You'll do great. Keep us posted. Our stats are crazy similar. I'm 5'3, 214, 35 years young, married to my high school sweetie and also have 2 kids. My surgery is on the 26th. I'm hoping I just won't want any of those foods anymore so I don't have to miss them. I'll say a prayer! We can do this! Not just for us, but for a better future for our families... food doesn't love you back. Don't give it a second thought! It's not worth it!

Sleeved on 12/12. Lost 20 so far. I need to tighten up my arms.

I'm sure others will speak to the work out side, but I recommend Mary Kay targeted action toning lotion. It really works on smoothing out the appearance of loose skin. I'm using it in preparation for my procedure on the 26th. It's doing wonders on my pregnancy pooch, hips, stretch marks and upper arms. I'm going to partner it up with compression garments afterwards. -
My advice to you right now is to breathe. You are living in your now, which by no means speaks to what your future will be. Don't be so desperate. Believe in Gods timing and trust that what didn't work out wasn't meant to be. Be grateful for the intervention and trust you have something better in store for you. It's when we get all worked up we make decisions we shouldn't. Be careful about being too desperate on the financing. Some of the interest and fees nearly double the cost. It's ok if you have to save up a little more - and please don't settle for the cheapest route you can find. You're worth more than that.

The day after Christmas
happyfam replied to Tink22-sleeve's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm just taking the pressure cooker off the whole situation. Keep it simple, don't treat it like it might be your last, try to knock out stuff early....like shopping (use layaway, if your waiting for money to come in), cook and freeze meals for Xmas, then some extra for family members afterward, delegate like nobodies business and most of all - take the help! Best wishes sleeve sister, I'm right there with ya on the 26th @ 8:30 am. -
Has anyone had issues with loved ones objecting to surgery? My husband is the epitome of support, But my parents are very upset that I'm narrowing in on surgery. I'm 35, 13yrs married, 2 young kids, 5'3", 210lbs with no comorbitities. Everyday life is hard because of the weight. I hurt just breathing. Even so, My mom feels surgery is too drastic for my situation and I just need to try again. Build healthy meal plans and be diligent. She's offered everything short of moving in and holding my hand. Thing is - I'm not new to all this. I've been dieting my whole life. I KNOW what to do, but feel regardless of my best efforts at weight loss, I'll never keep it off without the assistance of something like the sleeve. I know im a grown woman and my parents aren't the boss of me ). But still, I feel like at this age, the days of stressing my mom out should be over. I even took my mom to a support group and it didn't help ease her concern. Any thoughts on this? Experiences? How do you handle upsetting your loved ones. I'm a grown woman and feel like the days of stressing out my mom should be long gone... Thoughts?

Not Obese "enough?"
happyfam replied to Pamelia Corbin's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
BMI of 35 with 2 comorbitities makes you a solid candidate. I'm a 37 BMI, with no comorbitities and I hold my weight super well. I'm 5'4" and 214, but I don't look more than 175. I went for my EGD and had to explain my situation to every concerned nurse there (they were being super sweet, just worried about me). I'm self pay. I have insurance, but they wanted to comorbitities with a BMI under 40. Like I said, have none. I'm super healthy except for the fact I can't keep this dang weight off and I'm only getting bigger with every effort. You don't have to explain yourself if you know in your heart you've done everything you can up to this point. I felt what you feel, but its the same voice that tells us were not good enough for stuff because we don't look like everyone else that is now telling you your not worth this either. It boils done to insecurity and fear...fear we'll never be anything other than what we are. But fear is only....False Evidence Appearing Real do what's right for you. I'm all set for 12/26 and feel so good about this decision. -
What Blender Is Best?

I am in love with my nutribullet. $100 at bed bath and beyond, and you can use the 20% off coupons on it. Watch the infomercial. I'm not sleeved yet, so not sure how that plays into it. Getting sleeved 12/26, so my feed back will be a little late for Xmas. -
Me too! Same and same. Where are you at?

Had my stress test today... Rocked it. Got confirmed for 8:30 on the 26th, pro opp on the 18th. Had a stressful emotional moment today (unrelated to surgery), and all I wanted to do was get home and shove food in my face until the feeling went away. Since I was driving at the time, I took the moment to reflect on how I'm going to handle this trigger after surgery. Didn't come up with any kind of game plan, but I liked that I identified the emotion so strongly tied to food, and knew it had nothing to do with hunger. It will be a challenge. A real behavioral change for me. Don't take me wrong, I still went through with it ( the eating, that is) but there was a moment I separated it all and I felt good about that. Maybe that I could address it more straight on in the future. Pretty soon, I won't have a choice about it, and to that I am looking forward!

3 Weeks To Go And Nervous.
happyfam replied to Lhollingsworth's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You might very well need to get into some type of therapy to help yourself cope. In a sense, you are literally losing part of your identity. Ck you insurance options and ask your Doc if he can refer you to someone. don't be opposed to mild anti- anxiety/depression meds if you start experiencing issues, or feel you might truly have trouble coping. I'm of the mindset to take the help- in whatever form is most beneficial. -

Dallas, Texas Sleevers! !
happyfam replied to attractiveval's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
So cool, Aimee! Where are you having yours done? Where in DFW do you live? -
Hi all, I'm self pay in Texas. Insurance required 2 comorbities with a BMI under 40 - I have none. I'm tentatively scheduled for scheduled for the 26th in my home town of Denton with Dr. Stewart. My pre-opp appt on the 18th. Any other DFW December sleevers out there? I'm excited, but still worried my old ways will creep back in and sabotage everything. Does anyone else feel this way? Are there any other self pays out there? What are you doing to prepare since we're not under the same requirements as fellow sleevers with insurance? My Doc doesn't even require a liquid diet in advance. Just curious. Looking forward to the change.

Do you perhaps have a sour stomach? I was watching a you tube video by a sleever and she said everything just didn't feel right. She had no idea she had acid reflux. After getting on Prilosec, then later Prevesid, she felt normal again. Just a thought.
