Scale/non Scale Victories And Wish List
MammasMelting posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
So, I am putting this here so I can ALWAYS come back to it. Plus I would like to know what others victories are, and what you want to do or DID as a result of weight loss. This may already be out there, but I couldn't find it. Below is just a few off the top of my head that I truly desire. Here are my wants to do: Hot air balloon Ballroom dance class Roller Coaster Horseback riding Hiking Skydiving Helicopter ride Cruise My scale victories I will celebrate: 299 250 Onederland ( 199 or less ) 160 ( ultimate goal ) Maintain 160-170 And my non scale victories that will keep me going: Size 18 Jeans Size L shirt Walk up house stairs NOT winded Walk 1 mile Walk 2 miles Sit in a theater seat and have at least 1 inch space ( more is better ) Have a bah towel actually fit around me and COVER me CROSS MY LEGS There are more, so many more I am sure as there are so many restrictions on my life as of this day. I am sure once I see others I will go "Oh yeah...that too"!! -

Oh and yes, do the unsweetened almond milk...way better for you. Sweeten it with other means if you need to. -
How Many Calorie's, Fats, Carbs, Sugars Are We Allowed?
MammasMelting replied to Mini Me Wanna~Be's topic in Food and Nutrition
Yo Mini...are you on myfitnesspal.com?? If you go there you can journal your fluids, foods, exercise..everything...and I'm on there as well. Write this down in your notepad to ask Dr U or the NUT when you take the class. My papers are not with me right now, and for the love of God I can not remember...I know low low low though on carbs, sugar and fat. Dr U tells you in the consult that starches are EVIL # 1!!!! He doesn't want us eating wheat, potatoes, bread, pasta, rice, corn tortillas...etc. I myself plan to stick to this ( well try to ) ha ha. Even in small amounts...I feel better when I dont eat it anyway. -

Food extracts do work...I just bought 14 bottles of sugar free syrups ( like coffee syrups ) to use, and so far VERY YUMMY. Good luck! -
December Surgeries?
MammasMelting replied to mishiegirl2012's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yeah, that's it Nena...and though most are not meant to be rude or degrading, they simply don't know all that is entailed. I have one male co-worker ( we get along and laugh and have fun) but he is Paleo, and he swears by it..he truly believes that larger people are all lazy and over eat...and that is not it for all. He is simply the type that rags on anyone and anything that does not conform to his way of life. But for me, the people that really matter to me know, and are all excited...they have seen and lived through my struggles...and they are all that I care about. -
I just made my first shake using the Caramel Syrup...YUMMOS!!! 8 oz skim milk 1 Tbs decaf instant coffee 1 Tbs SF DaVinci caramel syrup 1 scoop vanilla Protein powder 2 handfuls of ice blend blend...the more the frothier... I have been dying for my coffee for 5 days...here I go.
-
So, I am SOO excited. My wonderful boyfriend had me order some DaVinci SF syrups for my shakes ( I am just over 2 weeks pre op), and they came today...14 beautiful bottles!!! I can hardly wait to use each one LOL....I feel silly, but this is going to help me succeed!

December Surgeries?
MammasMelting replied to mishiegirl2012's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
This is EXACTLY why I don't want to share with most co-workers. I get that they care, and they want to make sure I researched it ( they for the most part have not)...and since I don't talk about it with them, to them it may seem like a sudden thing. They have no idea this is all I have thought about since 2009! So I figure best to tell them when I'm done...once it's done they can say all they wont. I feel before hand we need all the positive we get to encourage us, help motivate us to not only lose, but to heal as well.Let us be the example of "Look I did it..I beat the odds"! Then we can say "neeener neeener neeener"... -

5 Days Out And Back To Work. My Choice
MammasMelting replied to mdonaldf's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats everyone...I am getting sleeved on 12/5...I HOPE and PRAY to God that I too have little to no effects. I am planning on taking a total of 7 days off ( including weekends )...so I'll go back the following Thur...that way if I do get weak or what not, there are only 2 days before the weekend. Of course, this is if all goes well...which IT WILL! -
December Surgeries?
MammasMelting replied to mishiegirl2012's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have told my closest friends, my family, and a few FB friends...so far EVERYONE is excited for me. I told my boss too, as I took some time off, and she is excited as well. Eventually I will tell all of FB and work ( of course will notice ), but I want to wait until I am done. -
Height, Weight, And Size Poll
MammasMelting replied to LeaveItToSleever's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Ughhh....her goes. I am 5'8", and 327.2 ( was 331 highest ). I wear a tight 28 pant and 3x-4x ( I wear baggy shirts "thinking" that hides the fat ha ha). Sleeve date to be 12/05/12. -
I was going to say the gas too...are you able to walk around for more then about 10 min? If not, try as best you can...that helps the gas to move through your body.

Mini, yes I live in Las Vegas...you are going to LOVE Dr!! And his staff...Ruth ( the front desk gal ) is so super cute and helpful, and Mindy ( insurance guru...you'll see her right after Dr )...she had the band, then had Dr Umbach due her sleeve revision...so she KNOWS what she is preaching to us. His psych eval is a short 10 page ( I think if that ) questionairre we fill out and return...he then give it to his psych and that IS IT! The nutrition class is about maybe 30-45 minutes long, and super easy. Of course with different insurance, there's different guidelines...but I love this place...and they are part of the Center For Excellence...so that made me feel more at ease.

Myfitnesspal Confusion
MammasMelting replied to OneWritersSoul's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was going to say you need to adjust your calorie intake as well in the settings. It keeps going up on the weight because if your calories are set to say 1300.00, and you get 500...yes according to it you are starving...and therefore when you "starve" your body stores the fat...and you tend to "gain". It should be an easy fix for ya. Try that and let us know. -
December Surgeries?
MammasMelting replied to mishiegirl2012's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
YAY!!! Congrats gettinfit!! I am nowhere near Jersey, sorry...but take this time to sample the stuff. I have only tried a few brands...one big tub from Wal-Mart ( strawberry...not too bad) a vanilla one from Albertsons, and then in my pre-op package I got a sampl pack of chocolate and orange cream from CHIKE...OMG..those were SOOOO good. I added skim milk and 1/2 tsp Peanut Butter to the chocolate...HEAVEN...the orange I just did skim milk...SO tasty. -
Doh... I didn't get Vanilla....I got all but lol. Granny you're sweet...and yes my Joe is a keeper. Jan will be four years with him...he does everything for my kids and I. God has blessed me for sure. He bought my vitamins too so I can get my routine down...I never knee how much unconditional love and support really motivated me...

Pumpkin Pie! Yum!
MammasMelting replied to Fallenangel2904's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
That's one of my favs!!!! I use pumpkin pie spice though, and not creamer. Probably the same taste. I am pre-op and experimenting still. If you like chocolate and Peanut Butter, try skim milk, chocolate Protein powder ( I used a sample pack of Chike) and 1 tsp of creamy peanut butter...OH MY..tastes like a reese's. Even my daughter had me make her one!!! -
