About Me

  • Gender
    Female
  1. Im 50lbs down since my surgery in Dec. (I weigh in every other week, so i'm hoping by next Thursday i'll be down to 180lbs... ) On surgery day, i weighed in at 235lbs... I will admit originally I thought, 160 (at 5'4) would be a good weight for me but that's only ~20lbs away, i definitely could lose more. I'm thinking 130lbs may be a better weight for me.
  2. Today I had turkey (from a cooked turkey leg), corn and sauteed spinach. Next week i'll probably swap the corn out for a sweet potato.

    Help! Employer questions

If you use vacation time...NO they cannot question you. (That's what I did) But if they are asking if the surgery is elective, maybe they are trying to help you qualify for medical leave or to use your sick time? I could be wrong.
  4. I agree. In fact, my surgeon has another after care doctor that came to see me in the hotel after my hospital stay in Mexico. BOTH of those doctors provided me with emails and US phone number to contact them. I also left with medications and my diet. About a week after I was back home, the doctor called me. If anything....your US coordinator should be able to get that information for you.

    Jealous Friends

This is one of the reason, I have kept my surgery to myself. But even though I haven't told my friends about my surgery I know a few of them will have something to say when they seem this summer. (We live in different states) Honestly..when you loose weight...you loose friends. Some women like to be the smallest in the group or they like being around all plus size women. So when that changes, jealousy and drama start.
  6. When I had surgery they wanted me to walk around the hospital the first night. Its good to up and great around. I don't think you'll have a problem attending the event. It'll be good to get out. Just take the juice or something with you to sip on so you don't get tempted by the concessions.
  7. Why would the even have to know. I went to Mexico for my surgery on Thursday(had it the same day I flew in) and went back to work on Wednesday. I didn't tell my manager anything except I was taking days off. If you have a desk job, its not that big of a deal. However, if you have an environment where you share your personal life at work then that might be an issue for you. In my opinion, there is no need to take a medical leave from work for the VSG surgery. Unless you go into surgery with very poor health....but if that's the case, i don't see any doctor taking the risk to operate on you in the first place.
  8. I'm 5'4...i think 135-140lbs would be my ideal.
  9. Definitely yoga..i've tried before by weight definitely gets in the way.

    Stomach gurgling

Im 6 weeks out...and yup, im gurgling too. But i only hear it when I eat.
  11. I wouldn't go this soon. Even if you find a style of dress you like, 4 months from now it may look totally different on your body. I would wait to the last possible minute to buy a dress AND have a seamstress on-hand to make last minute alterations the week of your wedding.
  12. great questions...i was wondering about this as well.
  13. I was just sleeved last week at 217(5'4). I'm 31 with no kids. For me its about being in the best physical shape to even be able to carry a baby. Pregnancy is risky...why add more risk to the baby if you yourself are not in the best shape. But honestly...i don't think it would be a problem. If you were getting the gastric bypass....then I could see your concern.

    Things I won't miss

    1. the constant dieting. feeling bad because i failed and restricted myself even more the next day..the yo-yo of it all. 2. not having to "check" to see if a certain store will carry my size. 3. no more tight girdles....i'll be happy to downgrade to spanx. lol..
