Jack is also just a GREAT person to be acquainted with!

Oh Michelle, I know exactly how you feel. At first when I lost my band, I definitely felt like it was still there and did okay for awhile. Then all of a sudden it seemed like BAM, it wasn't there and I couldnt' stop eating. Unfortunately I couldn't get mine under control and have gained all but 11 pounds of the 55 I lost. BUT YOU CAN DO THIS! We are here for you. Take care.

I know, I know, I got myself all psyched up and made my appointment to get rebanded January 19th. Now I am having SERIOUS thoughts about cancelling it. Between the problems I had last summer, then my sister got in trouble recently but thankfully it was corrected with an unfill by Dr. Martinez. Then all the erosions being reported here on LBT... I know the band is a wonderful tool, but I'm wondering if I'm just too emotional (plus the fact that I'm at the change of life age). Both my sister and I struggled with eating when we would get tired, stressed or emotional at all and our band would basically put a tourniquet on our stomaches. I also am afraid of going more into debt. I'm still paying off my first banding and my band removal. So for the month of December I'm leaving my appointment with Dr. Ortiz, but am trying to lose on my own (yes even at holiday season) and will make my final decision at the end of this month. Thanks for listening!

Thanks Pat, Sorry to say that I've gained a LOT of my weight back since losing my band. Struggling a lot with myself. At this point, I don't have the funds or the time to take off from work to get rebanded even if I was ready mentally and emotionally. Jack, let me get back to you on possible dates and times, okay? I would have to do it during the last 1/2 of the week otherwise I'm sleeping during the day. When works for you? Also trying to work around physical therapy for my shoulder and such. Hey Teresa, are you around?

Hey Jack! I don't know of any more good soup places, but I did play around with a Beer Cheese soup recipe here at home and it came out pretty good! Maybe I should just have you guys over to my place sometime??? Teresa's friend Tracey lives not far from me either.

ebnewf-so you band slipped, they did surgery and removed one and replaced it immediately? Interesting. My slipped badly (from a stomach flu virus causing me to vomit violently for days) and mine was removed and was told I couldn't have a replacement put in for approximately 6 months. Maybe because mine original was strangling my stomach? I was told I needed to heal before rebanding. Haven't been rebanded yet and don't know if or when. No money, no time from work to take off since I've taken all mine for a rotator cuff tear and just plain not sure what to do at this point. Hope everything goes well for you and for Tuff Enuf!

So proud of you Michelle! I know you have worked so hard for this. Congratulations! Wish I could say the same for myself. -
Think my decision is being made for me. I was just diagnosed with a rotator cuff tear in my left shoulder and I have to see an orthopedic doc in 2 weeks (hopefully will get in on a cancellation) Ended up leaving work a couple hours after I got there tonight. I'm checking into using my short term disability 'cause work seems to aggreivate it. Of course this will take any leave I have plus any extra money or overtime so I definitely cannot afford the rebanding plus by that time I will probably be mending from surgery on my shoulder! ARGH! Oh well....at least the decision is a no brainer at this point. Thanks for your support and input!

On my knees praying for you my friend. Welcome to the slipped band club. Although I'm glad to hear there is a possibility yours might be righted and 7 days is a small price to pay dear. I would have gladly done that if I could have gotten liquids down when mine slipped. Keep us posted, okay? We care.

Michelle, My reaction to seeing "I'm eroded" and your screen name on it was "NOOOOOOOO!!!" I couldn't believe it! I also have to admit it makes me question getting rebanded in January. What if it slips again? Or erodes? Am I kidding myself? You have been and continue to be an inspiration to us all. You've accomplished (yes YOU...not the band, but YOU) what we all dream about. Awesome job Michelle. I agree that when (not if) you maintain your weight for the 6 months, there should be no reason to be rebanded. You can do this. Take care. Will be thinking of you on your surgery date.

My little furball is Angel, an 18 month miniature (she's about 10 pounds) smooth haired dachshund. Contrary to what I've read and what people have told me (about doxies being so stubborn and hard to train), she is very well behaved and is wonderful therapy. I got her when she was 2 months old...just before both my sons were heading off to college and I was going to be alone for the first time in my life. I've attached a picture of Angel (the black and tan one in front) and her sometimes stay over buddy (my sister's red doxie/chihuaha mix) Dot.com or Dottie.

I'm with LadySplenda on this one. When my ex walked out 6 years ago, he took a whole lot of bad vibes out of this house that were affecting not only me, but our 2 boys (then 14 & 16). Now he's HER problem and from what I hear, he's not gotten any better with age. You take care Lisa Marie. We are here for you!

PBing on everything! Please read this!

Please, follow your doctors orders and DO NOT be hesitant about a bit of an unfill. Yes, restriction can definitely kick in later and for who knows what reason. Pat is right....an overfill is worse than not enough restriction. Overfill can lead to serious problems if not taken care of. Take care. -
Wow Lisa, I was just thinking as I scanned the new threads..."wonder how Lisa is and if we would hear from you this weekend?" So it was very cool to see you are thinking of us too! Glad Slumber Parties is going so well (probably need a little down time before "love day" gets here). Aren't families just grand? (oh yeah...) Anyway...just trying to gear up for my rebanding in January and really hoping to meet you at Vegas Blast 2006!

