Mate there's hard and then there's setting people up to fail. I admire your commitment. You will rock your sleeve!
  2. Robin, I know where you're coming from. My wife works in the food industry as a coffee roaster and I guess we consider ourselves foodies. We spend money on quality ingredients, we love cooking, and I still enjoy eating and talking about food. The eating bits are in smaller amounts! I know what you mean about left overs. It's a bit different in Australia as well. We have very strange food hygiene laws (over the top) which means lots of places won't give you a to go box or let you take it away. I used to eat 3 or more courses when I'd eat out. I've had more than my fill of 12 course de gustation. Now I'll order the main I feel like eating (I think we call your entree a main course) and I'll just leave what I don't want. I don't like waste either, especially money. But the reality is we're saving a fortune (I used to eat for 2 men) and I refuse to not live a life! Cheers, Deano

I was on a diet the same as this for 12 months and seeing a dietician every week. I only lost 15 kgs (30+ pounds). I should have lost a heap more and it was really expensive, about the same as the out of pocket for my VSG. The reason I didn't lose is because I wasn't sticking to it, because I was bloody starving!! You've been on a really restrictive diet for a long time which is hard (read: impossible) but are you sticking to it? because I couldn't! All the best, Deano
  4. I was done Nov 7th, and I'm giving anything healthy a try - in small amounts. See how you go and let us know

    Post Op Penis Size

I don't just think it's length. With better circulation and cardio fitness it's harder. Harder means thicker. My motto now is "Longer, thicker, harder for longer"

    Newbee

I have a cook and a maid. But my wife gives me the silent treatment when I call her that!
  10. And now my kids are on school holidays and going back in a week and a bit. I've told them I've made new school bags out of my left over stomach, because I don't like waste.

    Cheeseburgers?

I'm 10 weeks out and for me, I couldn't imagine eating a bite of a Big Mac let alone a half. Pre op I'd crave a Big Mac so I'd have one and it was always one of those things that I'd think 'I really didn't enjoy that'. Until 6 months later and I'd be out on a job and my dinner at the station so I have another one. Same thing. I find the sleeve gives me some control to think 'hey dude remember you don't like that #$%t' and I make a better choice. Horses for courses, Deano

    Snacking

I eat 6 times a day as directed and told not to graze. Foe me, grazing is mindless eating. My meals are planned.

Was that when big Ron would give her a nod and a wink?
  17. For me, I couldn't write a letter like that. I went into this procedure with my eyes wide open but optimistic. I have 8 year old twin girls. I was completely transparent with them, but age appropriate. I explained the procedure to them and what affect that would have after the surgery. I reassured them that I'd be alright, because that's my job. I guess I could get killed at work, in a plane, crossing the street. I've seen people die at the dentist after a reaction to something they were given. Actually I've seen people die in lots of strange ways, but that's another story. I'd hate them to read a letter later and think 'he was worried enough to write a letter, so why did he do it'. They know I love them with all my heart, because I tell them every day. Long story short - the best policy with kids is to be age appropriate and honest. My thoughts. Good luck with the way you go. Deano

Yep, I do. But it's only a snack in the am and one in the pm. If I waited 30 mins either side of my old style snacking, I be one dehydrated mofo!

    What foods cant you tolerate?

I'm 10 weeks post and I noticed I'm handling heavier Protein a lot better. Overly fatty things don't do it for me. My wife makes a killer Christmas cake (actually my great grandmothers recipe) But it has a good dose of butter in it. I took one bite over Christmas and woooooooh-mama. Not good.

    Cheeseburgers?

Sorry for hijacking your thread. To be honest, for me, the days of fast food as we know it are over. There's a girl on my office who has had a band for ages. She's lost nearly no weight. She's a single mum and takes her daughter to McDonalds a couple of times a week for dinner. At times I've seen her complain about the band not working and if someone brings up fast food she says "but I only have it in moderation". Long story short - there are lots of better options
