    July 2013 sleevers

Is anyone else having trouble with diarrhea on the post-op liquid diet? My nurse cleared me to take a probiotic this morning. I am at the point that I can barely leave the house.

    Hiatal Hernia

My insurance paid for the hernia, but I paid the full self pay price for the sleeve.

    General Post-Op Conversation

My surgery was on the 11th. I am feeling better than I expected to at this point. I am starting to get 48 oz of water per day. I hope I will get to 62 eventually. I am walking 20 min per day per doctor's orders. I am still very tired and have to nap at least once during the day. I sleep well when I nap, especially if I lay down in my bed and not on the couch. Now if I could just keep the phone from ringing every time I lay down.
  4. Seven days ago, I was sleeved. I am feeling much better than I was five days ago. Every day gets better. I finally lost the 6lbs I gained during surgery from the IV and the gas. I am down 13.5 lbs. I wrote a blog post to explain to my friends and followers why I chose this route. http://ourchangingne...astrectomy.html

    The Wait

I waited almost a year. It was a long wait, but gave me time to prepare for the lifestyle change.

I am feeling even better today. Not ready to resume my regular activities, but not in pain and miserable.

    July 2013 sleevers

I am sleeved. I am on day three post-op. I have had more pain from the hiatal hernia repair than the sleeve. The other day, I told my nurse it felt like I had been punched. That's when she asked the doctor to allow me to have oral pain medication. That helped immensely. I have been sleeping off and on today, mostly because of the pain meds. I am not really in pain now, just sore and moving slowly.
  8. Tomorrow is the big day for me! I am feeling super nervous today. I feel the butterflies flying around in my soon to be smaller stomach. I can't wait for it to be over! I have lost 9 lbs on the liquid diet. My goal was 10. I am pretty short, so I am okay with 9. Heading to the store soon to pick up a new robe!

    Endoscopy today....

I had one a few weeks ago. I don't remember any of it.

    July 2013 sleevers

I am going to be sleeved on the 11th. I am ready, but still super nervous. I have a huge hiatal hernia that they are going to fix while they are in there.
  11. I am having my endoscopy tomorrow. I have reflux due to a hiatal hernia. They are checking that the reflux won't be worse after surgery. I am sure it won't as I didn't have trouble with reflux until the hernia. They have me tentatively scheduled for the sleeve on June 26th. I am so ready!
  12. I am scheduled next week for manometry and upper endoscopy. I am pretty nervous about the manometry since they don't put you out for it. I have a hiatal hernia, so I know any reflux is from that. Is the manometry absolutely necessary? I am self pay.
  13. I am new to the boards, but I have been lurking. I am hoping that my insurance will approve me. I didn't decide on having surgery lightly. I am half way through the six month process, and it seems like forever. I have had my first appointments and my insurance approved the additional psych testing. I hope it is a good sign. I have a blog, and I plan to blog my way through the process. I am an English teacher and writing is cathartic for me. On my last post, I explained why I made this decision. www.ourchangingnestnowwhat.blogspot.com I am interested in hearing any advice to keep me on track until the end of March when I am done with the six month doctor supervised "diet."
