says 18.5 lbs now but it's bound to slow with the diet progression. -
Also, if you go to www.unjury.com their shakes are the best I've found and they also have a protein chicken soup that is tasty. Plus it has 21 proteins.

I agree. It seems the more conservative docs tend to have fewer complications. I was sleeved on Halloween and am super sad there will be turkey broth only and protein shakes this turkey day but next week I start puréed foods. My doc never goes to full liquids but clears and protein shakes for 4 weeks. I saw him last week and asked about even adding full liquids for the holiday. His response was that I had come so far why take a chance now at messing it up and having to go back into surgery and coming out with a feeding tube. So, it just another week (it's already been 5 since was on liquids 2 weeks pre-op)

I will be 3 weeks post op tomorrow and still have a week left of clear liquids. I understand what you mean. I would give anything to be able to eat real food (not hungry though) I think I just need to chew and taste something other than jello and protein shakes lol. My partner and I had the sleeve done the same day and we both have good/bad food days. Sometimes we just want to eat something with taste. Sometimes we just want to vent how bad it sucks to have such a restricted diet. (From what I've read most people aren't on clears this long but our dr has never had anyone with a leak) but that is starting to pass as we are in the home stretch knowing that this part is almost over. Take it a day at a time and you will do great.

Height, Weight, And Size Poll
DawnL replied to LeaveItToSleever's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am 5'3.5 when I started I was 243lbs in August 2012. Size 20-22 pants 1-2x tops Shoe 9W DOS 227 lbs. 10/31 2 week post op follow up visit 209 Dow 18.5 lbs!! I always thought I was really large framed but now not so sure. Now I can wear an XL-L top and 16-18 pants and they are baggy. Tried on my 24 year old daughters jeans the other day and they were big!!! And I didn't care she just had a baby a couple of weeks ago lol. I think I SEE the weight lost most in my feet. They are obviously thinking out and all my dress shoes won't stay on because they are all too wide. -
I started mid August and had mine done October 31st. But I have a cousin that started almost a year ago and isn't scheduled until dec 19. It depends on your insurance, how long it takes to get all of your requirements completed and your surgeon. Some want you to loose a certain amount of weight pre op. that part is up to you and how you stick to the protocol.

I start week 3 tomorrow. Sooooo no thanksgiving turkey for me. It's ok though. It was a family thing my "father in law" my partner and I all went through this together. He is 2 weeks ahead if us but we both had it done together on 10/31. As of last Friday we were both down 18.5 pounds in 2 weeks.
