    Help....

I agree that you need to talk to your Dr. or Nut. That being said you might try to get your fluid intake up as it is important for good weight loss. Good Luck.

    Went to my primary today

I also think it might be a little to early to get convinced you used the wrong surgery choice. Have you been having follow ups with your surgeon and NUT if you have one, they should be able to help you to figure out why your gaining instead of losing. If you don't mind telling us, what have you been eating on your 1000 calorie diet, maybe your getting to many carbs or sugars.

    Calories

When I was on liquids the Dr. told me not worry about calories because you won't get enough on the liquids to matter. He said just make sure to get enough proteins(min 60 gram) and fluids(try for 64 oz).

4 days post op, drinking too fast?

The people who have a hard time getting there fluids in are usually because of still having a lot of swelling. I personally was like you and did not have problems drinking as much as I wanted, it didn't cause me any problems and made it much easier to get my necessary proteins at that stage.

    No longer morbidly obese!

Technically you are obese class 2 but most people combine class 1 and 2 and just call it obese, I personally think the class 1 and 2 are stupid since it makes it more confusing and they are only 5 percent each.

    No longer morbidly obese!

Congratulations. However I think you have the levels backwards because "Super Obese" is a BMI over 50, "Morbid Obese" is over 40. http://www.livestrong.com/article/177142-bmi-for-super-obesity/

Why do i feel like this?

Yeah your amounts you listed are the same as what I was eating at that stage. When you progress to solids you'll be able to tell when you get full.
  8. I also was told to take the calcium separately from the iron and the multi. I'm not positive about the calcium times a day because the paperwork said 3 times but the dr told me 2 times so I will need to check on that one.

Please observe and give me advice

I would say the most important things to work on are getting your protein and liquids up. My target range was 60 proteins and 64 oz liquids. Good luck
  10. Well has been stated already every Dr./NUT has a different system. But I will tell you what mine was, but you should probably call your surgeons office and ask them to confirm what they want. Anyhow my first 2 week post op were full liquids, that is anything the consistency that you could drink through a straw but you should not use a straw at this point due to increased air consumption. I was advised to drink about 4 oz every hour at first until I could tolerate a little more, it didn't take me long to be able drink about 6 oz an hour. You need to try to get as much protein as possible because this will prevent you from being overly fatigued, my dr recommended a minimum of 60 grams a day. During liquids I didn't worry about calories or carbs at all. It's also worth noting that most people don't feel any full feeling until they get to solid food, that was the case for me personally.
  11. My surgeon didn't have me start vitamins until I started pureed food at 2 weeks, but each dr is different. Anyhow, he told me I could use Centrum Silver chewable instead of the more expensive bariatric vitamins, I also take 2 chewable calcium citrates, and an iron supplement. Some tiredness is perfectly natural at this stage but your protein levels help to alleviate that greatly. Good Luck.
  12. Congratulations on the great start. When I was in the soft stage I used a lot of canned meat like tuna and they also have in the same type of cans turkey, ham, roast beef. I also used the underwood brand roast beef spread. These are all high in protein and have low or no carbs. Good Luck.

    6 Weeks post-op with a horrible cold

I had a cold in the 3rd week out, and I talked to my Dr. who said I could take most meds without problem but to avoid the ones with the long term time releases like the meds you only have to take once a day. Personally I have used Mucinex and Nyquil/Dayquil. Good Luck.

    what is pre-op diet?

Don't worry most people whether they admit it or not cheated at least once during their pre-op diet, including me. After I cheated I asked my surgeon and he said it would not be an issue that he expects people to cheat a little because we are all human and obviously got the way we are because of bad habits and poor self control. So I think unless you totally blew off the pre-op diet and gained weight leading into the surgery it won't be an issue and even then some people don't even have a pre-op diet so I wouldn't worry to much but if you are scared you can always ask your Dr. Good Luck.
  15. Seems like with everything else it varies depending on the surgeons personal opinion and past experiences.

    My stomach is angry!

This is perfectly normal it does lessen as time goes(length of time varies for everyone). I believe it has to do with the stomach acids not having any solid food to break down, It also seems to be lessened by use of Prilosec. Good Luck

    What happens at this appointment?

When I had my preop consults they were mostly about preparing me mentally for the changes to life that the surgery was going to cause. Basically they explained what I would need to do postop and made sure I was prepared and committed to fallow through with it. Good Luck.

    Help! Having trouble eating...

Don't be to hard on yourself, like the others have said it gets easier, remember your old habits took a life time to make and your new habits are just starting to form. By the way this is that difficult, it takes a lot of effort to keep on track until the habits form. Good Luck.

    question about protein

If you don't want to have to supplement with shakes or protein bars, when you get to real food you will have to try to make food decisions that have a lot of protein in order to get it in. By the way my surgeon said at least 60 grams so I do believe there is some leeway on the exact amount, I mostly try to eat foods high in protein and if my energy stays ok I don't worry about the exact grams. Good Luck.

    my birthday..

First off Happy Birthday. Unfortunately the life style change that comes from this surgery is very hard for people who haven't had it to understand. I find sometimes people just aren't sure how to act around me since the surgery and as such some of them just back off because they are afraid they will make things harder. Until your family gets used to your new lifestyle you may need to ask them to do things and not wait for them to ask you. Hope you feel better, Good Luck.

    Puree diet

You can definitely add salt and spices. I also used reduced fat mayo which helps a good bit, also used relish sometimes. I have read about people adding hot sauce to get a buffalo chicken taste but never tried it, I would think you would want to try that slowly to make sure it didn't bother your stomach. Also some light shredded cheese could help plus adds some extra protein.
  24. Have to admit that is the first time I have ever heard of anyone being told they couldn't use CPAP post op. Like the others I took my machine to the hospital with me and they put it on me before I even woke up after surgery. But as in all things every surgeon has there own ways. Good Luck.
