I had my anniversary on 1/9 and have lost 102 lbs. Gone from a 46 waist to a 36 waist. Feel great and wish I had done this earlier in my life. Doctor is pleased with my labs and my weight loss (72% of excess weight gone). Their goal was for 70% of excess weight to be gone in a year. They said I need to be at a weight that I was comfortable maintaining. If I felt like I could lose another 10 pounds and maintain that would be great but at my age (57) they could be happy at my present weight if I can keep it there. Loving life.

I am a sales engineer for an electrical company that sells to the construction industry. Needless to say I researched the procedure before signing up. Best move I ever made.

JJust had my 6 month check up today. Off all meds except for vitamins. Blood pressure 130/60. 209 lbs and 36 inch waist clothes (started with 46 inch). Life is good. Daughter got married 6/15 and family and friends could not believe the new me that happened in 6 months. At 57 years old, I wish we would have had this option 20 years ago. Food no longer rules my life. Life is GOOD.

Sleeved 1/9 starting weight 302, surgery weight 282, currently 217. Love my sleeve. Been in a stall for about 2 weeks but know it will start again. Started with 46 pants now 38 and almost 36. Daughter's wedding in one week, cant wait for the family and friends to see the new me.

Definitely yes. Best decision I have ever made. Always heavy and now have hope to be back to normal range. 13 weeks out and have lost total of 65 lbs from heaviest and feel great. No problems with surgery or issues afterwards. Go for it.

I have BCBSIL and live in NC. I started the process on Nov 4, 2012 and was approved on Dec 24th. I got sleeved on 1/9/2013. Approval on first request and for my insurance paid all but $50 deductible. No hassle whatsoever. Best decision I made. My BMI was 42 and I have sleep apnea and high cholesterol. Hope this helps.

I too am thankful for all the input people have written so I went in to this with my eyes open. Thanks to everyone on this site who has "told it like it is". Just 39 lbs to "onederland".

Had another NSV this morning. I have been weighing on the Wii Fit plus scale to keep track of my progress and my goals. Well this morning my BMI went below 35 and I did not max out the obese chart on the Wii. What a good feeling. I was sleeved 1/9. Highest weight 12/26 302, surgery weight 282, weight this morning 244. Feeling great. I think making sure you get your protein and water and making it to the gym at least 5 times a week is the secret. Even my wife is losing and she did not have the surgery. This was the best decision I ever made. Another sidebar-- my daughter is getting married 6/15/2013. I told my wife I would be at my weight that I was when we got married ( june 7 1980) of 210 lbs and asked her if she would be at her marrying weight. She game me the evil eye and said I was cheating!!!

Last night I had my first NSV (non scale victory). I went to see the play Les Mis in downtown Charlotte and I always dread the small seats in the theater. Last night was the first time I have felt comfortable in the seat and did not feel like I was taking someone's space. I am almost 6 weeks out and last week hit my first stall. Only lost like 2 lbs all week but I continue to lose inches. I have not thrown up one time and I am tolerating most food well. I usually have two premier protein shakes a day and a real food dinner. In between I try to eat a string cheese stick. No problem drinking all the required water. I consider myself lucky to be doing as well as I am and have lost close to 30 lbs since surgery. I think my biggest help has been hitting the gym and doing the elliptacle for about 60 minutes at least 5 times a week. Someone told me to rename my bathroom from the John to the Jim so I can tell everyone I go to the Jim everyday. Hope all my fellow January sleevers are doing well.

I had the same problem but my wife hooked me up with some of her totes she sells with thirty one gifts. I carry the organizing utility tote, the out n about thermal tote for my protein shakes, string cheese, and other snacks. I also have a cover for my Ipad. my 33 lbs includes the 2 week pre op diet. Sorry to mislead everyone. Down 13 lbs since surgery.

2 Weeks Post op with no complications. Feeling good down 33 lbs. Had to go get new sweat pants and had to get XL size because XXL was too big. Oh what a feeling!!!! Loving the journey. 85 lbs to go.

I was sleeved 1/9 and have lost 10 lbs post op plus the 20 lbs pre op. No nausea or problems and have first checkup next Monday. Be interesting to see what their scales show. Off to a good start just have to keep it going. It is very strange not to be hungry.

I am using the nutritionist in Concord at CMC NE since it is closer to me. Have my 2 week followup scheduled for 1/23 with Ruth Wadsworth. Just woke up and the gas pains continue. Hope gas-x works well today. I guess I will need to do my 60 minutes of walking but it is supposed to be a warm day. Good luck with your journey. PS. Dr Pirrillo said he started the flu on Dec 21 and barely was able to finish his second case and had to cancel his third surgery. I guess you was one of the first two he did that day. Guess that didn't hurt his performance. Sounds like you are doing great.

I just got home today from surgery yesterday from Dr. Pirrello. He is great and his staff always helpful. Only one night stay in Presbyerian Matthews and the best night nurse I have ever had ( Kim). Very little pain and so far so good. Dr Pirrello is a perfectionist. I was supposed to be operated at 10:15 but he had a case before mine that was difficult. Instead of rushing the case he postponed mine to about 12:30. I was back at the room around 2:00 and walking the halls within the hour. He has done over 2000 sleeves. He did 29 in December 2012. I would highly recommend him and Presbyterian Matthews.

1 day post op and got home around 2:00 PM today. All is well-- no nausea or much gas. Walked all night and got little sleep. Glad to be going to my bed tonight. Removed drain right before I left and the insisions were glued not stapled so nothing to remove. Now I am sipping oh yeah shakes and crystal light water -- 2 oz each per hour. No problems yet. All future sleevers-- nothing to worry about -- so far so good. We all need to name our sleeves-- I think I will call mine Sheila so if they act up you can just say Sheila is having a bad day. LOL.

Tomorrow is the big day. Started the clear liquids today with the pre op prep. Feet are getting a little cold but excited as well. No turning back now. See you on the post surgery side.

Just got word today that Jan 9th is surgery day. As all have said, excited and anxious.

Just got my approval letter from BCBS of Illinois and have target date of Jan 9th in Charlotte NC with Dr. Pirrello. What a great Christmas present! Ready for the journey and new life.

First Post here. Went for first visit to the doctor and have started the process. Have psycological visit tomorrow. Hope to have all done and insurance approval for surgery first of January. Been in this body for 56 years and look for new lease on life so I can live long enough to see my daughter married and hopefully my grandkids born and married.
