March 9th Cancun Mexico @ Clinica Victoria Dr. Hector Perez

Hello Courtney! I got my passport last week on Friday. I paid for expedited service to have it renewed, and one week later it arrived. I was in shock because that was the fastest I have ever gotten a passport. Our surgeries are right around the corner! I hope to meet you in Cancun.

I have a few questions for those who already traveled to Cancun. Can anybody tell me if you need to exchange currency from US dollars to Mexican pesos or you just used visa/MasterCard? Also if you we're up for sightseeing or something was this on your own or did driver help out as far as taking you? I am looking for any advice you guys can give me like what should I bring etc....thanks!

I also kept second guessing myself! But I was able to great feedback from the people here, and on different forums who had surgery with him. I definitely think your making the right choice of going on your Cruise first then have your surgery. I plan on giving details of my journey so please do follow me.

After giving it much thought, and driving myself nuts with so many Doctor's to choose from in Mexico. I finally choose to have my surgery with Dr. Perez in Cancun. My surgery will be on March 9th.

I finally did it, and I booked my surgery for March 9th, 2013 in Cancun Mexico! Yikes....so nervous right now!

It really was a tough decision, but since I am in Florida traveling to San Diego was like such a hassle. I really didn't want to spend all those hours traveling with connecting flights, and then crossing the border to Tijuana. Good luck to you too on your upcoming surgery!

Hooray for you! I just sent my passport out today also with an expedited service. Tomorrow I will speak with boss about my vacation time. I want to purchase my flight tickets, but I cant until I get the vacation approved. So frustrating!!!

Glad to hear your mom will be going with you. I was terrified of traveling alone so my dear sis agreed to travel with me. Since hubby will be staying with the kids. I am also waiting for the final approval from work. I plan on using American Airlines they have a direct flight from Miami. If I use JetBlue then I have to travel from the Fort Lauderdale Airport which is about 45 min drive without traffic. Although JetBlue supposed to be cheaper the quotes have been pretty much the same. So not worth the extra hassle of driving!

Yes, I have to do a pre-op diet too! if everything turns out as planned I will fly to Mexico on March 8th with my sister. Will you be traveling alone?

Hi Everyone, I am new on this website, and this is the first time I am writing on this forum. I had pretty much decided to have surgery with Dr. Perez in Cancun, but I am having second thoughts because I cannot verify any of the Medical Associations claimed by any of the Medical Tourism websites. I have been able to very that he is a Surgeon in Mexico. But it just bothers me that they claim he belongs to all these associations, and I cannot verify that information. I am not saying he never did belong to any of them. Just that I can't verify that information to be current as of now. Did anybody else have these concerns? For those in the medical field; should this be of a concern when choosing a Doctor? This is what I am talking about: Boards and associations International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders Mexican Board of General Surgery, Mexico City Mexican Association of General Surgery, Mexico City Mexican Association of Endoscopic Surgery Latin American Association of Endoscopic Surgery Mexican Association of Obesity surgery I know some have had the surgery with him with no complications. Maybe I'm just very nervous about having surgery in another country! I really would appreciate your feedback on this. Thanks!

Thank you for your input Territravel. Maybe I am just worrying myself sick. I guess like many I'm nervous about the travel and surgery in done in Mexico.
