    Cheeseburgers?

Yeah I guess. Maybe the ones you make But how much fat is in a commercial burger pattie and the processed cheese, how much protein is in a commercial processed cheese slice? - blah I'm sure you could knock up a healthy version - with real cheese!

    Horror Story

Everybodies opinions are subjective. I love VSG - because it seems like I'm getting a great outcome. The OP hates it with a passion. I can understand why she does, and so would I if I'd walked in her shoes. I'm happy for anyone to post their subjective opinion on VST - I do it every day! As for the verasity of the story. Who knows? But how about giving someone the benefit of the doubt, you may just have verbally slayed someone who has had a rough experience. And everybody reading between the lines of the original post - I am a Detective (not a virtual one ) and there's nothing, NOTHING, in the original post that would tell you weather it's fact or fiction. So have a heart! Deano
  7. Yeah, after 3 weeks I felt like the king of the world - so it's definately your infection. Look after yourself!
  8. Since he's so adverse to the internet couldn't you say - I have a friend who lives in (insert state here) and they had theirs done in one proceedure? He does sound prickly

    Over Disclosure

Don't be anxious - you will get results relatively quickly. Good luck on Tuesday.
  10. Some of you probably know I'm a massive advocate for transparency of this procedure with the people in our lives, family, friends, work mates. I've noticed I've been doing something recently and I think I might change it up, just a little. In my need to be transparent I think I over disclose. When people say to me things like 'You've lost weight, you look great' after thanking them one of the first things that comes out of my mouth is that I've had WLS. I guess the reason for my post is to clarify my thoughts. I've put in a lot of work to lose this weight. It's not all about the WLS. I've been managing my diet, exercising most days. WLS is part of the story. My policy now is if I get a compliment just thank them. If they ask how I've done it tell them eating less, exercising more and WLS. Cheers, Deano

    Over Disclosure

Thanks Dee. I think it's the opposite to subconscious, I consciously made the decision to be completely upfront about it. I think VSG is a great thing and I think it's a great thing I've done. I think others can benefit from my enthusiasm about it! I've just got a bit carried away and need to wind it back a bit Good luck with the surgery - you won't know yourself in two months
  12. Same here. When people ask what everyone's reaction has been like I say "Supportive, but I don't really care - when I tell people they're either going to support me or say something stupid". I've never once felt 'judged'. Some people have not commented, but they're entitled to their opinion. I'm proud of the fact that after decades of yoyo dieting I'm tackling this head on.
  13. Way to go. That's terrific.

    Thinner

Thanks. You will eat steak again. I have, but the same thing just small amounts. I'm an Aussie, so I've had my fill of plate sized rumps and T-bones with all the trimmings. 2 nights ago I grilled up a piece of beef fillet to medium rare. A 300 gram piece sliced up to feed the whole family. It went down really well.

    Thinner

Mate, I'm 10 weeks out yesterday and 60+ pounds down. It does get easier, quite quickly. Pork loin was probably a bit ambitious at this stage. At bit early for any dense Protein. At the stage I'm at I feel like I can eat anything I want, just in really small amounts. The amount varies depending on the food. From here the amount I can eat will slowly increase.

    Still on the fence....

I think the irreversibility of a sleeve is one of the advantages. I know I can lose weight, keeping it off is impossible. I need this tool for life. Deano
  17. Great to hear it was all done at once. Once you're out and home, you won't know yourself in a couple of days. All the best, Deano

    When can I exercise !

Now! You should be doing plenty of walking, without overdoing it. No heavy lifting for 6 weeks - so no deadlifts at the gym
  19. 10 weeks post op today. Jump onto the scales, Wednesday is my official weigh day. I'm down 30 kilos. Really happy with today as a mile stone. 8 more kilos and I'll be under 100. I think the last time I was under 100 was at the Police Academy! Hope you're all well, Deano
  20. My surgeon gave me a prescription in case I needed. Post op I had it made up, just in case. I'm 10 weeks post op today and haven't needed them. They're still sitting in the cupboard. Don't sweat it.

    FYI Insomnia Low Carb

Hey Teri, Sounds like a nightmare (sorry, bad joke!) You said that people with thyroid issues shouldn't take anything with melatonin. What's the possible negative effect if you do? I guess the reason I'm asking is because at the 6 month mark you will be able to eat a lot more and get the variety in your diet that it sounds like you need for sleep. Is it possible to take one of the suggested sleeping tablets for a short time? Good luck with it, Deano
  22. I don't think so. As long as you're getting enough protein. There's some thoughts that if you keep protein level's high it helps with burning fat instead of muscle. Helps reduce hair loss as well I believe. Deano
