    questions one month out

Protein bars are high in carbs. I'm not allowed to have them. Can you tolerate scrambled eggs, Greek yogurt, ground turkey? There is a recipe on here for baked ricotta, and it's amazing. Also, my nutritionist told me about a blog, the world according to egg face. She has a lot of recipes on her blog. I just bought a cookbook for bariatric pts, weightloss surgery cookbook for dummies.

    Sorry weird question but..

At almost four weeks post op my surgeon said I could have a cup of regular coffee. No problem since then.
  3. I don't like any of them. Dietician said to get over it and start drinking. They all have a weird smell, and that grossed me out. She had me try with a straw. Helps a little.

    Urgent care

Not a huge fan if Paxil. Took it after third baby was born. Once on it, I gained over 100 lbs. it was difficult to wean off of as well. I recommend Viibryd. Works well with anxiety type issues. Wellbutrin is another good choice, with the least amount of side effects.

    Potty troubles?

The new whey I had the first few days post op caused instant diarrhea. I stayed fairly regular until I could eat food. Then I would go days without a bm. At 3 weeks doc said I could have regular coffee, and it worked.
  6. Morning I take one Celebrate MVI ( not chewable ), B 12 ( M-W-F ), two chewable calcium citrates, Pepcid. Noon is MVI, and calcium. Bedtime is MVI, calcium.

    Urgent care

Don't ever allow a healthcare provider make you feel like you did something wrong. You are a consumer, and you paid for a service. What shouldn't have been included was indifference and judgement. I agree that you need to follow up with your surgeon ad pcp. Six years ago, I had a pain on my right side that would wake me from sound sleep. If I took a deep breath, it went straight through me. Went to urgent care, doc palpated my abdomen, I had rebound tenderness, taps my foot and it causes abdominal pain. Sends me straight to the ER. I have a gallbladder ultrasound done and it's negative. My labs are normal. I'm discharged home. My pain continues so my PCP orders a CT of my abdomen. It reveals an ovarian cyst. I wasn't buying that as the source of my pain. She orders a HIDA scan the next day. Didn't react as the tech thought I should, so he had me get out of scanner ad walk around for 30 minutes. Resume the test, and he says it's normal. Tell my pcp when she calls to give the results what happened, and she's furious. She calls a surgeon who agrees the tech fouled the test. I'm in surgery the next morning, to remove a sludge filled gallbladder. You have to be persistent. Only you know your body.

    Urgent care

Go to the ER. Most urgent care facilities lack the more finite diagnostic equipment that a hospital has-the calf pain is concerning, and the UC doc will likely send you to the hospital anyway. Safe yourself the trouble.

    Help with Protein Shakes

I got a very well deserved royal ass chewing from my dietician yesterday. I've avoided the protein shakes for two weeks because they are so damn gross. I've added peanut butter to them to mask the smell-the smell is what gets me. But in order to blend it, I have to put it in a blender. Now my shake is 2 times the amount because its nearly whipped. She told me to started treating it like medicine.

    coffee

Im 5 weeks out. At week 3 my surgeon said if I could tolerate coffee I could have it. I agree, it does keep my regular.
  11. You will feel better once you can eat. You will learn the difference between head hunger and true physical hunger. Treat your new tummy as a tool and follow your surgeons instructions. You will be successful.
  12. I'm tired too. Right now one of my six incisions is funky. Last week four of the six had sutures work their way out. This last one must be stuck. Taking bactrim, and cleaning with peroxide.
  13. Yep, it's general anesthesia. They did mine differently because I'm harder to intubate.
  14. When a tube is inserted into the trachea to maintain an airway.
  15. I had three sections, tubal ligation, and lap chole. My sleeve went fine. Hardest part was my intubation. I'm way anterior, and they used a laryngeal mask intubation. They couldn't use the boughie, because they would risked extubating me.

    Self-Pay Sleevers

I'm in Louisiana. Decided to go self pay route instead of jumping through my insurance company's hoops ( 8 years ago I did six months of hoops, and they denied me anyway ). My fee was 14000, and it included the surgeon, hospital with overnight stay, nutritional consults for a year, follow up with surgeon for 2 years, ad BLIS insurance. Money well spent.

    Need some advice

At 4 weeks my surgeon allowed me to have coffee. I usually can't finish one cup, but I've been more regular since then.

    5 days post op...

Sometimes post op low grade temps are related to being dry and lack of deep breathing. You should be more focused on hydration and not protein, and do your deep breathing/coughing exercises. It will get better!
  19. I felt the same way the first week. I was miserable and felt like I had made a mistake. Week two slightly better. I'm in week 4. I can eat small amounts of soft food and feel better. Still struggle with liquid protein though.
  20. Let me say this-a few years ago I went to a uniform shop. Tried on a set of scrubs, they fit great, so I grabbed a few more sets. Only one set fit when I got home. All three were the same size, same brand. Just try a different brand. I like old navy jeans.
  21. I used the pb2 powder, and it didn't dissolve. So I had a bunch of sludge at the bottom of my cup.
  22. One of my healing incision started to ooze a tiny amount of pus. I saw my surgeon, and he said to leave it alone, it would be fine. Left it open to air, and over a few days it did look better. Then last Friday, it starts oozing again. I called him and he said to clean a few times daily with peroxide. So I did, and by Saturday it looked better. Well, last night I notice a string hanging out of one side of the incision and when I pulled it, it came out a bit. Pulling any more hurt. Tonight, it's still there and now there is a string hanging out of the other side...yuck.
  23. How's your liver? You said your face is yellow. Are the whites of your eyes yellow also? Is your urine dark(I realize you may be dehydrated so your urine is probably concentrated)? Stool very light?
