Fortunately for me I haven't had this problem yet. But I think I would try to start with fiber supplements daily before going to laxatives regularly. I have seen several posts on here about people taking Miralax daily, some have even stated their Dr. told them to. You might want to ask your Dr. they can probably give you the best advice. Good Luck.

The things that got me through the puree stage the most were tuna salad, egg salad, and the canned chicken. I have also since found some good canned turkey and ham that are like that. Good Luck. -
The other issue from what I've been told is that while the other calcium is taking longer to absorb it occupies space in your already small stomach making it difficult to get in the other required things you need.

Dating, cultural acceptance, opportunity, OH MY
Richard Foor replied to Meredit's topic in Singles Forum
I believe this kind of thing is normal with any true life change. Those of us that are married even find changes in our marital relations for similar reasons. As with all things I would hope it gets better with time. Good Luck. -
As the others have said it gets easier as time goes on. Remember eventually you'll be able to eat what you want but in smaller quantities, hopefully while making healthier choices but to each is own. It would have been easier to get your requirements in while in the hospital because that was all you had to think about, now that your home you are probably trying to get back to your normal life and it takes time to find the proper balance to get the things in and get everything done. Good Luck

Managing VSG while traveling every week for work -- tips please
Richard Foor replied to zoekids's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The diner thing will only be an issue while you are on liquids and softs so depending on your surgeons postop plan it could be as little as a month, then you'll be able to eat normal food just in smaller quantities. Good Luck. -
I don't think there is anyway to post a profile pic on the cellphone app.

I think that everyone that gets this surgery goes through these feelings you are making a life altering decision. For me I just kept reminding myself the risks vs. the benefits and that helped me get threw the anxiety. Another thing to think about is when you are reading the post op posts about people who had problems, remember people who had perfectly normal post op experiences aren't as likely to post because they don't need any reassurance that things are going to get better. Good Luck. -
I don't think there would be any problem doing the VSG. Personally I didn't know I had a hiatal hernia till after I woke up post op and the Surgeon told me he found one while doing my VSG and fixed it. Good Luck.

Good Job, Congratulations. I feel that getting more energy and feeling healthier is more important then the numbers on the scale so how fast the numbers go down isn't that important in my opinion.

Liquid diet pre op
Richard Foor replied to apelt001's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I always stuck with Vanilla or unflavored protein powder because it was easier to flavor. that being said I used a lot of MIO and some of the 4c drink mixes. -
Welcome and Good Luck

Check those nutritional details
Richard Foor replied to Fiddleman's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have found in the past that salads from restaurants are frequently horrible on the nutrition facts especially with the carbs. -
Alcohol and 2 weeks post op!
Richard Foor replied to sarahzamudio1091's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
While I don't believe drinking alcohol so soon after surgery is a good idea. I am really appalled at the attitudes of some people on here, I thought this was supposed to be a support forum not a act like children and call people names forum. -
Blended chicken with Franks Hot Sauce
Richard Foor replied to mel7283's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I don't see why there would be any problem with that since it is just adding flavor. Especially since it didn't bother your stomach -
It should track the protein even if you are picking the foods from the lists. But the problem is the app on the phone doesn't seem to show all the info, but if you log on to the computer you will see all the info.

5 days postop band to sleeve and have a few questions...
Richard Foor replied to roiansmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you are doing the gummies beware some of them have carbs. -
I have never seen anyone on here admit to being a Dr, but as you say that may be due to liability concerns. I have seen several nurses who give good medical advise. p.s. I am a paramedic and sometimes have a clue myself, lol.

5 days postop band to sleeve and have a few questions...
Richard Foor replied to roiansmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations on feeling great so soon out. The exhaustion is normal and is related to reduced protein intake, usually when you feel exhausted if you drink some protein it will make you feel better quicker. The feeling under the incision is normal as it is still healing, that site will not be as far along in healing as the others, as long as it doesn't hurt you don't need to worry about it. The fluid will continue to get easier as the swelling goes down, most find it is easier to drink warm fluids during this phase as the warmth helps decrease the swelling. You should try not to drink more then 8 oz in a half hour but if you do it does leak through the pyloric sphincter so it does not have any bearing on what the size of your sleeve is. The taste of the vitamins pretty much will grow on you. Hope this helps, good luck. -
I agree that you need to increase your fluid intake. If your having a hard time try drinking room temperature or warm drinks most find them easier to drink post op. Good Luck
