Got my date yeaaaaa
mommyradd replied to jerseygirl31's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Great news, congratulations! -
My A1C was almost 10 prior to surgery and I was on 2 medications. After surgery, I was off of them for 2 weeks, but then has to take Metformin due to high morning and bedtime sugar levels. I have since lost 60 pounds, at almost 6 months out, and my A1C was 5.1. I am off all meds and go back for a check up in 6 months. I took myself off the meds once I noticed my numbers we're mostly normal. That was about 2 months after surgery. The diabetes doctor just needed to confirm it for me.

I KNOW I NEED TO CLEAN OUT MY CLOSET BUT
mommyradd posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm having a hard time getting rid of my semi-big clothes. I have surpassed the smallest clothes in my closet by a couple of sizes, at least, but it feels scary to get rid of them. From my years of yo-yo dieting, I have always had a cushion to lean on with the different sizes. I don't plan on ever going back there, but it feels too new to trust myself yet. Any advice? What do I keep? Was a 24 and now a 14. -
Good for you! I waited until I was 41 and wish I did it much sooner.

Muscle Milk is recommended with workouts for optimal results. Plus, they taste great and have 20 grams of protein.

Do you still feel the urge to binge eat?
mommyradd replied to danelle235's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Binge, no. However, every now and then I miss being able to have a normal portion of something really tasty. I sometimes struggle with feeling satisfied emotionally, with two ounce portions, even though my tummy is quite satisfied. -
I KNOW I NEED TO CLEAN OUT MY CLOSET BUT
mommyradd replied to mommyradd's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks everyone! I know I need to believe in myself and in the choice I made. I'm going to get rid of them no matter how uncomfortable it makes me feel right now. I'm only keeping a pair of jeans I wore daily when I started my journey. I'm making Saturday my purge day! -
3 months out progress
mommyradd replied to lovemyattitude's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Because I had lower BMI to begin with, I don't expect to lose at the same rate as others with more to lose than me. Instead, I see the clothes size dropping, as well as pounds. I'm about 5 and a half months out and down about 60 pounds. The number on the scale does not mean as much as the image looking back at me in the mirror. I'm 20 pounds away from goal! Don't worry, stick with your plan and you will be successful and so proud of your new body in no time! -
What's done is done. Please don't let this one mis-step take you off course. Use the guilt as fuel to make better decisions the next time. You got this!

I love the iced coffee with SF vanilla from MC Donalds, too. I add my Muscle Milk to it and have half of it for breakfast and the other half as a snack.

It mostly depends on your insurance and their requirements. Mine took 6 months, but well worth the wait!
-
Mine was denied because my PCP didn't write recommended and cleared for surgery. Once she re-did the letter, it was approved right away.
-
I also have CIGNA and was denied once. In the end it's worth all the hoops! Congratulations!

Those who had over heating and sweating issues prior to surgery chime in..
mommyradd replied to Heather Meyer's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I used to sleep with the fan hitting me, even in the winter. Now, I frequently need to wear layers. I am always cold at night. It's almost 90 degrees right now and I'm not hot, just comfortable. I never sweat anymore, unless I want to, wink wink. -
is there coffee in my future?
mommyradd replied to ladylei0's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think it depends upon your ultimate view on eating after the surgery. Many give up almost everything, while others have a vice or two. I have coffee regularly, and It hasn't stalled my weight loss per say, but when I have too many, I definitely feel the water weight. I watch my calories everyday. I plan on living the all things in moderation lifestyle, once I reach my goal weight. I think giving up everything is a sure way for me to fail! Good luck! -

Lack of pre-op weight loss!
mommyradd replied to ridermel's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was 205 at my first appointment with my surgeon. My Nutritionist had me add carbs to my diet, saying everything should be eaten in moderation. The following month I weighed 213! It took me 4 months to lose those 8 pounds, and my pre-op weight was 203. Five months out, and I weigh 147.5. Point being, hang in there and it will come off. Try not to stress, and just make good choices. Good luck! -
WOW!
