Stay away from the grocery store!
*Dean* replied to Harpo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't mind shopping for food or cooking. I did a couple of low and slow smoked / bbq lamb shoulders last weekend. Once you learn to recognise head hunger I find it dies a slow death. If I get head hunger now I recognise it for what it is and can deal with it (ie have a drink, remove myself from a situation, actually say out loud 'that XXX looks great, but I'm not hungry' etc) I don't want to avoid food, because it's not something I can do ongoing. We're getting the first costco in the state, opening not far from here soon. I'm looking forward to seeing some of the stuff that you guys talk about. Deano -
............. more a reference to someone who wants to have sex with old people for money!!!

Hi K and welcome. I didn't feel any guilt. I knew it was my time for surgery. I'd yoyo dieted for decades and it finally came to a time that I knew I needed help. No regrets and no guilt. All the best, Deano

isolate vs concentrate protein
*Dean* replied to HikeEveryMountain's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The short version is that isolate is more pure. It's like comparing fillet steak with chuck steak. Unless you're a body builder or a serious athlete I wouldn't worry about it. Just use a protien powder that you're happy with ie - 1). the amount of calories / carbs it has and 2). the taste. It's no good having the 'worlds greatest' powder in the cupboard if it tastes like poo and you don't use it. -
Anyone coming to Australia?

*Dean* replied to devonmae's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Statistically, almost nobody can. -
Before I started the program I was walking for a couple of weeks until I got up to a brisk walk for 5k without feeling like I was going to die! Then the next week I kicked off c25k. Good luck! Deano

For me VSG was like baby bears porridge. Bypass was too extreme. Lap band had a high rate of revision and ongoing diet problems. VSG was just right.

I get mad people ringing work all the time making baseless allegations. I had a mad woman call the other day saying she thought her ex husband was giving her 12 year old son steroids because he was having a growth spurt......... For some people 2 + 2 = 64

Doh, Sorry Nicole! I shouldn't read first thing in the morning. Let's all just pretend that we're married, and disregard me completely!! :P As you were ...........

Hey Nicole, I've had a re read of the original post and I don't mean to speak for Cheri, but there's nothing there that say's she was offended. A lot of what VST is about is giving back and helping people with their struggles that are the same as your struggles. I've always found the vast majority of people on VST, including Cheri, to have a lot of empathy for others. I can completely understand how someone in a helping role can feel like they might be starting to burn out. I see it a lot in my line of work. And I have empathy for that as well.
