Happy Birthday. I'm sorry it didn't go so well. Imagine how you're going to look and feel next year! Sounds like your family are a bit challenged by the change in you. Like you said maybe they're struggling to know how to celebrate without it being centred around food. I don't mind eating out. I'm about 11 weeks post op. I just order something small, usually fish or some other seafood. I don't view what I don't eat as waste because I'm not going to miss out on socialising because I can't eat like a pig anymore! The other thing, like you said, doing something not isn't food centric. Like the movies. You might have to take the lead and organise it though, if it isn't something they'd come up with by themselves. Good luck. I'm sure this year will be a great one for you. Deano

Frustrated Newbie--HOW DO I KNOW when I'm full?!
*Dean* replied to TheLCSpencer's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah, I think the best tip is what Brookie said. Plan to eat at a ridiculously slow pace - and then eat slower! Cutlery down, talk between bites. Plus your tummy is still in trauma. All those things your looking for will take a while. All the best, Deano -
I could've done that in my prime! lol

The good ole days, eh? NOT
-
WTF??

I've never really been big on take away or fast food ......... but volume, sheeesh, I'm now sure I used to eat enough for 3 blokes.
-
Don't get that over here. We do deep fried mars bars tho ...... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deep-fried_Mars_bar

hmmmmmm, would probably be cheaper and more effective than mythical surgery.
-
Nice attention span you got going on there Fyre
-
Not surprisingly really.

I'd have to try it, because that's how I roll. But I think I'll stick with pancakes, bacon and maple syrup. Same concept I guess .......... just evil looking.
-
Is that bacon dipped in chocolate???? That's not right!!
-
Ha! Just scrolled up. I've never seen someone 'banned' before.

Sorry - I dunno, is I don't know another Aussie-ism

14 Months Post Op with Pics. 215 Pounds lost. Life's Good

GET THE %$#@ OUT! You're the man. Well done, Deano -
LMAO do you run a class?

Mate I felt like that at about that time. Don't go back to liquids - you gotta eat! My problem was not the amount, but how quickly I was eating. I've slowed it right down now and it has helped heaps. I take small bites and consciously put my cutlery down, and talk (once I finish chewing )

I had my wife convinced years ago that you could have plastic surgery to have the gag mechanism removed. I failed in my attempts to get her to agree to have the mythical surgery!

Hey, how come the whole vibe here changed. Have some people left? *looks around* It's like the pendulum has swung right back. I like.
-
You should. 87 degrees f and I'm by the pool!
-
Nice! I need one. I should get it ASAP. It's summer here and HOT

The speed it comes off is different for everyone. I'm starting to slow a little now, which is ok. Blokes seem to lose it faster than girls. Being older than 40, like me, seems to slow it up as well. What I've said before is - if it takes 6 months or 18 months to get to goal, in 5 years time when we're all still at goal will we care? :)
