    1 Week out

I have had some headaches, but they are from the caffiene withdrawals. I'm off all caffiene now. I'm going to ask that they video the entire procedure and talk me through it, as if I was awake. Good luck to you!

    1 Week out

After the 3-4 month pre-surgery hurdles done, I am one week out. Tomorrow( 08 Jan 13) is the required education meeting with my spouse. THey say it takes some 6-8 hours, we have scheduled all day. I am having a hiatial hernia repair at the same time, and all were approved by Anthem BCBS on the first round. I really think Michelle, the Insurance coordinator at IU Health (Bariatric) is the real reason everything went through so fast. Looking foward to having this done, but still very nervous. I have really struggled with the Pre-surgery diet, have been about a 90%er with it, some days good, some not so good. My surgery date is next Monday, 01-14-13. I really appreciate all the forums, they help answer alot of questions. Later.......
  3. I've been excessivly overweight for some 20 years. When I was in my 30's I could take it off pretty easy. Now I'm 55. At my heaviest I was 265. My joints hurt, I get the looks, I'm constantly tired, and developed into a Type II diabetic. My Friends wife had bypass surgey some 10 years ago. She lost 150#. but over the course of time she has managed to put alot back on, so bypass never seemed the right thing to do. This year, after several years of losing 20, putting on 20, I found out about the VSG. I read the studies on the effects on type II diabetes, and I started looking for a surgeon, and program. Coincedenlty, at the time I started looking into bariatric surgery, a person I have known at work, revealed that he had a Roen Y. He lost some 80 lbs. After a few conversations with some RN's ( they tell you who's good or not- great sources of infromation!) I chose a surgeon and program. I recieved the insurance approval today, dated 12/03 (day before my birthday.) Now the journey really begins, and I would like to find a mentor or coach to help me along. I had a friend for 10 years who was a mentor. He died in September.
