New Band in San Antonio
workshop78009 replied to readytolose's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi ReadyToLose, Glad to hear you're doing well... I'm finally feeling human again and getting myself back to my regular routine. I also go to AIGB, Dr. Gonzalez did my surgery as well. My follow-up was also this past thursday, the 31st and I was also anxious to ask him about my own hernia repair...lol....we seem to be on the same wave-length in our little journey so far ! Doc put me on Soft Foods so that was a real treat to get to eat something with some substance. I'm fighting the hungries between meals but so far have been really good about what i'm eating. I can't wait to get my first fill which should help. I go back on the 20th, which Dr. Gonzalez said I will probably be ready for my first.... yippee ! I'm not going to any support groups, do you know of any in SA? I haven't really looked into it, but it might be something I should check into. Let me know how you're doing... maybe we can get together sometime and "compare notes" :welldoneclap: lauralee Banded 5/18/07 244/229/125 -

workshop78009 replied to IndioGirl55's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I just asked that same question of the staff at my surgeons office this morning. They too said that the previous gallbladder surgery won't be anything to worry about. I get my band tomorrow !!! lauralee -
Hello all ! My name is lauralee, 46, South Central Texas and am scheduled for surgery on May 18th at AIGB in San Antonio, Dr. Gonzales. My insurance approved the surgery practically overnight which from what I've read is amazing. My story is probably a very common one here, been overweight since day one, overweight child, teenager and adult. Have lost 100's of pounds over the years. The lowest I've ever been as an adult was 150 (I'm 5'3 btw) at about age 30 via Nutrisystem Program. My highest weight ever was 275 about four years ago. I dropped down to about 200 three years ago and have since creaped back up to 240. My first diet was probably around 14 or 15 years old, so I've been battling this for over 30 years and have just decided I need to do something different. At 46... it's do or die time... seriously... that's the truth of the matter. I've got to get it off and keep it off for good. So, since I've less than a week to go before surgery, I'm trying to get all my little ducks in a row and prepare myself and my cupboard for the next few weeks ahead. I've got chicken and beef broth, clear fruit juices, sugar free jellos and still have yet to pick up the sugar free popcicles. I hear those are a high point post surgery... I know I've probably forgot something or haven't thought about somethings at all... Any advice and/or suggestions to help me make the next few weeks as easy as possible would be greatly appreciated. Also, is there any place where one can find statistics on success rates, complication risk factors, etc. Looking forward to the journey, lauralee
