New guy here, you've GOT to read this!
allthatjazz4u replied to BigFrank's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Definetly reconsider!!!!! I too experienced a very easy recovery. ZERO complications...NO ISSUES whatsoever. I was sleeved on 11/14...I'm down 50 lbs. This has absolutely changed my life. -
Do a searh for "cold" and you will see you're not alone. I constantly cold since surgery. I sleep with my central heat, a hoodie and socks every night! I'm not sure of the medical explanation but it's VERY COMMON . :-)

Does anyone know about the kaiser options classes?
allthatjazz4u replied to SabrinaM's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Well you're on your way ! It'll be tons of more labs as u go through the process, stool sample, pap test, sleep apnea test...it's the most thorough physical you'll ever have ! Lol good luck on your journey...just keep in mind it will all be worth it at the end! :-) -
Does anyone know about the kaiser options classes?
allthatjazz4u replied to SabrinaM's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You wouldn't be able to go to the options classes if you weren't considered a candidate. Every step of the process must be completed to move to the next step...do there's absolutely no way you will make it to the surgeon and he denies you...unless your pre op labs are abnormal . Keep in mind labs are done at class 2 -

Oh...by the way, we didn't have to turn in our food logs although the stressed the importance of keeping one. I guess different kaisers have different rules -
Does anyone know about the kaiser options classes?
allthatjazz4u replied to SabrinaM's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I had my surgery through Kaiser on 11/14/12. I honestly didn't feel like I jumped through hoops. I finished options in August. I'm am EXTremely greatful for the options classes and the entire process. This is a life changing operation and it's something that can't be rushed into. Patients who fail typically didn't have the pre surgery classes that Kaiser requires. I remember being anxious and just wanting to get the process over, but now that I'm sleeved I absolutely could not imagine how I would be staying on track if it wasn't for all the pre op information I was giving. -

Nutritionist setting unrealistic goal for me?
allthatjazz4u replied to castiel's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon told me research shows only 5% of patients make it to goal weight. And to remember the surgery is only a tool. The sleeve will help you loose 60-80% of your excess weight. He also told me to set small goals(ie. 10 lbs or 15 lbs a month) and do not think this is the "cure all". I wouldn't stress over lbs and time limits, you don't want to become discouraged. -

Get a food scale. I got a digital one from amazon for about 11 bucks. Also one space in an ice cube tray is 1ounce. A 2 ounce portion is meat is about the size of an egg. 3ounces is about the size of a deck of cards Sent from my iPad using VST -

allthatjazz4u replied to Breeg89's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm feeling WONDERFUL. I've had no complications or complaints. I've lost 21 lbs since surgery...40 all together. I'm very greatful for kaiser and their options program. All the stuff they teach you really comes in handy. I couldn't imagine going through this without any prior knowledge and guidelines.
