Yep that's what I had. Started the process in January & had surgery 7/26. When my Dr came in he asked if I was ready and I looked at him straight faced and said I've been waiting for 7 months LET'S DO THIS!! He laughed, I laughed and we went to work. Right now I'm struggling with losing, I was hoping it would be faster. I'm on all these boards & FB groups seeing other people lose 60 in 3 weeks, maybe an exaggeration, but it sucks. Makes me feel like I'm already failing when I'm following my Dr's orders to a T. Ok, sorry to ramble on there about myself ☹ You will do great and it does take time but remember it is for the better and you will be so much happier and healthier after [emoji16] Sent from my SM-G930T using BariatricPal mobile app -

After my sleeve the contrast did make me sick, after my DS it did not. It reminds me of super sweet Lysol lol. Take your puke bag with you, take 2 swallows of it and you should be fine. Just think after that you get LIQUIDS [emoji16] Sent from my SM-G930T using BariatricPal mobile app

Mine was 7/26 but I've been having HORRIBLE gas & heartburn since last week. Standing & laying down seem to help but I have a desk job so neither of those are options. :/ Gas X, Tums & fiber gummies have been my best friends! Sent from my SM-G930T using BariatricPal mobile app

I just had a true DS 3 weeks ago today. I stopped pain meds after I got out of the hospital, except for bedtime, & I was in the hospital for 2 nights. Walking was fine and the gas pains were less than when I had my sleeve. Since surgery I've had really bad gas pain and some constipation due to not getting all my water & fat it but I'm working on that. I don't have all of my energy back yet so that's annoying but hopefully in 3 more weeks I'll be ok. Is your surgeon a true DS Dr? Check dsfacts.com to see if they're listed. Unfortunately I hear about too many people thinking they're getting a true DS but they're not. Sent from my SM-G930T using BariatricPal mobile app -
YES good point! A lot become that way after surgery. Sent from my SM-G930T using BariatricPal mobile app

I haven't used that but do use Premier Protein, Protein20 water & Genepro, unflavored. And what you like before surgery you might not like after just FYI. Sent from my SM-G930T using BariatricPal mobile app

Pre-surgical liquid diet question
court2180 replied to RDBrown71's topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
Liquid in, liquid out LOL! It may or may not happen after surgery, depending on how your body processes pain meds, you're all good! PS...I'm having the opposite issue so I'm a little jealous. Sent from my SM-G930T using BariatricPal mobile app -
I'm 2.5 weeks out and have issues as well. I told my Dr Thurs at my post op appt and he said to up my water and fat & get fiber gummies. He said I should be going 1-2 times per day but I'm going maybe once a day or every other day. I also have HORRIBLE gas pains. Hoping for some food suggestions on here! If your BMI is over a certain percentage you should qualify. That's how it was with my insurance through my employer. Sent from my SM-G930T using BariatricPal mobile app

I think I had it fairly easy, had diarrhea until I started getting more solids in me, which for me was day 8. Other than being tired I didn't have many issues. I just went back to work Wednesday and of course that made me even more tired. I had my 2 week post op appointment Thursday and my Dr said my energy should be back no later than 3 months but most likely in 4 more weeks, the 6 week mark. Plus I can't have regular coffee till then so it's a double whammy! Good luck with surgery and after [emoji4] Sent from my SM-G930T using BariatricPal mobile app

Paralyzed leg with weight gain and Dr freaked me out
court2180 replied to Happyinside45's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I've been on Gabapentin, 3-4 a day, and I've gained weight but not from that. Depending on how much you need to lose I'd say the sleeve is the best way, I gained all my weight back but my Dr didn't make it the correct size. Now with a new TERRIFIC Dr I got the DS but my BMI is high and I have a lot to lose. Sent from my SM-G930T using BariatricPal mobile app -

I went with the DS based on if you eat all your protein & fat, limit carbs, you WILL lose the weight. Sometimes people lose too much and it has to be reversed but that's very rare. I have horrible reflux also. After my sleeve I had to start taking 1 40mg omeprozole in the morning and another at night. For ME not running out of breath, having hurting knees, sleeping better & having more energy is worth more than getting rid of my reflux. Sent from my SM-G930T using BariatricPal mobile app

OMG!!! Run as fast as you can away from that quack!!! I was sleeved in 7/13, lost 100, gained 105 & just had the DS two weeks ago. From what my support groups say you will have bathroom issues but he is trying to talk you out of it so he way exaggerated. If you're on FB look join Duodenal Switch Patients or DFW DS, there are A LOT of vets on there who can help you chose an actual DS Dr & one that's not a quack like this one. Just copy & paste this entire thing and I will tag some very knowledgeable vets [emoji4] Sent from my SM-G930T using BariatricPal mobile app

I'm 2 weeks out on Wednesday & I've not been eating enough (getting enough fat in) & been lacking on my water. I'm hoping when I go back to work Wednesday being back in a routine will help with all of this. I will get weak after doing something like bringing groceries upstairs, taking a shower stuff like that. Sent from my SM-G930T using BariatricPal mobile app

trouble taking my chewable vitamins

If I take mine on an empty stomach I will get sick. -
I am not a fan of sweet & low or anything like that. Is splenda a good substitute for regular sugar? I would also use it when cooking & baking. If not splenda what is a good substitute?

I had surgery 7/2 & started 7/5. It was slowing down until I woke up this morning. The Dr did say to expect irregularities but its just annoying! Oh to be man!!
