Let's Check In November 2012 Sleevers!

I'm 4"11- was a size 22 pre surgery. I weighed 248 surgery day BMI of 55ish. I'm now 148.8. My weight loss has slowed, but I am only 15-20lbs from my goal. I initially thought I would be in a 10/12 at my goal weight, but I am currently wearing an 8/10 solidly- even in fancy designer dresses. Don't sell yourself short and know your sleeve can help you get wherever you want to go. That being said- I am having to consciously think about what I am eating and what I need to eat now to lose this last little bit, but- I know I can do it.

I Want To See Before & After Pics!
ashelaine replied to Christina760's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I realized that my before picture was taken before my daughter's "meet the teacher" event last year. Her meet the teacher event was yesterday- here is a side by side of August 21, 2012 to August 22, 2013! I'm 9 months-ish out (11/13/12)- 99lbs down as of this morning. 15 more to go. -
I love these stupid things! My husband keeps them in the freezer for if he gets cramps- they help a lot. And I love pickles and pickle juice- so I sneak one every now and then!

I was allowed coffee with clear liquids. My name is Ashley- and I am a caffeine addict. Yep- I said it. I've transferred my prior dr pepper addiction to now I drink coffee in the morning and I have tea some during the day.

Band to Sleeve in TEXAS? Doc referrals DfW area or Denton?
ashelaine replied to Poorehouse's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
If you want a doctor that has done a lot of revisions- Dr. Barker would be high on the list in DFW. He's a HUGE Practice, but he's a good guy and a dang good surgeon. Dr. hodges who works with him actually took out my gallbladder in 07 before she was working with Dr. Barker and she was AMAZING! -
Yay for a stall. AGAIN. 151.4 so actually up .2. Oh well. I will get there!

I'm not a dr and I've never played one on TV- but other than bruising (I didn't have any)- it looks very similar to how my incisions looked about the same time post surgery
-
I have been on it twice in 9 months for eczema. It has put me in a stall that has lasted 2 weeks past the last day of the pills each time. But- I have continued to lose weight after coming off.

5 months post op, -83 lbs & I'm gonna be a mom!
ashelaine replied to TexasMiss's topic in The Gals' Room
You are definitely not nuts! I'm so happy for you! I'm an only child- but grew up with my moms best friends kids being my "siblings"- she has a bio daughter that is 5 years older than me, then they adopted a little boy (who is now a man lol) from Russia and then adopted a sibling group of four from here. My mom and her BFF joke that they never realized they'd go from 2 to 7 kids. I love each of them dearly! -

Handful of vitamins and coffee for breakfast?
ashelaine replied to soocalchic's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Ok- I have to know how the coconut is. I saw it on a commerical and I haven't ventured to DD yet! But yes, coffee and vitamins is my daily routine. -
I take prenatals (prescription from my ob- they have more iron and I am chronically low on iron and have been for as long as I can remember- well before surgery), caltrate petites- 2/day, biotin- 5000mcg twice a day, b12 sublingual and 5000iu of vit D.

Better than little black dress!
ashelaine replied to soocalchic's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Now I'm jealous! I will be getting a lift with implants once we decide for sure if another kid is in the cards. I've gone from a 40H to 36G.but I know I will lose A LOT with my lift- breast feeding 2 kids for a year is hell on the girls. -
My teeth are genetically horrible- both my parents have crap teeth, and now my 3 1/2 year old has gotten the crap teeth gene. I finally talked to the kids dentist and she gave me the name of a good sedation dentist- I too have MAJOR dental phobia which is funny considering I have gone to the same dentist since I was 6- my good friends dad, but he did finally retire this year. I have one tooth that will need a crown and maybe a root canal. We shall see. But yes- I'm working on my teeth now.

When was it comfortable to sleep on your side/stomach again?
ashelaine replied to supbanana's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I propped a blanket under my belly and that seemed to help with any feelings of pulling etc etc on my side- that was day 5. By day 8 I was ok without the support. -

ashelaine replied to soocalchic's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've managed to keep mine somehow, too. Thank goodness. I think it's just luck of the draw and genetics- I come from a long line of very large breasted women with wide hips. It doesn't matter in my family is you're a size 2 or 22, we all have those two things. -

Who lost weight NO Carbs and who lost weight with out cutting out a ton of carbs?
ashelaine replied to joliem6201's topic in Food and Nutrition
I too am hypoglycemic- I have to have carbs. I try to make conscious decisions when it comes to eating, but I am by no means keeping my carbs super low. I've lost 95lbs in 9 months. I'm doing alright for myself I'd say. I've got 14lbs to the dr's goal and 19 to mine. I'm happy to be where I am. It's worked for me and I'm of the belief that what works for one does not work for everyone. See how it works for you. -

Can you share your good and easy to make meal favorites?
ashelaine replied to goodlady's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Chicken salad, tuna salad, salmon (they have patties at trader joes or Costco and frozen filets by Gordon's are yummy)- broil them with lemon pepper, teriyaki sauce, herb butter etc and you can have one meat a million ways, chili with cheese and Greek yogurt (instead of sour cream), Atkins meals, lunch meat and cheese in 1/4 of a pita, hummus, sautéed chicken, baked chicken, I do a lot of Mexican shredded chicken and then I can make a taco, or enchilada out of it or make a quesadilla out of a flat out wrap. -
I'm a stay at home mom of 3- (3,6,9)- I volunteer extensively (I'm the PTA president- I guess that makes me "that mom"). I also work semi-ish part time for my best friend's parent's company- I do their accounting (I was an accountant in a previous life).
