    I need your input please

Hi there, maybe you can let your doctor aware, and maybe they need to check your blood work. I get dizzy and have low energy but i thought it was related to strees. My iron levels were really low and I never knew, they put me on large iron dose before surgery to help, and will probably be back on it again. They also checked my thyroid level as well. Also, 800 calories may not be enough for you, try if you can get it in more and see if that helps with your energy. Good luck and hope you feel better soon!

    No weight loss since surgery

Are you losing inches anywhere? How's your calorie intake? Hang in there...i noticed that if take too little calories then the scale doesn't move either. Drink your Water and experiment with calories. Good luck and I hope you feel better soon!
  3. I have same feeling you guys described, my surgery was 1/16. When I sneeze or cough it's the worst. But was told by md that it is healing inside. The largest incision where the stomach was taken out is the one that hurts. I still wear my abdominal binder all day to help, and once in a while, Tylenol for pain. But for the most part, it's tolerable. I went back to work this week, and I did okay. Just hang in there!

    January Newbies ! Progress ?

Thanks! I am still working on getting 64oz. I am still on stage II foods. My staple food is greek yogurt mixed with cottage cheese, soups, broth, and Isopure Zero Carb. If I eat 2oz, then I really have to wait to drink for 30 mins, otherwise I can feel pressure going down my stomach. Working on increasing my fluid intake, and it's slow but getting better. If i sip too much it feels weird, so it's a learning process coz I sometimes forget and gulp too much and then i feel sick. I am back to work so it's even more challenging, but I really try to make a conscious effort to drink. Two weeks ago, I could only drink 1oz/hr, but as you heal and the swelling goes down, IT WILL GET better...and I was in the same boat as you, and many people posted they are father out than us and it's a challenge too for many. Just keep trying HAve a speedy recovery!

    January Newbies ! Progress ?

Date of surgery 1/16- exactly two weeks ago. Weight 200, date of Surgery 190, Current 178. The weight loss is slow and steady compared to fast losers, but not complaining! So ecstatic coz I don't ever remembering losing this much at all! It will just get better down the road, if only I can finish 64oz of fluids (work in progress). the inches are coming off -- super happy!

    ivc filter

Not sure why you would need that? They can give subcutaneous heparin or small dose blood thinners to prevent you from having potential clots. It was never offered to me, that's another procedure in itself. I was given the injection shots.
  7. My incisions are dry and healed... but it looks like there is a red ring around it and it is super super itchy! It's so bad I can't even sleep. Is anyone else having this issue? I will see md on Friday but for the meantime I don't know what else to do. I Tried lotion, vit e, baby oil, hydrocortisone but didn't work. any advise? Thanks!
  8. Hey guys! I am so happy that the surgeon said it was an allergic reaction only. It seems like a lot of people had this reaction. 1% hydrocortisone cream is what he prescribed. Thanks for all your advise! You guys are awesome!

    Urgent care

Hi fyre, good that your surgeon is proactive! Glad that you're getting an ultrasound. Hope that you get better soon!
  10. Yikes! I sent him an email and left voicemail to see me as soon as possible! I hope it's just allergies ;( and nothing serious. Please please please let it be okay.

    Very happy!

Oh my goodness congratulations! I wish I can lose at the same rate too! You look amazing!
  12. I swear drinking and making sure I'm well hydrated and taking in enough Protein is a FULL time job. Anyway, just thought I'd share to y'all girls what helps me- I lug everything in my little tote. I have 1 L Water, Isopure for protein, baby powder for my itchy incisions, baby lotion, kindle, etc. The problem with me is that: If I don't see it, I don't drink it. So I bring it with me everywhere in the house. Just thought I'd share.

    OUCH!

I feel the same way, the largest incision is the one that is bothering me as well. Everything you describe is identical to how I feel, esp bending down hurts. Weird too coz I used to lay on my right side, now that hurts my stomach... I feel like something is pulling and I have to go back to laying on my left side. Im using the abdominal binder and Tylenol chewable once in awhile it helps a little bit and then pain again. Hopefully it will go away soon, it's been 11 days since surgery ;(
  14. I have kaiser and MD recommended FiberCon twice a day even if I am not constipated to regulate BM coz he knows it will happen after surgery. I have been taking it twice a day- ever since surgery day, and had first BM on post op day#4, and regular BM everyday after that.

  16. Can't wait to shop for cute and chic clothes at regular stores. So sick & tired of big girl stores that have hideous styles! Buy Tons of oh so Sexy lingerie! Gotta get rid off all the granny underwear! Get playful & naughty with "toys" (don't have any) -- that will be a huge surprise for both of us. Wear high sexy heels Buy boots that fit my calves Wear Skinny jeans Take Strip tease or burlesque lessons Get nice swimsuit and not wear granny ones for a change ???? Get rid of this CPap machine that works too well as a contraceptive. One look and it's enough to wipe out all of your sex drive!

    Urgent care

If you are still having pain in your calf--- demand for an ultrasound of your calf. Make sure they check it for clots/ deep vein thrombosis. Ultrasound can see if u have it or not.

    Urgent care

Calm and take a deep breathe... You need to relax so you can be specific and tell them where it hurts. When it started, wheat location, what makes it worse, all those things. If you have questions write them down, so u can ask the Md coz u might forget if you're panicking. Get well soon!

    Too emotional and moody?

Hahaha lol!!! This is so funny Liz! I am happy to hear from you! I know you've been through a looooot.. And thanks for sharing! Im glad to know that I'm not the only one who is actually experiencing this. And I never had these issues before either, so it's surprising. I'm keeping myself busy. Lol! I dont even have any idle moment- reading a lot, doing homework for grad school, light exercises and cooking healthier for the family. But I agree that it's hormones, and my body is adjusting to everything. I'll take it easy , one day and one pound at a time. Get well my VSG sister! May God keep you safe and heal you as new!

    Anyone out there an RN?

Hi there! I'm also in ICU. I asked for 3 weeks off, but right now I'm post op day #8 i really feel fine. I'm thinking I'll just cut it down to two weeks and go back earlier. I just need to make sure I stay hydrated. That's my challenge now, not quite drinking 64oz yet, hopefully I'll meet that goal by then.

  22. Yoga pants or anything stretchy will also work. I would also recommend a HOT Compress, it helped with my abdominal pain/gas pain at night.
