A thread for Single Bandsters
Infaith replied to NewBeginnings2018's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Greyhounder-you ARE date-able at any weight. It's all a matter of confidence. I'm still over 200 pounds, but am pleased to announce I get quite a few approving looks from guys and loving every minute of it. Just dress to show off your curves girl, hold your head up high and go for it! -
Hello there! Anybody remember me? Been a very long time since I've logged onto LBT. Looks like my buddy Jack is still here. YAY! We were banded the same day when I got my first band. Lost it after waiting too long to call the doc when I caught a virus and threw up so much that my band slipped and it had to be removed. I still have my second one....1 1/2 years now. The weight is coming off slowly, but I'm very happy. I haven't been this close to 200 pounds in over 20 years! Plan to check in a bit now and then and hope everybody is doing well. Take care!

The dating sites asking about children...yes, the way they word it doesn't make sense and I know everybody reads it differently. Silly... -
A thread for Single Bandsters
Infaith replied to NewBeginnings2018's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi there! I'm new to this thread (not to LBT). Just found it and WOW...lots of communication here.:bounce: I've been single for 8 years now and am just starting to really date. As with so many of us, I wasn't being asked out and a lot of it was my own doing. I was depressed, never looked anybody in the eye and had no confidence what so ever. I've been on the dating sites (eHarmony, Plenty of Fish, and Match), but I swear I attract the biggest jerks. The last 3 months have been a total rollercoaster ride so for now I've deleted or hid my profiles because I just don't want to deal with it. It's been so long since I've really been social that at my age and after being married for almost 19 years I feel really inept. Adult dating...it's a whole new ballgame. I've read and know all the basic stuff-places to go and to find something you enjoy doing (my case...motorcycles is way up there). What do you do or where do you go to meet people? -
Any one go Mexico for Lap Band?
Infaith replied to lookelou's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got banded, unbanded and rebanded in Mexico with Dr. Ortiz. He's a wonderful surgeon and my scars are pretty much non-existent. BUT you need to make sure you have medical attention here too. I didn't the first time and I'm sorry I didn't. The second time I contacted a doc and talked with him about it BEFORE I got my 2nd band. He likes Dr. Ortiz and agreed to be my doctor here. Not all doctors in the states will take you if you go to Mexico. Dr. Ortiz and his staff were a very good experience. Very different from here, but it was good. Do your research and good luck to you. -
Actually I'm in Eugene. How about you? Also, where are you in your journey?

WHOOWHEE! So happy to have found this thread and fellow banded bikers! Had my 2006 Suzuki Boulevard C50 a little over a year now and put almost 10,000 miles on it including the ride to Sturgis. Ahhhhh....riding....my absolute favorite activity.:whoo::whoo::whoo:
-
whosyadaddy...my sister has a M50 too! Nice bike.
-
Note to newimage...for me, my bike has helped my confidence and self-esteem considerably. It's an amazing feeling.

Congratulations on taking the class for riding! I didn't wait until I was closer to goal. I took the basic motorcycle riding class with my sister in September 2006. That was about 50 pounds ago. Choosing a first bike is so individual. I bought a 2006 Suzuki Boulevard C-50 (805 cc). It looks huge, but is low, well centered and I love it dearly. I have put on almost 10,000 miles on it this year....counting the Sturgis trip. Good luck and enjoy!

Wow...lots of tattoos! I have a fairly large one on my upper back. It's the outline of a dove with parts of John 3:16 written inside it. I got it last year...was thinking about a new one this year, but haven't decided yet. Very cool everybody!

Hey everybody- Does anybody here have a tattoo and then lost a lot of weight? How did that affect the look of your tattoo? I'm considering getting a medium sized tattoo on my left shoulder blade and am concerned about whether I should wait until next year when I should be a whole lot smaller. I know the shoulder blade is pretty stable, but wanted to see what others have experienced. I'm hoping to lose between 80-100 pounds and I carry the majority of it in my bottom half. Help anybody?
-
Okay folks....I got my first tattoo. It took 1 hour, 45 minutes. The hardest part when when she was having to go back over places that had been worked on with color. But all in all it wasn't bad and I'm thrilled with the results. Here is a picture my sister took 3 hours after having it done. Keep in mind the lavendar and blue colors will look better when my skin is calmed down.
-
Missy.....go for it. I'm a year older than you and this is my first tattoo.

WHOOWHEE! I'm getting my tat on tomorrow on Saturday! I can't wait. My biopsy for the mole on my shoulder just said that it was A-typical so they want to totally remove it. I was so bummed thinking I would have to wait for my tat since it was in the same area. After much deliberation, with the help of my sister, I decided to change the placement. Instead of on my shoulder (originally wanted it on my left shoulder, but both my shoulders have several regular types of moles on them), I decided to have my dove put in the middle of my back up high starting about my neck. That way I can wear more things to show it off if I wish. On my shoulder I would have to be wearing a halter top or tube top (probably not a lot unless I got my boobs lifted) to show the whole tat. After I get it done, I'll try to post a picture of it, ok? Thanks for all your help on here!

I understand that the material in the band will not wear out. I believe it's more of how long or whether your body will accept a foreign object in it. Eric-I'm so glad to hear you've not had any problems after 5 years. That gives me hope. Thanks.

Does your band tighten after exercise?
Infaith replied to kim2bhealthy's topic in Fitness & Exercise
LOL....goes to show you how fickle our bands can be! This is my second band (lost the first one to slippage after a bad stomach virus). With the first band I had no trouble eating salad and chicken. With this one it's a struggle. -
Does your band tighten after exercise?
Infaith replied to kim2bhealthy's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Kim, Between my sister and I we have decided that lapbands are very fickle. Although I'm sure most docs will not agree, we are positive that emotions, altitudes (my sister is a flight attendant), periods and a number of other reasons that our bands would tighten up. I used to work 12 hour night shifts and then on my 3-4 days off I would try to sleep like a normal person. A naturapathic doctor told me that would confuse my body and affect my band also. So in my opinion it's very possible that exercise could possibly do the same thing. Take care and good luck. WTG on the exercise program! -
This is so great! I love hearing about and seeing your tattoos. Makes me even more anxious to get mine!

YEAH Big Girl! You go! **Soon to be tattooed Motorcycle: 2006 Suzuki C50 Boulevard (800 cc)
