Hello. I'm 34 for another week anyway. I live in southern Indiana. I'm divorced with two kids, 12 and 4. I started this journey last April. I've been approved by my insurance company and have gone through EVERYTHING needed to have the surgery. For some reason, I can't lose the 5% I need to in order to get my surgery date. I exercise...eat right (most of the time). I've been on Optifast since last Saturday hoping to speed up the weight loss; however, when weighed at the Dr.'s office on Wednesday the loss was only 2lbs. My scale that morning said a loss of 7lbs. I even weighed before I went to the Dr's office and the scales are 1.5lbs in difference (Dr's weighing more). Anyway, the whole thing has gotten me so FRUSTRATED!!! If anyone can give me any pointers, please feel free....

I'm here to tell you that I don't believe any of them kept off everything that they lost. The guy that won last year put back on 30-40lbs. You could see it in his face. Overall though, they did look good and none of the ones that were on the reunion show went back to their beginning weight. I like all of the names. I was thinking of "Gifted Garnets" since we will all receive our biggest gift in January and the birthstone for most of January is the garnet. Keep the names coming.

CONGRATULATIONS!!! I have UHC Choice Plus too and was approved within 48 hours. With my plan, I only had to have a BMI of 40. If you don't have that, then it may take a little longer for them to "check out" your co-morbidities. From what I've seen and read, UHC is one of the easiest to get approved from. My doctor only does surgeries on Tuesdays. My meeting with him is on January 4th. Hopefully, I'll be scheduled a couple weeks after. I have to be on an optifast two weeks before the surgery...we'll see.

but I do have a date with the surgeon on January 4th!!! I will be in the office for about 5 hours going over everything, signing papers, and meeting with the dietician again to get on the liquid diet. Surgery usually follows about 2 weeks later...I hope.

comepickmeup! thats awesome news. i was called this morning by the doctor's office to set up an appointment with the clinical physician and the dietitician. after that, i guess i'll be set up to meet the surgeon...then get my date!

Hey all. My doctor does require a 2 week optifast diet prior to surgery. I also have to technically lose 8 lbs before I can see the surgeon to set my date. :help: I had to lose 6 lbs in order for my dietician to ok me for surgery...this was what I needed for my paperwork to be submitted to insurance:faint:. It seems like I'm jumping through A LOT of hoops for this surgery...some more stressful than others :omg:. Wish me luck on losing these 8 lbs...the sooner, the better... Good luck to everyone else...band land here we come!

Thanks hoosierpoms! I've been doing my two-step since opening the letter! WOW 73lbs!!! You are doing GREAT! I'm not sure when I'll have the surgery. Maybe starting off the new year would be a good idea!?!
