  1. I haven't touched king cake yet-lucky for me I don't like it. I made gumbo Saturday, and ate the broth with a few bits of chicken. I get on the scale Sunday, and gained two pounds. Lost those by this am. I am six weeks out, and down 33 pounds.
  2. I didn't hold back. My manager had the same surgery in 2011. She was very open when I asked questions. She helped guide me through the process. I appreciate her honesty and feel I should be open about my surgery in case some one else has questions that need to be answered.

    cant eat chicken breast

Mmm, today I had chicken schwarma, and dipped the yummy slivers in hummus. First time I ate too much since surgery! Man, it took hours to stop feeling miserable. I had been really craving something different this last month.

    Happiness is...

Haha, having an adult size BM and THEN getting on the scale.
  5. First know, the two surgeons share an office suite but are not "partners". I will speak for Dr B-I was self pay. I met with him first. Then sat with his office manager and scheduled my surgery date. He even scheduled my surgery on a day that he didn't usually operate because my husband was on vacation that week. After surgery his PA visited first but he was right on her heels. Post op visits to his office, all the ladies fall all over you, treating you like his only patient. They are both excellent surgeons. Check out woman's website. There is a link, I believe, to a summit-Dr B was the only American surgeon invited. He showcased the procedure at the new woman's. He and the hospital received rave reviews.

    horrible constipation!

The best thing that you can do is go to the ER. The nurses there will be able to disimpact you. Good luck. Moving forward, you may want to add a stool softener to your medication regime.

    important question

Are you taking an acid reducer? Something like nexium, Prilosec, or protonix.
  8. My weight loss has creeped over the last few weeks, maybe one or two pounds. Last week my total loss since 12/17 was 33 lbs. Sunday I woke up and had gained two pounds. Monday I lose a pound. The scale is stuck. My dietician decreased the size of my meals and increased the liquid protein two weeks ago because I had issues with incisions not healing.

    Very hungry

I posted something similar over the weekend. My PPI wasn't working ( I was on Prevacid ). I switched to Nexium yesterday and went from ravenous all day to comfortably full. A senior member, CLK, advised me that increased acid production would mimic hunger.
  10. Two of them three times daily.
  11. Cool. They are like a treat.
  12. For the last couple of days, I am starving within an hour of eating. I'm about 7 weeks post op. I am allowed a regular diet. I don't understand why I feel so ravenous. I tried upping my liquids, and that didn't help.

    Hungry

Took nexium today. Felt much better. Forgot to pack an afternoon snack for work today, so I was starving at dinner time. Stayed full after eating tho. I may try taking it twice a day.
  14. I love Dr. Bellanger. His staff is great. His front office girl is a doll-calls everyone "my darlin". She will be one of your cheerleaders post op. Dr. Bellanger takes his time, and explains everything as much as you need, is very patient. My husband had a lot of questions as well. I had an issue with my body not dissolving the internal stitches, and they pushed out. One incision looked a little funky, and I called Dr B on a Friday night. I kept apologizing for disturbing him and he was so kind. He even told me to call him Saturday so he could check on me. And the dietician at woman's is a doll. She will tell you that you get one post op visit with her officially, but she is always there at no charge. There is a support group meeting at woman's on the second Wednesday of every month, you should come. It's open to anyone.
  15. I like the chocolate and caramel.
  16. I get calcium citrate chews from celebrate.

    Hungry

Thanks Cheri, I appreciate your knowledge. I will try something different tomorrow. I'll ask for nexium or protonix.

    Hungry

Supper was grilled thin sliced chicken breast filet and roasted zucchini. About 2 oz of chicken, few slices of veggies.

    Hungry

Yes I've been on Prevacid since the day after surgery. I tried drinking a glass of water after dinner, and still felt like my stomach was growling. I had to take my greyhound to the emergency hospital, and when we got home, I ate a few slices of deli sliced chicken. Still felt empty. Now I'm slowly eating some Greek yogurt. Still feeling empty. Maybe tomorrow will be better.
  20. My surgeon was Dr. Bellanger. My surgery was at the new Woman's Hospital. My cost was 14500. That covered all my preop testing, psych eval, overnight stay in the hospital, 2 years post op visits, my dietician, one visit with personal trainer, and BLIS insurance. I absolutely love him.

    Question about Tattoos!

I have 5 butterflies on my back. I got them a few years ago, at about 220 lbs. I went up to 275 before surgery. What I noticed recently is I can see the one on my left shoulder when I turn my head. This was the night that I got it.

WHAT TO TAKE FOR THE FLU

Tamiflu is a waste of money. My experience is it was non preferred on my insurance, and made me feel worse. All it does is shorten the duration, not cure the flu. Rest and hydration are your best bet.

    questions one month out

Next I'm going to make a crust less quiche.

    questions one month out

I made turkey meatballs. I eat chili. Tonight I had about an ounce of salmon with half a wedge of laughing cow chipotle and queso melted on top. Yum.
