  1. Yes! I have been experiencing the same stall. My calories and yours are typically the same, I don't get as much water. I changed up my workout routine to include some interval training, and the stall broke! It broke big time, I lost 5 lbs this week. I think the interval training is really working. You might want to give that a try. Good Luck! Let me know how it goes.

  3. I eat too fast also! Yesterday, I made a real effort to take my time eating and it was actually very relaxing meal. Hubby, daughter and I had great conversation. The meal's focus was the conversation, not the food!

    regular pills again?

    I can't stand the chewable vitamins, so I switched to the "horsepill" I took before surgery and am having no problems! I'm 4 weeks out from surgery.
  5. Hello all, I haven't checked in for a while, but just wanted to say hi to all Nov Sleevers! I'm just about 1 month out and am loving life! I've lost 30 lbs. and am down a size. WOW! I feel great, have tons of energy and can't wait to go to my first yoga class. I've kind of been just trying out certain foods outside of the soft and moist phase. I have found that adjusting some recipes I can cook again and enjoy a hot meal every evening. Went to see my surgeon yesterday and she told me that I can eat soft veggies, seafood, chicken, ground meats and berries! I told her that I was so sick of protein shakes and she suggested that I add peanut butter, strawberries or greek yogurt to the shake and blend well. I can't believe my weight loss, and certainly expect things to slow down soon. Hope all is going well with you and that you too are loving life with your sleeves!
  6. I was sleeved on the 15th and hit a stall for three days, then this morning 2.5 lbs gone! I did nothing different, just stayed the course! Hang in there little "stalls" are bound to happen.
  7. I am so with you on the sweetness of the protein drinks. Right now I'm able to get in 1/2 of and Ensure. It's not too sweet but has lots of protein. Luckily, I moved on to "soft" foods today and will be there for 4 weeks. I don't know how you can eat pureed food. Just the idea made me gag! I begged my nutritionist to please find a way past that, and she did. She called it "modified liquids" (cottage cheese, yogurt, mashed potatoes). Yeah, lets keep in touch and keep up the support.
  8. Flintstone chewables with iron 2 per day! However, I can tolerate pills you swallow and I think I'm going to switch! I hate the orange flavor too.
  9. My sleeve was done by Dr. Farah Husain. She is the bariatric surgeon for Kaiser Permanente in Colorado. I know the wait seems forever, but it will fly once you have a date! Good luck and keep me updated!
  10. Hi Kathy, My wait was about 9 months in all, however, I pursued WLS for about 3 years. Once I was ok'd through my insurance (Kaiser), I had to go through a 6 month waiting period and then 2 months of nutrition classes, 2 mental health assessments, and a battery of blood tests. Once in the nutrition classes, things began moving very fast! Within two weeks of meeting with the surgeon, I was in surgery. It would have been sooner, but I chose a date that would work with my work schedule. Looking back, it was all worth it. The classes were great because they really prepared me for life after surgery. I am now 2 week post-op and down 23 lbs! I feel great. This was totally worth the wait. Good luck and enjoy all the benefits of WLS!
  11. Hi, We have the same surgery date and real similar weight loss. This morning I woke up feeling listless, no energy at all. I broke a rule and drank a cup of halfcaf (half the caffeine of normal coffee) with a splash of sugar-free Toriani Carmel syrup. That did the trick! I sipped slowly, but felt better before I left the house for work. I didn't really bother my stomach, which was a big concern. Then about 1/2 through the day I pop my Bcomplex Vitamin, and it gives me another energy boost. My biggest problem right now is the 64 oz of Water. That is really tough. I can get in about 32 oz. through the course of my work day, but then in the evening, my sleeve seems to fill up fast and I just can't get enough in. Oh well, surgery was still totally worth it!
  12. Glad to hear that so many are doing great! I'm 14 days out from my surgery and starting soft foods tomorrow. I really want to start being more active soon but my surgeon says not until after my one month checkup. I went back to work on Monday, and am really sore today. I'm hoping that it's just part of the healing process! Good luck to all upcoming sleeves, it's the best tool ever!

  15. Hi all~ I had my surgery on 11/15 and only had to spend one night in the hospital! My post-op recovery is going great, I'm even going back to work tomorrow! I'm happy because I'll be less sedentary and more active. My only complaint is some soreness in one of my incisions still. However, I tried to take it easy today, and it's a lot better. I'm down 24 lbs. since surgery, WOW, but I expect the weight loss will begin to slow as I start eating denser foods. However, I plan on starting Yoga on Wednesday, so that should kick start loosing again. Have a great day and let's keep in touch! Jana
  16. Actually, I'm pretty good. My daughter and I spent most of the weekend shopping. That did cause some soreness, though just at one incision. I'm going back to work tomorrow. I teach 7th grade, so hopefully the kiddos will take it easy on me! On Wednesday I get to eat what Kaiser calls "Soft and Moist' food. That includes stuff like cheese, lunchmeat, meats...almost normal!

  18. Hello, I also started the pureed stage last week, and was worried about constipation. However, I found a brand of oatmeal at the grocery store that contains flax. It's keeping me regular. The brand is "Better Oats". According to my surgeon and nutritionist, call the doc's office if it continues for another couple of days! Hope this helps!
  19. Hey all ~ I am 10 days out from my surgery and have pretty much had NO problems with eating. Eggs are going down fine, cottage cheese great, oatmeal perfect. OK, so I'm going back to work tomorrow. Any ideas about good and easy "meals/snacks" to pack for the last 2 days of the pureed stage? Thanks!

    Official: FitBit Thread

    Hello all~ I have a fitbit and love it! Now that I am post op, I need to adjust my stride, etc. I use the site regularly to track my food as well. However, I need to roam around the FitBit site and learn about what is available there. I've had mine for about 3 months, 2.5 months pre-op and haven't worn it since surgery 9 days ago. However, I'm putting it on today! If you have any tips about using it, please let me know. Thanks!
  21. I really miss caffeine too! I have a diet hot chocolate with a tablespoon or two of non-fat dry milk (adds protein).

  24. Made it through Thanksgiving, thanks to my wonderful surgeon who said I could eat anything soft and mushy: mashed potatoes, yams, stuffing and turkey chewed well. My family is so supportive, they all encouraged me as I placed 1 tablespoon of this and that on my plate. I have never had a Thanksgiving plate that was so sparse! I'm proud of me and all sleevers who made it through this wonderful day.

    Happy Thanksgiving!

    Happy Thanksgiving all! I'm just a little over one week out, but my surgeon has ok'd turkey, green Beans, mashed potatoes and stuffing! I'm bringing a small plate and my baby spoon and fork. I'm nervous how my stomach will react since I've been on mostly liquids for two weeks. I must remind myself how grateful I am for my family and my health and my sleeve!
