I met with dr. Davidson. I really really liked him. However I found out I was pregnant after my first consult and he was not covered by my insurance once that changed. I would go with him- but I am partial. I'm pretty anti- Charlton. I've had numerous issues with them over the years with my family. -
Any November 14Th Sleevers?
ashelaine replied to veronica84's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I like Med City- my mom was there for 6ish weeks in 2011. They were fantastic to her. I had my surgery at Doctor's Hospital in 11/13. I'm so glad you are doing better now. I hope things keep improving for you! -

Holly- I'm so so very sorry to hear about all of your complications . I'm very glad that your heart condition is better and that you have lost the weight. I think I saw on another thread you had your surgery done in Dallas? Are you from DFW? -

Where Is Everyone From?
ashelaine replied to SleeveShelly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Nah- not at all. I'm in Aggie land a lot! I come from a long line of Aggies, but I went to UT. Hook em! Now that you guys are SEC I can actually root for you and not feel terrible (and honestly I would have gone there, but I got a sweet scholarship to UT). -
Has anyone have moments where they just gag!
ashelaine replied to blkdiamond377's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I freaked last month and thought I was pregnant (my period was 1 day 'late') because of of crazy my sense of smell is. I have an IUD- so I knew it was highly unlikely- but that is how high the smell to gag ratio was. It has mellowed some this month, but every now and then something will catch me off guard. I have a super stronger stomach, but man oh man apparently not much anymore. The very smell of protein powder is enough to make me dry heave. -

November 2012 sleevers how are you doing ?

I'm down 57lbs. In the last few weeks I have worn every size from a 12-18. I have wide hips and a more narrow waist. I couldn't get on a pair of 16w seven jeans, but I was able to get a pair of regular 16's on no problem- two pairs actually- they just gapped in the waist . It all depends on brand and cut more importantly. I'm 4'11 and 191 for comparison- and I've had two kiddos also . I think they really did me in- my pooch isn't budging (I can blame kid 2 for that one- it was all the boys fault). Maybe one day!

feeling hope slipping away

I do not have RA, but I do have a few issues that require steroids to control them as well as take ibuprofen often (mostly daily). I also had GERD pre- surgery and I have not had a single issue post sleeve. My surgeon is not anti-NSAID. His teams view the risk is so slight of complications (ulcers) the benefits outweigh the risks by far (especially in my case). My mom and good friend suffer from arthritis and RA respectively- they have had great relief with a lotion from a company called two old goats. It has seriously helped them a lot. My mom ran out yesterday and called me this morning saying how bad her shoulder hurt and then called this afternoon to say she was feeling much better once she got more of her lotion . -

Difficulty consuming food/calories-suggestions? 2.5 months p/o
ashelaine replied to partofme!'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I never really have to lay down- but that sounds about like me on a daily basis. My doc has ok'ed 50g of protein- his only suggestion was buy some liquid egg whites from egg whites int and add them to everything. However- he said my intake is fine. My normal day is: breakfast-(one of these)- boiled egg, turkey sausage, regular sausage, beef Jerky snack- beef jerky or cheese lunch- salmon burger (I eat 1/3 of a patty), chicken parmesean pops, lunch meat and cheese, chicken salad made with canned chicken, 1 tsp mayo, and a few grapes, tuna made the same way sans grapes, i had a salad with left over shredded chicken the other day or I will have left overs from dinner dinner: whatever I make for the fam, the other night it was chicken marsala, tonight it's roast I made in the crockpot. I sometimes can only get in 1.5 oz. of protein. I generally wind up with my calories around 550-650 for the day. Which is all ok'ed by my doctor. I'm 3 months post op. -
Challenge: Spring 2013 goal! Way in on the first day of spring
ashelaine replied to foxymomma's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I lost 5.2lbs this week (we are re-flooring the whole house before we put it on the market and apparently doing manual labor 8 hours a day really kicks up the weightloss). I have 11.8 lbs to goal for spring and 5 weeks to get there!
