If you think you can do it on your own maybe you should have another go on your own? I know for me, after decades of dieting I knew I couldn't do it on my own. I'd lost all optimism in weight loss.

% of excess weight lost
*Dean* replied to SleeveNZ's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey - I'm 8 weeks as well. I've lost 47%. I'm not taking any notice of that 60 - 70%. It's only an average! -
That would be great. I work at Boondall, but have to go into DPP tomorrow and drop something off. I don't think I have anything on. Will check my diary in the morning. I'll PM you my mobile. Deano

Thanks Elle - that's awesome information. I've had a look at all those web sites. I think I'm leaning toward to Vitamix. I'm in negotiation with the Minister for Finance. At the moment it's looking like the end of January after school fees are paid Thanks again, Deano

Sad but true. WLS is like some other things in life, it can bring out the best and the worst in people.

Keep your chin up. It is only temporary. Keep your eye on the prize and remember why you're doing this! Deano -

Hey Kelli. I've seen a dietician twice. Once pre surgery and then two weeks post. I'm 8 weeks post op today (26kgs down, yeah!) And I'm due to see her at the 3 month mark, but I think I might try and get in earlier. Thanks for all the advice - a big help. Have a great day, Deano

That's excellent! Congratulations

Maybe I need to be not so protein focused and have some grainy carbs. It's bizzare not craving carbs. Because there's not interest in carbs anymore I just don't think to eat them!

Thanks Kate - I seem to recall my Dietician mentioning Benefibre as the way to go, I think.

Cookie do you use the capsules and have to had any probs? Yeah the Vitamix will blitz anything you put in them, whole apples etc. I like the idea of them because the fruit and vegetables retain all the fibre and nutrients. They 'say' more nutrients because the machine blitzes seeds skin etc that may normally partially pass through the digestive track. About 6 months ago, on a liver cleansing health kick, I bought an expensive cold press juicer, designed to retain enzymes etc blah blah. But no fibre. Might have to sell that one on flea-bay first.

Hey, do you guys do any fibre supplementation? I haven't been as regular as pre surgery, which isn't surprising my diet at the moment is really high Protein. I should eat more vegetables but I can't seem to fit it in. The last two days I've taken a single 2/3 dose of Metamucil mid morning. I was worried about a full dose exceeding the size of my stomach. I've also been thinking about getting a Vitamix. What do you guys do? Deano

That shift is worse than mine!! ............ although not to late to go out and do some catch up drinking with some friends. How many tequila shots can a sleeve handle??

Lila, I think getting past the halfway mark is an awesome awesome milestone. The fact that you've lost more than is left to lose, must feel really empowering.

Writing down goals, negative self talk - we all self fulfil our own prophecies without even knowing it! Thanks for the appreciation. I had Christmas off, which is my preference, so I can't complain. Amanda and I went to the tennis a lot before kids. It's a great day out. Have fun.
