    Tail bone pain

hi Lizv123, Padded panties sounds good...but i would also recommend getting in touch with your physical/occupational therapist bec they might have better recommendations for padding/ special surface material (seat cushion) for your everyday sitting routine (chair, couch, car, etc). You want to protect your tailbone bec if it's hurting and you're losing weight you don't want to have skin breakdown there which will be hard to heal and painful. moisturize the area, avoid friction, and keep the skin protected. Your hospital should cover this seat cushion --- hope this helps.

    Isopure

Yikes! I agree with you guys, isopure doesn't taste very good. . HOwever, im 6 days post op and can't tolerate much fluid and can't take my shakes coz they make me gassy. So i drink the isopure to get my protein intake in. I just put my iPhone timer every 15 mins and endure the taste- I guess I'm stuck with mine until i feel better. Lucky for me I only got 4 bottles and not the whole case the GNC lady suggested

  6. How much Biotin is needed to prevent hair loss? I am post op day #5 and am scared of hair loss coz my Protein intake is low. Hopefully it will get better with Isopure drinks that I got today. Anyway, GNC is selling biotin for 600mcg -10,000, the dosage range is sooo wide! . So im not sure exactly how much to take. Advise and information will be appreciated! Very thankful!

Thanks guys! It seems also from the older posts that i read the 10,000 mcg is the most common. And yes! This is in addition to the cocktail of vitamins I now take that is recommended by kaiser. I will also check whats the best recommendation with my nutritionist-- and will share with y'all as well! Thanks ????.

    Doctoral class and sleeve?

Yikes! I feel your concern, I'm in grad school as well and the timing could not be worse. Spring '13 started on the 14th for me. I had my surgery on the 16th, got discharged on the 17th, and had a paper due 19th. It is manageable, just stay focused. Good luck!

It makes me not want to sip and drink coz everytime I do-- I feel it all over again ;(

I am still having gas pains, and have their too full feeling with 1oz drinks. Hope it will get better. How do I make the gas pain go away? It seems to be happening everytime I drink. I use hot compress, gas x, I move & walk a lot. When did gas pain go away for you? Thanks!

Hi my kaiser permanente md and nut also said no no to gummies. Something about the content being less absorbed for sleevers. But best thing is to check with your md and nutritionist.

    5 days post op...

Hi vwilson, Hope you gets well soon, and will keep you in my prayers!
  16. Hi! This is my first time posting on the postop site Other than Gas pain, surgery was okay. So day #2 i can't take much except water, tried everything on clear liquid menu. If I drink 1oz protein then I have weird feeling like throwing up, so I stopped it. So broth 1oz literally 1 medicine cup and I'm so full. I thought I was supposed to sip all the time upto 6oz/hr but that's not happening. Is this normal? I average 1oz/hr otherwise stomach is not happy. Please advise.

Post op day 2-- cant eat help.

Thanks! I feel better now knowing I am not alone, and that this is normal. It seemed that all my efforts, research, reading and teaching was focused on the preop. Lol! I can't even believe i already did it. Will continue to sip and hydrate ;D

Thank you! I tried beef broth, will try anything coz I hate gooing to ER. And know dangers of dehydration. Thanks for advise guys, yes! I am listening to my body, and I no know what everyone is talking about when they can't describe "the feeling" but it is there when my body doesn't like something.

    Surgery at 9am tomorrow 16th

Update: Pain meds-- make sure you try your pain meds in the hospital to make sure it works before u get home. I got discharged late last night 7pm bec meds didn't work. It actually worked but they wanted to give it every 6 hrs, but the interval is too long. I asked for every 4--- the asked until I got it. The nurses were nice but not very proactive about it. So ask! Walk walk walk- I walked every 30 mins coz miserable from gas pain. gas X didn't help much--I passed gas at home and we have 3 floors at home, maybe that helped. But give it time-- you can't rush it but when it happens its bliss! I slept in sitting position bec my stomach hurts too much. Drink your pain elixir! I did my incentive spirometer ( gadget to exercise the lung) coz the pain was not making me take deep breaths. The last thing I want was pneumonia so I did it hitting 1500 evening it hurts. This am, took pain meds. Used abdominal binder --- that helped 200%! Ibwish I had known and brought it with me to hospital. I can walk better and don't feel so swollen. Challenge: drinking enough. After 1 oz Water, I feel full. Need to use cell alarm to remind me to drink. Overall-- regret yesterday, and feel so much better today. Need to work on not getting dehydrated. That's all for now... Hope these helps all the preops out there

    Surgery at 9am tomorrow 16th

Hello all, this is an update. Went to preop, wheeled to or, and woke up in recovery all in matter of 4 hrs. Surgery time was 75 mins. Came out with 5 little abdominal dressings, no drain. For pain iVI had diladid pca pump which was wonderful had it overnight till 6am. Then switched to oral elixir, nasty but it works. Bring HoT compress!!! It works wonders bec gas pain is painful. I had to walk walk walk all the time every 30 mins - 1 hr. finally felt so worn out that I slept this afternoon. RN said I need to rest bec gas pains take time, and it goes away for some quickly, for some over couple of days. No appetite yet, nauseated with food, still have IV for hydration. Awaiting for md if I will be sent home or kept one more night. If not for gas pain, I'm good to go. Thanks for everyone's prayers! Best of luck to us all, and may we have speedy recovery. I'll keep y'all posted soon!
