I'm having surgery on 29th May, an omega loop gastric bypass, from a sleeve

It's also known as a mini gastric bypass (mgb)

I can understand why it was life threatening wow, Dolan is charging me the same but the anaethesist (bad spelling sorry) is only charging 1k We're you in Holywood?

Firstly congrats on how far you have come already, to sacrifice and make changes is so hard especially when you have been enjoying the good life for so long. In my opinion during this stage, stop counting calories and concentrate on eating clean up until your pre op stage. Make super that you have no meal without lean Protein, never ever have carbs on their own. Make sure your eating gaps are around 2.5 - 3 hrs and no more coz you will go into starvation mode. Even if you have just some milk, have something like almonds with it. I think if you are not happy with your surgeon before hand, definitely get another, you need to know when you are on the table that you are 100% satisfied. Hope that helps Paul

That's normal, you still have gas from the surgery in you, it will go away quickly , you may also be eating slightly too quickly. Have a spoon get up walk around come back and have another. This should help with moving the gas and should help you to get use to the sleeve. Remember your stomach is still adapting too Good luck Paul

Walking is the only thing that gets rid of it, try as often as possible, I know it's easier said than done

That's fantastic sacrifices you should be proud :-) I think it was stretched from fizzy drinks(sugar free) and just not listening and identifying between hunger crystal and over full crys. Within 4 months I was on my way back to old habits, I managed to lose 42kgs and piled it all back on, so now I'm booked in for an Omega loop bypass, I see it as my last chance and really can't wait. My headspace this time round is completely different . I really feel that emotions probably play at least 50% in succeeding

The way I see it is that we are given a chance to change our lives, after a sleeve your lifestyle changes considerably and should become a way of life. Why wait until the week before surgery or even two weeks, don't eat carol right up until surgery, many people do that and see it as a last time to enjoy their current way of life. If someone enjoys it that much, don't have the sleeve. You have already made the choice so change it now., give up the bad stuff, get your diet right now and see the sleeve as stage 2 in your life. I can promise you now that you won't be able to eat then like you do now,trust me I did it, and now I have to go into surgery again due to a stretched sleeve, not fun!, Start your new life, your second chance now, your recovery will be heaps better

I have owned both and I would say the the fit one is better as the flex counts moving your arm up and down as a step . However I have recently upgraded to a Nike fuel band , it is absolutely brilliant and a million times better

Hi Leanne, thanks for that it's great to hear from someone that's had the same experience, really glad to hear it's going well for you. I agree Kevin is great although I'm still a little nervous as he hasn't done many of the loop ops before. We you at Hollywood and were you in intensive care for the 1st 2 days? He said that I would. I saw Jessica on Tuesday although it was only a short appointment because she had seen me before with the sleeve, it was great, I've ordered all my supplements from band buddies including the recipe book and feel more prepared this time. Unfortunately I will probably only get a week off work this time (aft I go home) as I'm not telling them about the surgery When Kevin went in, did he revise your sleeve too? Chat soon Paul

I would just add that at around 6-7 weeks pis top I had my first beer, wasn't a good move as I continued after that. The result being that the bubble expanded in my sleeve and stretched my sleeve, now I have surgery coming up on the 29th May for what is called an Omega loop bypass, which is a mini bypass including a resleeve, I would seriously urge anyone to stay away from alcohol, I learnt the hard way. As for smoking, we all know the down side, but remember it hits your lungs not your sleeve Was supposed to say post op not pls top lol

Wow that's awesome, well done. Unfortunately mine started well, lost 42kgs and then piled. It all back on, I have no resistance at all. I'm booked in to have an omega loop bypass next month, hopefully I can achieve my goals then. Glad to hear you have done so well

Who was your surgeon?

Great answer, my surgeon is Dr Kevin Dolan, he is awesome. Unfortunately I have no is stance or restriction left from the sleeve, I lost 42kgs but have put it all back on, I'm sure a lot of it was my fault though

From Perth, had a sleeve done in 2012 and new being revised to omega loop bypass next month

I hope so, but I'm not sure. I see the dietician on Wednesday which I guess is good as I'm not sure how long the opti diet has to be before hand. How long did your surgery take?

Hi I started with a sleeve 1. 1/2 yrs ago with a sleeve and it's stretched so I've piled all my weight back on. I am having the omega loop gastric bypass sine on 29th may. I'm slightly confused though as some people say it's only a 30minute op yet my surgeon says it will be at least 3 1/2 hrs grrrr

Hi it's going extremely well. I feel really guilty as I've had no problems at all yet. I'm getting enough protein and fluid into me with no pain , nausea or anything, going back to work tomorrow I may just work half day , had it going with u?

Yeah I'm not doing to bad, have been really nervous and doubting myself but have now turned that into excitement. Pre op is going ok have mane to lose 15kgs as of this morning . I have the dietician this Friday so I'm looking forward to that. Xmas party was good , I was really naughty but I guess I can call it the last supper lol. Glad to hear you are doing well
