  1. How is it? I got some at Calandros on Seigen. Added it to a protein shake, and it didn't seem to dissolve.

    Im 5 days post op..

I was the same. Warm decaf tea was easier to drink. Protein was hard. Once I was able to have food, that hunger was gone.

I'm 43, live in prairieville. Sleeved at Woman's on December 17 by Dr. Bellenger.
  4. Just completed Week 1, Day 1 of the app. Not has horrible as I imagined, and think I burned all my breakfast calories though. Time for a protein shake!
  5. I have two. My surgeon gave me one and the hospital. I'm not sure if I will use it. Friends who have had the surgery either share with the spouse or have leftovers for a few days.

    Baked Ricotta

I made this last week and it was so awesome. Even my hubby enjoyed it. I so needed something different to eat.

Pasta lovers? Low carb lasagna roll-ups

We used Dreamfield pasta when losing on the South Beach Diet. Very yummy, and no one could tell the difference.
  10. My doctor is one of the best where this surgery is concerned. He was the only American surgeon invited to the International Sleeve Conference in NYC on December 6, 2012. I also find it surprising, and confusing when I read how everyone's diet is so different. I was on clear liquids in the hospital and through post op day 3. Then full liquids for two weeks. Then I was able to have ( to me ) real food. It must be well chewed and most-seafood, chickent/turkey, well steamed veggies, and raw fruit. I am moving into week 4 as of this Monday, and last week I was ok'd for real coffee, raw veggies, and vitamins that I can swallow. Plus, I may begin exercising "in earnest". Hubs and I are going to train for a 5K that is scheduled in late spring.

    Sprite

Try flat Caffeine Free Diet Coke. It actually has some potassium in it...my kids pediatrician used to recommend that when they refused Pedialyte.
  12. I had the opposite experience. Had my gallbladder out, spent an hour in recovery and went home. Next day I was up and about, driving my kids where they needed to go. Never took a pain pill. So I based my ideas for the VSG recuperation on that experience. I insisted I would be fine, wouldn't need pain meds...I had three C-section, a tubal, and a lap chole under my belt. With those procedures I never took pain medications. In fact, with the first baby I labored 36 hours drug free and was pushing when I need an emergency section. So, in the hospital with my sleeve, I had 2 doses of IVP dilaudid, went through 45 mgs of Morphine in my PCA, and took pain meds at home. 2nd day post op I was regretting my decision...heck, I think that lasted the whole first week!! Hope you are feeling better! Good luck!
  13. Hey y'all, I'm in Prairieville!! The weather has sucked all week. I need to get my treadmill hooked up so I can walk.
  14. Anyone try them? At which time in the post op phase did you try them? And which ones did you like the most? I am one month post op, and eat seafood, turkey/chicken, and well steamed veggies. My doc cleared me for raw veggies next week. I forgot to ask him last week at my visit about the bars.
  15. My surgeon and his PA said there isn't anything that you can do about the stalls. It will start moving soon. It's not going to happen overnight.
  16. I went back to work 16 days after surgery. I'm a nurse, and I'm exhausted at the end of the day.

    My surgery is Monday!

I too worried about not waking up. In fact, I was terrified by the thought. I was thankful for the shot of Versed before my surgery. Remember, worrying is like praying for something that you don't want. Try to relax. Pray. It's going to be ok.
  18. First week was very hard for me. My nut and MD said the first week or so, water is more important than protein. I was unable to do the protein during the first two weeks. Your liquid protein intake supposedly counts towards your oral intake of fluid. Gas x strips helped. I walked circles in my house to help pass the gas. Good luck, it does get easier.
  19. Hit the brick wall doing 60mph!! Total loss at my 3 week visit, 23lbs. My doc advised against daily weighing, but said if I could handle seeing the scale move up to feel free. I've lost ad gained the same 1.5 lbs all week.
  20. We went for our 19th. That's where my profile pic is from. It was an amazing trip. We went with our best friends from childhood, and renewed our vows with Elvis.

    Hunger?

I was constantly hungry immediately after surgery. My tummy felt like it growled at me all the time. Water and protein didn't satisfy me. Once I was able to eat real food, the hunger went away. I am satisfied after eating.

    Glue on your cuts...

I didn't get dermabond because of my adhesive allergy. My friend had surgery the week before me, ad also is allergic to adhesive. She had a horrible reaction. Our surgeon opted to not use glue on me. So I went home 24 hrs later with six incisions, with no staples, sutures, or steri-strips.

    Wal-Green's commercial?

Yup. Hilarious. That's what I feel like when my family is eating fast food as I sip water.

    out of ideas

My surgeon did clear liquids for two days, full liquids for two weeks, then soft foods. I tried egg beaters today, and after one bite I had dry heaves. OMG, nasty!!