How common is band problems?????????
Infaith replied to ladysplenda's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My slipped band was due primarily to a nasty stomach virus I caught that had me throwing up violently. I knew it wasn't "just my band being too tight" as my aunt had the same virus, same throwing up, same dehydration and she isn't banded! I am being rebanded in January and that's one thing I'm going to check with my doctor on, is what do we do when we get sick with something like this? I mean the virus hit me fast and hard. I was fine one day and that night I couldn't stop the vomiting and feeling like absolute crud. After I vomited the first time, I thought..."oh, I ate too fast or something...stick to liquids for at least a day and maybe longer", but I couldn't even keep liquids down and I had been fine earlier with eating and drinking and had even had quite a large unfill about 3 weeks before. You just don't know. But it's not scaring me out of getting rebanded, no siree! -
Dear sweet Jonathan....of course you can come home. Never doubt it for a second. Of course if accountability is what you want, we can do some butt kicking too! As Alexandra said, the band is there and waiting for you to access and use. And yes, you are being too hard on yourself. You've had one hell of a year. Now it's time to reset your priorities and start fresh and we are always here for you. NOW GET TO IT GUY! (lovingly giving you the boot)

Fill Doctors in Oregon for Surgeries done in Mexico
Infaith replied to mulkeyt's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Not sure what to tell you on this one. There was a doc in Portland, but he lost his liability insurance to tend to us MX bandsters. I previously went to Dr. Kelly Fitzpatrick in Portland (think she's here in Eugene now). She's a natraupathic doctor so she doesn't use flouro. Not sure of any others. I'm getting rebanded in January, but will need to go back to MX when I go for my fills because of my slippage and removal last summer. Slippage was from a horrible flu virus that had me violently throwing up for days and I had to make a flying trip to MX to have my wonderful doctor take care of me during his vacation! -
Maggie, you've answered your own question. Personally-my sister (who started off smaller than me in the first place)got her lapband (meanwhile I'm swearing I wouldn't do it...just too scared). Then watching her success for 6 months I knew I had to get past my fears. Like you-not fear of the surgery, and knowing it's what I need to do but I was...and still am to a certain extent...afraid of the change. It's been so long since I've been a normal size. I've been divorced for 6 years and have been hiding in my fat shell that cushions me from the outside world. I had people ask me if I was scared, but by the time I got to MX I was so excited about the journey I was about to start that I could hardly wait! To prove it....I'm getting rebanded in January after having it removed in July due to slipping after a horrible stomach flu virus that had me violently throwing up for days. I miss my band. I miss the control it gave me and I miss the hopeful feeling I had for success. You can do this Maggie. We are here for you every step of the way. Make the call, appointment, whatever, as long as you're sure this is what you want to do. It will make you feel so much better to get the ball rolling. Take care.

I got so excited when I read it being a small dachshund until the eyes appeared on the picture. EEWWWWW! Just way too creepie. Hey Nancy, you're a dachshund owner too? Give me some details. I love my little doxie Angel who is 18 months old, miniature (10 pounds) black/rust colored. I'd had her since she was 2 months old and just love her and spoil her so much!

My score was 40. 31 TO 40 POINTS: Others see you as sensible, cautious, careful & practical. They see you as clever, gifted, or talented, but modest. Not a person who makes friends too quickly or easily, but someone who's extremely loyal to friends you do make and who expect the same loyalty in return. Those who really get to know you realize it takes a lot to shake your trust In your friends, but equally that it takes you a long time to get over if that trust is ever broken.

Hey Lisa, I didn't get to see the whole segment, but the show was on (I was getting ready for an appt.) and saw they included Slumber Parties and I thought of you! How fun! I can't wait for the next Vegas Bash and I will be rebanded by then.

Ryan...first of all, it's GREAT to hear from you again. You have been missed. Second, thank you for very wise words. I know that personally I have a tendancy to "go through the motions of life" and forget to LIVE. Hmmmm.....maybe a motorcycle is in my future? (not the first time I've considered it) Take care.

Hello all, After a lot of thought, discussion and supportive words from friends (special thanks to my 12/21 posse buddy) I made the phone call and have an appointment for rebanding January 19th! Now the goal is to make sure I'm as healthy as possible for surgery. At first I was panicked thinking, "I need to get my weight back down to where I was when I lost my band", but I know darn good and well that if I feed into that panic I will gain weight instead of losing it. :cry So....I have about 2 1/2 months (of course during holiday season....sheesh!) but taking little steps (literally). I got my water bottle at work that I'm drinking on my breaks (can't have it in the class I cleanroom fab I work in) and was able to get 2 liters down fairly easily last night. Also found a hiding place at work (people love to sit down and talk to you while you're reading....argh) on the 6th floor so I am taking the stairs from the 3rd floor at each of my breaks. I'm trying....
