    SCARED OUT OF MY MIND!

My surgery was Nov. 13. I'm 4 months out and down 60 pounds. It's been the best thing I've ever done. It is a life change as far as eating goes. I've had some struggles but have never regretted having it done. It takes patience. Let us know how things go.
  2. Very encouraging. I'm almost at 4 months and down almost 50 pounds. The last several weeks have been at stand still. I have a hard time getting my protein and water in. This has encouraged me to really work at it. I also have a hard time with sweets (ie, chocolate, carbs) they do not seem to bother me. I need to work on leaving them alone. I was hoping they wouldn't sound good to me after surgery but's one thing I can tolerate pretty well...to my surprise. There are a lot of things I can't. Thanks for sharing your progress.
  3. I had surgery 11/13. Since then I've lost 40 pounds...pre-op diet and soon after. I exercise 3 days a week with weight training and walk daily. I eat around 800-900 calories a day and get most of my protein in and drink all my water. What can I do? I'm feeling nervous that this is it. I thought I would be losing more by now. Any helpful suggestions would be welcome. Thanks.

    Diabetes

I had surgery 11/13/12 and was on metformin and byetta. Am off everything now! This was the main reason I had surgery. My sugar was becoming harder to control and I already had heart disease. So thankful for this tool to help me.

    Frustrated!

I am almost 2 months out after surgery. I have lost almost 40 pounds but have been in a stall for over 2 weeks and I can relate that it is very discouraging. I really appreciate the advice given. Slow and steady....sometimes I want to get rid of the scale. I know that I eat so much less than before surgery. And I exercise often. So...I'm working on being patient. I know it will come off just not as soon as I hoped.

    2 Week Post Op Woohoo!

I'm at the two week mark tomorrow. My doc appt. is not until Friday. Today a nurse called and said I could start soft foods. So excited. Had cottage cheese and cream of mushroom soup. So much tastier than the liquid proteins I've had to eat the past 4 weeks. Also looking forward to yogurt and oatmeal. I hope to be able to eat the things on your list after I meet with my Nut. on Friday. I'm not hungry but just looking forward to more variety.

    Starting To Really Freak Out.

I had my surgery on Nov. 14 and had to go through the 6 month medical portion to meet insurance requirements. I was nervous as well...but must say I have been doing very well. No complications except the normal soreness and being tired. I am diabetic and have heart disease. My sugar levels have been awesome. It's a journey...not always easy, it's almost like I mourned food. But I believe well worth it to have a healthier life. Hang in there during your pre op diet. It's very important. Best wishes to you.
  8. I'm almost done with my two week liquid diet. I see my doc. next Friday and am wondering what kinds of foods I can eat during the soft food stage. Also...will I ever eat normal again?
  9. Thanks for the advice. I'm working on being patient. Good luck to you.
  10. Maybe I should clarify normal and say foods like fruit, vegies, bread, etc. Not junk food.

    Time Off Work.

My surgery was on Tues. the 13. I was only going to take the 4 days plus the weekend. I found even though I felt pretty good-I was weak. So I ended up taking the 2nd week off.
  12. It has been one week since my surgery. Everything is going well. The hard part for me is wanting to eat normal food. I realize I can't eat much but the liquids and taste of the protein is hard for me. I'm feeling very well and excited about what the future holds.
