  1. As long as we are going down on the scale, we are heading in the right direction...
  2. Anybody can chime in. I love that our little group is continuing to chat. It is very helpful to me. Welcome!
  3. I feel robbed! I think they changed the BMI calculation. I had done the calculation before and it said 166 put me into over weight, and 138 put me into high normal.. When I put it into this system, it says I am still 30.4. Then, I checked a bunch of other BMI calculators, and it says 163 into over weight, and 136 into normal. : ( No worries, soon enough!
  4. I just weighed myself, and, for what I am DETERMINED to be the LAST time, I just went from obese to overweight. The very very high end of overweight, but headed in a great direction due to this wonderful surgery. I am so grateful and so hopeful!
  5. I am OK with the Pure Protein shakes you can get at Trader Joes and other places. 35 grams of protein. I think they all have some after taste. Unjury makes a flavorless powder with 20 g of protein per scoop, and I think you can only get it online. They also have chicken broth from powder that I also like. I haven't tried isopure, but I've heard it is very good. Best of luck, Meegan Lee

I paid before, and I think that is common.

    Dizzy

I was sleeved on December 17, and today I did my regular 7 mile bike ride for the first time. I live up a pretty significant hill, so I was really pleased that I made it. It felt good over all, though harder than the last time I did it the day before surgery. However, I felt more hungry, and started feeling light headed this evening. I ate a cheese stick, which didn't help, and I ended up eating a protein bar, which has some sugar. I'm thinking it might have been low blood sugar, but also, eating about 600-700 calories a day, and doing a bike ride that I know from my body bugg burns 600 calories might have been a bit too much. Maybe on the days I ride, I have to plan my food a little differently. Does anyone else have this reaction to working out? Please let me know. Thanks!
  8. Every doctor has a different protocol, and you shoud probably follow your doctors, but I do think there are things to learn from what is working for others on a similar time frame. My doctor had me on liquids in the hospital, and pureed or soft foods, mostly greek yogurt, priotein shakes, cottage cheese and soups for the next two weeks. Last Monday, I went to phase three, which includes fish, chicken (blended so it is very easy to digest), well cooked vegetables in small amounts, and cheese. No raw vegetables for another month. And, no meat that isn't basically prechewed by blending it. Small bites, and all is well. I would think that vegetables that aren't cooked would be brutal to digest at this point. Use your best judgement, and see what is working for you.
  9. I really hope it helps, and I love that we can help each other like this! Wonderful! I'm on prilosec for three months morning and night, per the doctor. I haven't had symptoms, but I think they do it proactively.
  10. I know everyone has different protocols, and you should do what your doctor is telling you, but I was told not to drink 10 minute before or 60 minutes after. Absolutely yes on the protein drinks. The idea is to keep protein in your stomach until it digests, and it will keep you sated. My nutritionist says nobody gets the water in initially. It takes finding a new pattern of eating and drinking. If it were me, I would try waiting to drink an hour after eating. Being hungry is going to make everything more challenging. This is our honeymoon phase where we get to establish our new patterns without hunger. We have to learn how our bodies are responding and do what works for each of us.
  11. I have read several people say that they were hungry, talked to their doctors, and realized it was because they were drinking to close to when they were eating, and washing the food through the sleeve to fast. That is a way to get hungry fast. If you don't do that, and eat every 3 or 4 hours, the hunger shouldn't be an issue. I hope. : )
  12. I learned a valuable lesson tonight. I had scrambled eggs for dinner and thought "wouldn't it be nice to have a little more flavor" so I put a little salsa on them. Big mistake. My tummy twinged a lot. I won't try that again for quite a while. Other than that, doing great!. I started with a low BMI, and am loosing slower than most of you, but I'm down 13 since surgery, and feel like there is a chance I will lose 15 or 16 by my one month date. For me, with 50 pounds to loose when I got to the surgery date, that would be great. I know it will slow down, so I'm hoping for as much as possible in the first month. I dig a great jog and hike this week, which I was amazed I was up for, and it is helping with my weight loss. I lost 8 lbs the first week, 2 the second, and three already this week, which won't end until Monday. I think working out will be key to making it to goal. I'm very grateful to have all of you who were sleeved on or near the same day to share experiences through the journey.
  13. Are you journaling what you are eating? That really helps to keep track, and also, knowing I have to write it down make me more accountable. Are you getting your protein and vitamins in? The 64 oz on the water is difficult for me, and for many. Everyone that seems to be successful with this surgery says if anything starts going in the wrong direction, back to basics. Thinking good thoughts for you!

    Low Bmi'ers...how Long To Goal?

    Congratulations! Very inspiring!
  16. If you are not enjoying it, you will stop doing it. Better to go down to 2.5 or 2 mikes an hour and not mske yourself miserable.
  17. I am on my phone and i just wrote a very longresponse and deleted it. Frustrating. Basicslly what i said was that this is about math. If yiu stick yo sll aspects of yiur docyirs plan, the weight WILL come off, likely a few pounds a week. Dont get discouraged. I am diwn 10 pounds for the first teo weekz. I sm thinking good thoughts fir you.

  19. They might sell pure Protein 35 grams elsewhere. I havent triex costcos 39 grams of orotein drink. I just heard it was good. Best of luck!
  20. Everyone has different protocols from our doctors. Kaiser doesnt consider boost ir carnation Protein drinks. They want us ti drink the trader joes ones called pure protein, with 35 grams of protien and 170 cal.tgey taste like a chocolate or vanilla soda withour carbonation. They also reccomend one from costco with 39 grams. Maybe try one of those?

33 BMI and scheduled for VG...

Most insurance company's restriction is that you have a BMI of 40 or 35 with one co-morbidity. That is what I have seen. Some people self pay if they don't meet the requirements.
  22. I work full time, and took off two weeks of sick leave, which I had saved from many years of working at the same company. I'm very lucky to have had that. I don't know how old your kids are, but if they are old enough, you could let them know that you just need some time for a nap, and I'm sure they would understand. If they are tiny, you could nap with them. Just thoughts. It is very easy as a mom to not only be last on the list, but to come off the list all together. I have been guilty of this myself. Right now is a time when we need to take good care of ourselves. My son is 8, and has been very kind to me about the surgery. Making sure our dog doesn't jump up on me, and being very sweet. I'm pretty sure as we get into our new lifestyle, our enegery levels will sort themselves out.
