If you are continuing to PB you might try thin liquids for a good 24-48 hours to allow your stoma irritation to heal. You want to have stuff that will run right through.

I would beg to differ on the comment you just made about Mexican Dr's giving bigger fills and not following fill schedules. I think that was a pretty uninformed comment. I noticed that the post before yours said she had 2 fills of 2cc's and from the name of the DR doesn't appear to be mexican. My first fill was only .8cc and my sister's was only .5cc and we both had mexican dr's. It has been over two weeks and I don't feel any restriction. I have been told that I cannot get another fill until I am at LEAST 6 weeks from the previous fill and have not lost 1 to 2 pounds a week for 3 to 4 weeks. So, I advise not making such across the board comments about "Mexican" dr's. And keeping in mind that most of the Mexican have FAR great experience that the american drs. Suffice it to say... they know what they are doing.

All this talk about tuna. Yummy. It is one of my favorites. Only, I am lucky enough that living on the oregon coast we can our own and there is nothing better. Can't wait for tuna season as we are running low.

I keep hearing people say that it could cause erosion of the band. How is that possible when the band is on the outside of the stomach? I was never a soda drinker so this is not an issue for me. I used to drink maybe one soda a month, so I definitely don't miss it. I just wonder how that reasoning applies. My doc said it's the carbonation that is the problem. It is gas that expands and since it is liquid it goes through the soma and when the expanded gas rises it causes the stoma to expand and swell, not only causing pain, but eventually could cause the stoma to stretch.

I think the most important thing is knowing that it does happen. One of my closest friends had been married to her husband for 10 years, she had WLS and a year later, after losing 125 pounds she started having affairs. She'd been obese her entire life and had never had that kind of attention. She had her surgery 5 years ago now and is divorced. I do have a hard time believing the rate is that high. But it does happen. Knowing it happens and being prepared I sure can greatly reduce the risk.

Hello, my name is Theresa and my sister and I are scheduled for Lap Band surgery on 12/22. We have both struggle with weight issues the majority of our lives. We have also tried just about every other diet out there. Our weight is hierdiatry. Our Mom (who is the most wonderful women in the world) weighs well over 400. She had the gastric bypass surgery 4 years ago. While some think it didn't work for her (she only lost about 100 lbs) we think she's better. She is driving again and gets out of the house almost daily. Both Lori (Sister) and I do not want to end up in her shoes. We are lucky in that we do not have any underlying health issues, but they are sure to come if we don't get rid of our obesity. We are anxiously waiting. I have done so much reading that I feel well prepared. But as I read, I see that there are lots of surprises. I hope all of you are doing well.

Surgery Scheduled 12/22

We are less than 1 mile from each other. We see each other at least 2 or 3 times a week. Would be more, but I work full time and also go to school full time. Dr. Kuri is our surgeon. We are looking forward to a new year, that's for sure. -
My suggestion on answering your questions about lap band surgery is to searc the internet there are hundreds of websites that detail everything you need to know. That is where I got my information before I decided to go ahead with this procedure. Go to Google and just type in lap band surgery in the search field. Unfortunately, there is way too much information for any one of us to write to you about. Good luck.

Teresa, I am an Oregonian who is scheduled for surgery on 12/22. I am looking for a Dr here in Oregon for follow up and fills. I have not got information back from my Dr yet on who he recommends, but what I've seen so far is that Drs in the area are expensive. Can you give me the name of the Dr you are using for your fills? Thanks. Theresa

I've Been Approved!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just found this site. I've been looking and looking for an on-line group that people actually use. There is one group in my area, but nobody has posted to for over a week. Anyway, my sister and I are both scheduled for next week, December 22. I am so anxious I can hardly sleep at night.
