  1. If you know you're eating too much (volume) & not the right foods, what makes you think another surgery is the answer?

I think you misunderstood. I am able to eat more that I should with the sleeve. Doesn't mean I go out of my way to eat more. Secondly, I have my bad days and good days just like you and everyone else on and off this forum. I don't always make the right choices but, for the most part I try to stick to my maintenance plan and I exercise. I wouldn't dare consider posting what I posted if I knew good and well I wasn't doing my part most of the time. Pointless. Hope that answers your question.

  2. Hey y'all. I had my sleeve performed on 4/22/13. My weight at the time of surgery was 357. As of today, I weigh 295 lbs. My lowest weight was around 283 lbs. Each month since having the surgery, it became easier to eat higher volumes of food. My weight loss slowed down, then stalled, and now I have regained. I admit, I don't always make the right food choices, but I exercise and try to keep moving. I relocated from SC to OH in early April and finally got up enough courage to make an appt with a surgeon. I met with him today. He thinks that my sleeve may be faulty and ordered an upper GI and lab work. He set a plan in place and asked that I lose 4 lbs in 2 weeks by my next appt. He said based on the upper GI results a RNY would be an option. My question is once you go through all those steps before the initial surgery, do the same requirements have to be met again for the insurance company for a revision? Does anyone have any info on this?

  3. I would say listen to her..ive lost 17 lbs in almost 2 weeks to optimize weight lost...its always good to keep your body guessing..mine said to never have the same amount of calories everyday..you burn faster that way..

How far out are you? Give me more info on your caloric intake. Do you fluctuate? I'd love to hear how you lost 17 lbs in two weeks!

  4. Today was my six week post op appt. My doc was happy about my progress thus far. I've lost a total of almost 40 lbs since surgery. I was about to leave out when the dietician stopped me and requested a sit down. Basically, she wanted to catch up and make sure I was following the diet plan etc. The part that scared me was the example of play food she showed me of what I should be eating. It was a lot smaller portion wise than what I'm actually consuming. I eat almost double of what she showed me. I limit myself to 800 calories a day which includes 1-2 Snacks. The Dr. actually suggested 1200-1400! The NUT told me not to concentrate on calories at all, but to monitor portion size instead and to cut out snacking. I feel like my way has been working pretty well so far and this person just totally kicked my legs from under me!! Do I continue on my merry way or listen to her?

  5. They are pretty high in calories. I use them as morning Protein Drinks and breakfast' date=' then i Switch to Isopure for the remainder of the day.

pudding will be nice!! I'm doing it now and it's awesome. I never ate pudding on any of my diets, so it's a real treat!![/quote']

Yeah, never thought I'd get so excited over pudding and mashed potatoes lol. Good morning and I hope you enjoy your breakfast!

  6. I talked to my NUT about the real sugar. She said its fine in these beginning stages because I'm not taking much in. Once I can eat food it will be nice

to move to Proteins and fruits and vegetables. I'm down 12. How many calories are you aiming for? I seem to very wildly depending on what I can tolerate' date=' buy try to keep it between 6-800. Yesterday was rough and I could only get in 500.[/quote']

Honestly, at this stage I pay no attention to caloric intake. I just make sure everything I have is on the approved list and that I'm ingesting the suggested amount at the suggested times. Eventually, I'll be gearing toward the 800 range.

  7. I hate them too' date=' but am tolerating the Isopure. So what are you using, the best I found so far are the naked and Bolthouse Protein plus. Sugar Jello and pudding have been okay. Maybe it was just an off morning...

    Congrats to you![/quote']

I use Isopure Zero Carb powder in chocolate and vanilla along with the ready made EAS and Pure Protein shakes. I checked on the Naked and Bolthouse a few weeks back but they had too many calories for my plan. I start my puddings, etc on Monday!!!

  8. Sleeved April 22nd also. I can't use artificial sweeteners' date=' so I do use some sugar in my tea, and regular Jello. No problems so far. Congratulations to us ladies!!!!!![/quote']

I'd be careful with the real sugar if I were you. Sugar converts to fat. I'd stick with unsweetened. Congrats to you also girly! I'm already down 13 lbs since Monday!

  9. I am so nervous about that part. I work in an assembly plant. How will I manage? I'm just going to have to do it!! All I want is my surgery date! You guys give me strength but I'm still scared! :)

How far are you into the process? I unexpectedly received my surgery date last week. I went for my last one on one appt with the nut and was told I was already approved. Prior to that appt on the same day, the sleep doc was telling me he wanted me to do another sleep study so that they could go ahead and send my info to the insurance comp. Imagine my surprise when the nut told me the news since I was still fulfilling requirements. Hang on tight. Your date will come in no time!

  10. I choose to stick with the Protein Shakes from Kaiser.....they also taste great. There pre-made containing 15gm per serving. It's so encouraging to know we're all fighting the same battle. Best wishes to all my Bariatric Beauties & Studs

  11. Prayer works y'all!!!!!!!!!!!!! I went to a couple of appointments today thinking I was just fulfilling the final requirements so that my info could be submitted to my insurance company. I was at the last one for the nutritionist and she said "Wait, there's a note here, you need to see Chris before you leave." I was like huh, for what?..she said well, you were approved for your surgery yesterday and you need to schedule your surgery!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Y'all I about died in that woman's office. I'm too blessed and too excited...praise Him..I'm getting sleeved on 4/22.

  12. Hello, I'm new to the forum and excited to find AA Sleevers. I'm so nervous, I'm two months into my insurance required six supervised visits. I've finished labs, the sleep study and several x-rays. I'm excited nervous. I want to lose 20-30lbs before the surgery, unfortunately, it seems like that is the same 20-30lbs I've been trying to lose for the last five years. I have not shared that I'm having the surgery with my family, friends (except one), nor colleagues. I know I need the surgery, but apart of me wants to try it on my own one more time. I know insane, right?

Hey Letty! No, I don't think you wanting to give it a try on your own once more is crazy. I think we all realize that the surgery in itself is such an extreme step, we almost try and talk ourselves out of it before going forward with it. If we could do it on our own there would be no need for the surgery. There's a reason why you've gotten this far...your doctors obviously agree that you need to have this done! Don't let the jitters scare you away from the new, healthy you. You deserve it. We all do! Good luck and keep us posted.

  13. My surgery went much better than I expected! I was up and walking the same day. I did a two night stay, then was released to go home. I was fortunate to not have any nausea or vomiting. I actually went back to work a week post op. I have a sit down job. I have absolutely no regrets. The only thing that I am tired of is the Protein Drinks. Ugh! I have to find a better way of getting it in. I cant stand the taste or smell anymore. Yuck!

Glad everything went smoothly for you! Keep us posted!
