oh well I guess I would have to wait 2 more months thanks for the reply!!
  4. I had never thought about it this way but last year I turned 30 and I started to feel that I was not as energetic es before, my feet hurt. I have never been skinny so I guess I learned, over the years, to accept myself as I was. Thank God I have never stopped or avoided trying the things I enjoy and so far I have been a very healthy person. But both of my parents are diabetic and I know that just by that I am prone to become diabetic if I don't take care of myself so I realized that I needed to lose weight to avoid that happening. Still the most important thing that I feel was my biggest encouragement is that I want to have kids someday and I want to be a healthy mom and I want to have the strength and energy to enjoy being with my future kids.
  5. Is it ok to drink your liquids using a straw? It's like I have in the back of my mind that I am not supposed to use a straw to drink my liquids but I don't exactly know why or if it's true at all. Was anyone advised by their doctors not to use a straw?

When is the right time to try?

My doctor suggested to wait at least 2yrs.
  8. My surgery was 3 weeks ago and last week I experienced insomnia a couple night but I noticed that I had taken my vitamins late either in the afternoon or evening. So now I try to take them as early as possible. I think vitamins can give you some extra energy at night if you don't take them early.

    Third week

I was sleeved on Dec. 11. During my first week after the suregy I was on liquids only. Then the secon I started pureed food and this week I started introducing soft solids along with liquids and pureed. I felt very weak the first week and I used to get tired very quick. As far as the tolerance to food, I've had no problem. I guess each body is different and we all react different. I have been taking my vitamins. I thnk the vitamin D gives me energy.

    ADDICTED TO DIET COKE

In my opinion, stop taking something you are addicted to it's really hard I knew that I would most likely get a headache if I didn't have some coffee and that is why I decided to do it gradually. Maybe instead of tossing the whole can just sip on it until night or you could easily be tempeted to open a whole new can later. Make a big effort but don't torture yourself and tomorrow do the same only one can and just a few sips here and there. At least that might avoid the headaches and frustration. good luck!

    ADDICTED TO DIET COKE

I am afraid you should have stopped long ago. I had kind of the same problem with coffee but like 2 months before my surgery what I did was that I started to lower the amount of coffee I was consuming. It was usually 1-2 Lg coffees a day before that, sometimes more. But 2 months pre op I started buying just a small coffee in the morning and siping on it throughout the day. Sipping instead of drinking it within an hour helped me to have the taste all day and eventually I started noticing that I wasn't finishing it. By the time I had to start my preop diet I wasn't drinking coffee anymore and I didn't feel like I needed it. I know it's kind of a rush to do the sipping experiment but it might help. But still you should definitely stop taking soda. At least my doctor told me I was not going to be able to drink soda or beer ever again. you can do it! just think of the huge reward that will bring and also the consecuences if you don't.
  12. I also agree we should be very respectful. And it's even easier just to say "you are probably not making the right decision so you might want to check with your doc if it is ok for you to take solids so early" than going back and forth using and explaining sarcasm. Thank you for speaking out Sarahcc. And you are right, we must support each other not make each other feel guilty.

What do I tell my clients?

I don't think you should stress about what to tell other people, specially if they are your clients. It sounds like you need their permission and I don't think you do. Now keep in mind that when you start dropping the pounds questions will come, but again I say, you should not stress about it. Focus on your goals and on what you want to accomplish out of this decision. I honestly don't keep it a secret. I think for me it is better to say, I had a surgery and now my eating habits are very different than before. Sometimes there is a lot of peer pressure and we end up eating what we are offered by others or we end up eating what others are eating not to feel left out. But now that I went through surgery and I see others eating the food I can't have I just think that it's for my own good. That I am the one losing lbs. There is nothing to be ashamed or embarrassed or to feel uncomfortable for having a bariatric surgery. It is something that takes a lot of courage and that not everyone is brave enough to do. So be positive and take it easy. Good luck!

GOOD fast food choices ?! :)

I think people are just trying to nicely help and give you good advise, that's what the forums are all about. There is a point where we all can eat any fast food. But is it worth it?
  15. I think it's way too soon and I am not even sure if we are allowed to have alcohol since it can dehydrate you. Plus those drinks have way too many calories. Just think if a drink is worth after all you have done to get your surgery. At least in my own opinion, I wouldn't like to go back to an OR. I already let my doctor cut me once and I want it to work.
  16. Whenever I see people eating the food I can't I just remind myself that they're gaining the pounds I am losing :D

  18. I am 17 days post op and this week for the past 3 or 4 days I have been craving for food at night. I do very well during the day but for some reason at night, I just start craving for solids. Last night I was craving and I had some broth but it made me feel nauseous. Is anybody experiencing the same or felt this way post op?
  19. Congratulations! What is your menu like during the day?

    Craving at night

yeah, I have been trying the Protein shake and I think that helps a lot. Plus I also try to always keep in mind what I have been going through before and after the surgery to remind myself it's not worth screwing it for some food that might even make me sick after all. It's hard but we should keep trying.

    Bathroom problems?

Oh thank God I have not been constipated. I was able to go like the 3rd day I left the hospital but once I started with puree food it kind of made me a little constipated. As sometimes I buy Gerber baby food I found this prune gerber and that helped a lot!
